  1. you are far from alone, @@jessdawn37!
  2. wow, i'm following this thread to see what else people have to say... regular to me right now (pre-op) is 2 - 3 times per day! i wonder what will happen afterwards. i'd love to hear more about when people became regular without aids.
  3. just had mine yesterday, coupled with a colonoscopy at the same time, and it went just like slasherms said. i too was more worried about this, and it was a nothing.
  4. Good morning, all! I had my endoscopy/colonoscopy yesterday. That was my last pre-op screening, can I get a huge WOOHOO?!?!?!?! What a journey this has been. Good to know that after every part of me has been poked, prodded and pricked that there were no surprise health issues uncovered. Now I have one final weighin next Tuesday, and then I should be ready to be submitted for insurance. I'm feeling practically giddy today! Possibly the results of fasting, colon cleansing and sleeping off the anaesthesia from yesterday? Nah, I'm just in a really positive mood and so happy to be done with this step! I've never had either test before, even though I'm 56 and should have had a colonoscopy already, according to all docs. I've managed to avoid this (by throwing out the scripts every year I get one)... can't say I'm a colonoscopy virgin any more, and if I have my way, I'll never have another one! That stuff you have to drink is so vile to me, I truly couldn't get it down as prescribed. I finally diluted it twice as much as instructed, and was able to do a little better, but I only managed to drink half as much as directed. I learned that the scope has a little vacuum which will clean out anything that remains, so IF I am ever forced to do this again, I know not to sweat it. I also lost 1.5 lbs from the fasting/cleansing, an added plus. I am now down 18 lbs since I started this journey. Not worried about the weighin next week now at all. Getting closer.......
  5. @@sherripark, i'm so sorry to hear about the rough time you are having! *HUGS* i think your attitude is awesome, really... "today I am going to take advantage of being home alone and focus on drinking and eating 3 meals + a snack or 2 in hopes that good fluids & nutrition will help my mind and body.." that's a great plan. i've read that losing a lot of weight quickly releases a lot of hormones, so your depression could just be from that, which means temporary. however, from someone who deals with depression, please consider seeing a therapist. even short term, it helps to have someone to talk to who will be totally non-judgemental. i agree that you do need to find someone to follow up with locally about your surgery. i would be stressed personally if i wasn't feeling well and the surgeon was in another country. keep posting and reading on this site, you will learn a lot, and at the least, get a lot of commiseration! congrats on your weight loss, that's fabulous.
  6. @@Carlagrant, make sure you find the threads that are specifically for people getting sleeved in October (I am too!) so you can share your stuff with people who are in the same place as you. It makes it easier, I think.
  7. i hear you, i was concerned about that too. i have the same drinking habits as you, except i don't do diet soda. i've decided to just trust what everyone else tells me about tastes and habits changing post surgery. about your job being physical... maybe you just won't need as much Water after the surgery, as you begin and continue to lose weight, because you won't be working so hard to do whatever it is you do? does that make sense?
  8. My surgeon offers a three year program that isn't covered, and costs $1000. Not required but highly recommended. i'm going for it.
  9. i expect to be sometime in October, but i won't get my date until after the insurance approves... which means after my endoscopy/colonoscopy next week, and after my last weigh in the week after, and after the surgeon's office submits me for insurance approval. the waiting sucks!! lol pre-op, i have to do 4 days of liquid only.
  10. @@angelicHG7, what does NPO mean? HalloweenBaby24, how are you feeling today? any better?
  11. i am going tonight to the monthly support group meeting my hospital hosts. i've got to ask if i'm going to be in trouble because i'm not losing as much as they told me to during my 3 month preop diet. it's really stressing me out. i'm upset because i lost control and ate too much last night. this morning the scale was up 4 lbs!!!! so i'm back to being down 6 lbs out of the 14 they wanted. how is everyone doing on their pre-op weight loss regimens?
  12. i lose from the top down as well, and can't wait to see how this looks after the surgery. ever since i started this pre-op diet, i feel like i look fatter than ever, because my belly seems to stick out more as i lose from the boobs up. if i wasn't 56, people would probably think i'm preggers right now!
  13. @@☠carolinagirl☠, condolences on your mother's passing.
  14. i told my mom and my daughter, and gave them permission to tell whomever they choose. so far a few cousins know, but i have a huge family and i know it won't get around to all of them. it'll be very cool... i hope i don't steal the bride's thunder!
  15. @@tiffin-scott, i agree with @@chellede, read more of the after-surgery posts, and the fear will start to dissipate. i haven't read ANYONE on here who stuck with the regret, even those who experienced complications have said they would do it all over again. i am looking forward to a cousin's wedding next labor day, and buying a gorgeous dress that will not be from a plus size store! it will be the first time a lot of my family will see me post-surgery, and i'm looking forward to wowing them, and dancing my feet off all night long.
  16. i hear you loud and clear! i've been going through it already, and i am still a month pre-surgery! just going through my pre-op three month supervised diet has depressed me greatly. i've made more/different changes than i ever have before in a diet, preparing for life after sleeving, and it's depressed me greatly. i have to work so hard to find joy in places other than food, and it's depressing as hell to realize how much of my happiness was/is based on food. i hope to replace this with exercise highs, when i weigh less and can move without pain. fight the fight! we are worth the pain we are going through, and let's face it... it was pretty depressing being fat, when we allowed ourselves to actually think about it (instead of hiding the feelings behind more food).
  17. @@tiffin-scott, what are you petrified about specifically? let it out here, friend, that's what this is for.
  18. good luck! let us know how it goes.
  19. my favorites so far are the Unjury chocolate splendor, and the Unjury vanilla, and Garden of Life Raw Protein chocolate.
  20. you sound like you need a good hug! <<<HUG>>> it's only virtual, but it's warm and caring. i hate my job too (well, really mostly i hate working), and am counting the days to when i don't have to work any more. (five friggin years to go). i hear you. you do not deserve to be treated this way. know this to be true! and come here whenever you need to vent or cry or just need another hug. we're here for you all the way!
  21. I have been using My Fitness Pal, but very sporadically. You're right, we CAN do this.
