  1. I tend to get very swollen after a fill, so I've been sticking to fills of .25 every 3-4 weeks. Friday night, I got stuck on shrimp. VERY STUCK! By Saturday morning, I could drink Water but in very small amounts. By Saturday night, I was okay. I ate grilled chicken with cheese for dinner and had a few glasses of wine. Woke up Sunday morning and was SO tight. I mean, beyond tight. I couldn't even keep my saliva down. I'm not sure what caused it. I probably threw up/PB 30 times on Saturday. Struggled through the night and went to the Doctor on Monday. The Fluid FLEW out of my band. We tried to only take out a little, but I kept throwing up. 3 unfills and 1.5 ccs later, I left the office. I dread the path to get that 1.5 back in...emotionally and physically.

    Weight Watchers Points

Thanks guys...and I agree, however I'm not in the green and the band isn't 'doing its job,' therefore I'm eating too much. Just trying to find the balance if how much vs. what I should be eating until I get to the right restriction. For example, when I go out to eat, I have to order a salad. If I order something that us high in Protein, ie a chicken dish, I eat too much of it and consume too many calories.

    Weight Watchers Points

If you're doing Weight Watchers, how many points to you eat a day?
  5. I'm in the same boat. Banded in May 2013, 8.75 in my band and still not in the green. I can (and sometimes need) to eat a lot of food to feel satisfied. Two important things: - It's okay and totally normal to be frustrated and want to vent - It's not okay to give up Every day is one step closer to being in a good place. GOOD LUCK!!!

    Normal Plate Size?

I'm 6 months out and still don't really know what a 'normal' plate size is. I hear 1/2 cup, 1 cup, small plate with 1/2 Protein, 1/4 veggies, 1/4 carbs. I also heard "I can only take a few bites and I'm satisfied." For those of you in the green, how much are you eating to be satisfied for 4 hours? Thanks!

    Feeling Like A Failure...

I am in constant communication with my doctor (about every 2 - 4 weeks). The challenge is that I swell pretty signifiantly after each fill, so I have to go very slowly (about .25 cc each fill). I'm back there on Tuesday but if I keep eating like I am, I'll gain 5 lbs. by then!
  8. I had lapband in May of 2013, I have 8.75 cc in my 14 cc band and I'm not yet in the green zone. I feel like I'm never going to get there and that it is a "fantasy feeling" that everyone talks about. Not to mention, I can't get my mind on the right track. I feel like I'm fighting the same fight from before lap band. I'm on track and doing great for 2 days and then all hell breaks loose. I don't even want to tell you what I ate today!!!! I feel like a failure.

    Louisville??

I'm in a Louisville. Congrats on the band! I was banded in May 2013. How are you doing?
  12. How many calories do you eat? With all that exercise, you might not be eating enough. I was at a plateau for a few months, increase my calories to 1,250 and now the weight is coming off. I have to admit some of my plateau was due to poor choices... Good luck!

    A cry for a friend...

hoover123 - thanks so much for your reply and don't feel bad for asking what happened! We are all trying to learn everything about this process - the good and the bad. When she first had surgery, she was only able to eat or drink a very little (as in 1 sip of Water every 15 mintues). She was probably eating less than 500 calories a day and most of those were Protein shakes. She was told it was normal and that her stomach needed to stretch. Long story short, it was not normal. She had stoma stenosis. Basically the opening from her stomach to her small intestines was too small and the food/liquids coudn't get through. (apparently this quite common with bypass) She had a procedure where they inserted a balloon to stretch it. 10 days later she went to the ER with horrible abdominal pain. It took about 12 hours for them to figure out that she had sepsis, where bowel matter leaks into the blood stream. If it's not fixed via surgery, it's fatal the mixing of fluids (I'm not exactly certain how) shuts down your organs. As they were wheeling her into the OR (14 hours after she got to the ER), she went into caradiac arrest and died. Had they got her into OR earlier, all things considered, she'd be fine. The autoposy won't be back for 14 -16 weeks. I'm not sure if the sepsis was caused from the procedure or something else...

    A cry for a friend...

I had lap band in May of 2013. My best friend since nursery school had gastric bypass in July of 2013. This was our journey together. There is such comfort of having a friend that is exploring this journey with you. Someone who tells you like it is, who doesn't play games, who is as real as it gets. She passed away on 9/8/13 due to complications from WLS. I'm lost. I'm heartbroken. She's the only person (other than my husband and immediate family) that knew I had lap band. She was the one person that I confided in about everything. The one person who "got it." She was my sanity. The one who broke through the bull ****, could talk about the real issues of being fat, without getting caught up in the bs, who knew what it was like to be a fat mom, but wanted the best for our kids (we both have 5 and 3 year old), who could admit what we were missing without feeling sorry for ourselves, who could talk about how different our lives would be when we reached our goal weights, who knew that it sucked that we have "rib fat" or an "apron" of fat, that we couldn't see our kitty kats and that our 'girls' were better off before we spent years breastfeeding. She made me laugh, she was raw, but real, and that's what I loved most. I miss her. I miss her honesty. I'm desperately seeking someone who "get's it," who isn't trying to play the game, trying to be a perfect mom or pretending to live a life that is completely conformed since surgery. I'm struggling every day and am assuming that others are as well. Am I crazy to think that there are others out there that understand where I'm coming from or who feel comfortable with inappropriate humor/raw reality? If so, I'm dying to connect with you. I miss my friend dearly and am desperately in need of someone to fill the void of honestly. When all is said and done, I’m looking for a friend in this journey. No judgment. Just reality and honesty about how much life sucks with being a fat mom (or dad!!!!)
