  1. toward the end of week one post-opt I started feeling hungry so I started doubling up on the jello, Popsicles and I had some frozen vanilla yogurt. it really did help me.
  2. So I went to the doctor today to have my staples removed and boy did that hurt. Then she told me she was going to check to see how much liquids I had in my band. The nurse walks up to me with this needle that was about 4 inches long. I started freaking out because I thought that whole thing was going in me. After she found my port she poked me and that was it.. it did not hurt when she drained me.. then filled me up with 1cc. so now i should be doing fine. I still am feeling very sleepy and low on energy but I am hoping things change. I wont see them for five weeks for a possible fill. I still dont have an appetite for food although this food my sister is cooking smells great. The great news is that i lost 13 more pounds in two weeks. that is awesome.. I am so proud of myself and i am ready for more success with the band. Also, my other doctor told me that they will talk to me later about the lipo choices. I might qualify for free lipo since my skin on skin action is causing friction and irritation. so i will see.. I need a nap so i wil log latter. chow!!!
  3. I had a hard time laying down in every way after the surgery. A week after I had no problem laying on my right side, but my left side where my port is I could not do it. It was still swollen and caused pain. If it doesnt hurt you then go for it, if it does you might want to avoid it. how long have you had the band.
  4. no problem, you have a great day!!
  5. walking as much as you can helps relieve the gas. Also if you have a heating pad use it. doing both of those things helped me get rid of the gas. It took about 5 days for the gas to leave me but everyone is different.
  6. you should go to a free seminar and ask the doctor to see, It would be hard to try to get an answer on here because everyone's doctor does different things. Good luck!!
  7. I have to admit I am proud to say I finally was able to drink a full bottle of water today!!! I know it doesnt sound like much but believe me its the most i have been able to drink since I was banded. sucky thing that bugged me yesterday was the slight break out episode I had yesterday. Its pretty bad but I have some medicine that is suppose to help with the irritations. I am so close to being under 300lbs i can smell it. I only wish I had done this years ago but that is in the past.. my new life began the day I was banded. one more day until I am in the mushy food phase and then one week after that it will be solids. I am excited. Visited my mom today and she noticed my weight loss. she was very proud of me. I can not wait for more wL. I am hoping that with my new found health I will be able to be clear of all the health issues and develop a fresh outlook on other things. Well thats all i have to say for now.
  8. oh btw my fitness pal is a great app for tracking food. exercise, and water intake. you can also add friends too. I tend to look at what some of my friends eat so i can compare it and get more variety to my food choices.
  9. My doctor suggested to me to take in 60g of protein a day and to keep each meal about 300 cals each leaving 300 cals for snacks. what helped me lose the weight was planning my meals out on microsoft word. and every friday I would go get the items on my list and break down my meats in a freezer bag. Its a hassle to always cook, but at least you know what you are getting. anyhow, adding protein will not make you gain weight, it will make you feel fuller longer. just remember to eat your protein first. substituting protein shakes for a meal will not hurt you either.
  10. what about a vitamin shop? I know they sell it online but I'd imagine it would suck to have to wait a week to get it.
  11. thanks to another lapband member I tried the blue raspberry flavor and it also taste pretty good . if its to tart maybe adding a pack of splenda might help.
  12. 60-90g of protein a day. MY doctor told me to drink as much protein as I can handle. After a week i can only handle a cup or two a day of the protein shake and barely two cups of water. Everyone is different though. Did your doctor give you a booklet of foods you could eat during each phase?? I can upload mine if you want when i get home.

It is a wonderful feeling. especially when people notice. It makes you feel like you are heading in the right direction. I just saw advertising for the Taste of Chicago. I havent been there in years so i wont really miss much this year.
  14. thanks for sharing this it look amazing.

Thank you shelly!! I am still happy with my choice and i know it will take time. I am still in the beginning stages so I still have a lot to learn. I treated myself to another sf freeze pop. lol I see my doctor again on friday. I'll be starting my mushy foods and hopefully getting my staples taken out.
  16. Where do you get your primer from?
  17. I was able to eat another jello cup and a sugar free Popsicle It's strange because I can feel my stomach making sounds like its hungry but i don't have an appetite for food. in an hour i will try to drink a protein shake. I've been reading a lot of blogs and comments on here and its making my head spin. I am worried about getting filled. some people said it hurt and they didn't feel good after the shot. I was under the impression that they numbed the port site before injecting you with the needle?? I was happy when I saw my friend gabby yesterday. She gave me a hug and looked at me and said you look great and she noticed that I lost weight. That felt great to hear someone say 327 looked great. I'm sure I am less than that. I just don't want to face the scale because It's not really about the numbers. its about how i feel. coming from 379/380 all the way to the low 300's is awesome. I can walk down a flight of stairs now without slumping over or being out of breath. I can walk on a treadmill for an hour at a pace of 2.0-2.6. and I know once i am able to workout again I will continue to progress. My goal is to be able to run. i have a little niece and a little sister that I want to be able to chase around. since I have an extra day off I will spend it trying to relax and focus on getting better. My life has already changed. I've meet three people here who inspired me and many others whose stories have help me. I wish they were in chicago or close around my hometown. I could use a buddy during these times. it helps to talk to people who know what you are going through. ive vented enough for now. enjoy your day. sorry about my randomness and grammar. I am not going to spend much time worrying about that, simply just expressing myself.
  18. The place I went to doesnt carry muscle milk but honestly they only shakes i have tasted and thought it was really good has been special k protein shakes. but it is too high in sugar. the isopure is pretty good but it has a slight after taste.
  19. You shouldn't be scared to talk to your doctors. They are there to help you. I've always felt like people were always looking and talking about me because I was almost 400lbs. I get it from strangers, family(which hurts the most), so called friends. You made the choice to change your life by getting the band. Once you start shedding those pounds you will feel better health wise and in confidence. People will start noticing the changes in you. its hard to say ignore what others say and think but its true. its about how you feel. be young and beautiful ,a lot of people are on your side.
  20. I use body fortress for the powdered protein. For the liquid shakes I use Eas, atkins, slim fast low carb/high protein, and now isopure.
  21. The liquid diet is hard. especially the first couple days. I think it's because our bodies are not use to receiving just liquids. it helps it you get a variety of shakes and soup broths. someone on here told me about isopure at a vitamin shop. its high in protein and it taste like flavored water.
  22. thank you all, I do feel a little better this morning. I am still tired but my back pain is gone. I just think I over did it at work yesterday and the rain and humidity did not help it much. my job doesn't offer light duty options so I just have to try to rest and keep trying to get better.
  23. I was told by my doctor that drinking cold water is bad for your liver and stomach. something about it freezing vessels. I would love to have my water cold.maybe it will go down faster. Has anyone who drinks cold water have any problems with it getting stuck or any other issues?
  24. Today I went to work after one week of being banded. I really thought I would be able to handle my job. I could not do anything. I felt like my staples and stitches were ripping from my skin. I couldn't bend or lift anything more than 5lbs without feeling bad back pains. so I told my boss I was not feeling well and she was upset but told me to take another week off. I was really upset because I let my team down and I let myself down. Financially, this will hurt me but I had to chose my health over my job. I am going to the er tomorrow because I really think I am dehydrated and sorry to say but constipated as well. I took some medicine ten minutes ago so I am hoping for the best. I really could use a desk job, even though that can be stressful too. Well I thought I would just update everyone on my condition and maybe someone who has experienced this could give me some tips on what I could do differently.
  25. thank you! I am going to see them in the morning. I was able to get down a jello cup and a couple sips of water.
