Back to work question
I also had got my band on july 1. today is my first day going back. I know everyone is different but I will let you know how mine went. I do feel that I am not ready to go back. I don't know if its because I feel tired and drained or if I just hate that place. Maybe you can go in for a half day and see how that goes.

one week banded
I received a call from my doctor ten mins ago. I asked her if everything I am experiencing was normal, She said if I am not tolerating my fluids and they come back up I need to go to the er. I will see how today goes. I know last was rough. I felt dizzy and hungry. I felt like I had not eaten enough or drank enough water. I did a skin test for dehydration. (You go to the middle of your arm and you take your index finger and thumb and pull a chuck of skin up. if it goes back down you are fine. if it stays in that pinched position you need to seek help). I forgot to ask my doctor if my band was pre-filled. she informed me that if I had any other questions or concerns to call them. I just don't want to become a pain in the butt, but this is my health and life so maybe I should keep asking. They have a support group but it is not nearly anything like this site. Today is my first day of work. I start at 3pm. I am low on energy and I won't be able to rely on my energy drinks and no vitamins. I just have to get through four days before I can move on to the mushy foods. I hope I can tolerate eggs and oatmeal. I don't understand how I can't have grits but I can eat oatmeal. They said it's because grits are sliders. I guess I am going to try to drink some soup and see how I feel because my stomach is starting to talk. lol I hope you all have a great day.

sickness
Im feeling a little sick right now. I am not sure if I am dyhydrated, bloated, hungry, or sick. perhaps all of the above. I feel like I am going to vomit but nothing is coming up. I really don't want to force it. So in the morning I will be calling my clinic to ask them if the way im feeling is normal for a week after being banded. Im going to try to drink some water and try to go to bed. maybe that will help.

I have been banded for 6 days and I am on the liquid diet too. I however am not fortunate like you. I am barely getting to drink half a cup of water and chicken broth. did you buy a variety of protein shakes? Its hard to find good tasting healthy shakes. try using cambells soup. drain the noodles or rice and drink the juice.

Day 7
As stated it is day 7 for me or to be more accurate day 6 and five hours... I am able to drink a little bit more of water today. I think I might have gotten one and a half cups of water down for the entire day. I am still having chest pains but only when i sip my liquids. its strange because it is like i can now feel the liquids traveling down my throat into my stomach. I stop because i feel like the water or broth is coming back up. I am getting a small appetite back but I can't eat. tomorrow is my first day at work, i don't think i am ready, but I am out of vacation time. I hope it goes well. I am going to try to sip some green tea and chicken broth. good day!!

How do your other doctors feel about you tting the lapband?
my pcp did not want me to get the lapband. she thought I could do it by myself. I've been trying for 10 years to do it and I don't regret my choice to be banded.

I'm 20 and just got the band!
It just bothers me so to hear people confronted by friends and family over weight loss. I was sick of not being able to play with my little sister and my niece. Having my doctors tell me that if I don't do something about it I could have all these health risks. I also am tired of the teasing and bullying over being the size that I was. It is a very hard choice to decide to work hard to be healthier and an even harder choice to decide to be banded. I decided not to tell anyone that I had the surgery except my parents, sisters, and my grandma just as a precaution. I told one friend and he was not really helpful. He kept telling me I was fine the way I was and that I shouldn't do it because it is dangerous. The statement that he made, "I was fine the way I was", was a horrible thing to say. I know being 379 was not fine. if you can't be honest with me or just be a friend and be supportive why are you my friend? I made the choice to not tell certain people because I did not want to put any doubts in my head. If you don't want everyone in your business or don't feel comfortable saying you had LB, tell them you did it with a strict diet and working out five days a week. it's still the truth just not fully detailed. Also having the band doesn't mean you can not have children. they just don't recommend it in the first year. I don't have extra skin yet because I was just banded on July 1, 2013. I've lost 50lbs pre-opt and 10lbs so far after the band. ever since I found this site I have been on here everyday.

That's why I never told anyone what surgery I was having. I feel that we are not taking the easy road. We still have to work hard to make sure we stick to our diets, workout schedules. The best thing to do is to tell the people who are being negative the following statement. "I feel when you say negative things about the choices I have made about my health are extremely negative and I do not wish to hear anything about the subject anymore." If the people we love are not supportive why should we let them bring our happiness down to zero. continue to strive and make it on your journey. You have support here on this site.

Day 6 after the lapband surgery
As day 6 comes to a close I wanted to post how I was doing. I am still having chest and arm pain. I know for sure it is from the gas. My only thought on that is that there needs to be a way for them to be able to suck all of that gas out of us. It's very painful. I am suppose to be drinking 64oz of water , but that is not the case. I am barely drinking 1/4 of a cup of any liquids without feeling full or feeling like the liquids are coming back up. then I get this pain in my chest. I don;t know if that is a sign to stop. I think it might be because my stomach is swollen still.I fear that I will dehydrate and get the shakes again. I had an episode of shaking and feeling jittery from not eating. So I had put some pinto beans in a blender and had maybe four or five sips of that. it went down ok but I have a headache now. I guess i didnt process the thought of the after pain. I figured the medicine would be enough to stop the pain from the gas. It wasnt until today that I started to feel anything from my incisions. it;s very minimum. I coughed once today, actually a couple seconds ago. I wonder what do they do when people get sick? since they said coughing is good. Maybe im just thinking about this too much. Well god night lapband members.

Pre-op diet killing me mentally!
I was on full 14 days liquid diet of protein shakes, chicken broth and water. It was the hardest thing to do. my doctor said it depends on your bmi, and weight. if you have a larger belly you need to shrink not only the liver but the fat around the liver and stomach. since the liver is right there, you don't want to risk the chance of him slicing that. if it is not the right size or not enough room, they will not operate, and you will be closed up and you will have to start your diet over again.
