  1. Thank you for sharing, This is very helpful!!
  2. I would like to know more about the turbulence training.. My body needs more muscle. I am in, too!! My plan for this month is 1 1/2 hrs cardio, increase eliptical to 30 min and 45 min Natalius workouts both upper and lower with increased weights.
  3. It is when your Doctor put saline solution into your port of the lapband to make it tighter around your stomach. If you are lucky the Dr will use a florescope to do the fills and double check how tight the band is. If you are not lucky your docotr will stab you with a needle and blindly add saline hoping it is the right adjustment. I got to the point where I insisited the fills were done with the help of a radioloist site. That is how I found out my lapband leaked. Some people are very lucky and dont have leaks in their lapbands.
  4. I too was given the decesion to do RNY or Sleeve. After my experince from the lapband, I really wanted a choice where I would be healthy. Remember I was 100% compliant, then I started experincing pain in my stoamach. I couldnt keep Protein down even if I eat the smallest amounts stopping before I was full. The problem was my body was rejecting all protein and I wouldnt now it until it happened and I threw up. I had extensive test ran, to find out my lapband had a leak and at surgery my New Doctor showed me in the Xrays that it was twisted. He stated that 3% of lapband patients do really well on it. Others do not, they are the luck and fortunate ones.. I suffered from Acid reflux and gerd, my endoscope showed that I had started to have scar tissue. So for me the Sleeve was my 1st choice but I also had to have a Espohageal Manometry Test done to make sure I would be a good candate for the sleeve. It was a very expensive test. Check it out on webmd, yes it wasnt fun. But it gave my Doctor the answers that I could go forward to having the sleeve. For me after being malnurished from the lapband I wanted the ability to eat well and take my Vitamins too. Now the RNY is great if you are a diabetic. I was told it would help anyone immidately with their craving for sweets. My doctor suggested it to me since my father had died due to complications from obisity and this would help get the weight off quickly. The RNY is a wonderful tool for those that are diabetic or those who have alot to loose and have health issues. We all have the right to have a healtier life!! I had the lapband over 5 yrs. I had my sleeve surgery in Jan and I am so Happy I did I am only a little bit over 10 weeks out and I have lost 53 lbs. I have more energy then ever, I work out every day and more then anything I count my blessing each and every day to be alive and well. I was I just met with my Endocrinologist and she couldnt be happier with my desecion to go from LapBand to Sleeve. My Cardiologist was extremly happy with my test results and how good I am doing with the Sleeve as well. Having said all this, remember each of us has a journey to be healthier. So do your research and go to all the meetings you can to learn about the variety of WLS out there. YOU are worth it, so be healthy.
  5. Cherbear, Congratulations on all your success!! Your so right you did give yourself the best Birthday present ever, Way to luv yourself girlie!! Now Have fun shopping for a happy Birthday to me gift too!!
  6. Congratulations on your wonderful success!! Those pictures are worth a 1000 praises!
  7. I would say taking the first step with WLS is great. What is also important is to work on your body and mind as well so when the weight comes off you will be able to adjust your thought process as well. II must admit at first your mind is the hardest thing to adjust to this new life style and having the ability to talk with someone does help.

  14. I am a Band-Sleeve revision patient and so happy I did it! Lapband life I begain throwing up and having reflux the issue from any kind of Protein I ate it was really bad. I had every endoscopy test possible to ensure I was a candidate for the sleeve. I too was on Nexuim during that time. My revision surgery January and with in a few weeks I was complety off my Nexium and that lump in my throat was gone as well. The best thing about my revision is I can now hug my daughter with out any pain!! I do not tolerate sugar free products and cant handle sugar like I used too. For me I wanted to be able to eat food and cook food the way my family and I like it. Another deciding factor was being able to take and absorb Vitamins so I chose not to do the bypass. Do your research have all the test you can to help you make an the best educated decession for yourself and above all believe yourself. You can do it!!
  15. I agree with the others Grandma's and relatives can be harsh on you.. Forgive her and move on, take photos of yourself each week and measurements too. Then when someone says anything too you, you will have your own proof and you will not have prove anything to them. Yes, it can mess with your mind, if you let it. Just wait until summer and surprise her again!
  16. Thank you ladies for your response to my call for help. It is nice there are people I can ask for help on these forums regarding eatting right after having a Sleeve Revision and while trying to be smart and not fall into the wrong way of looking at food now. hhhHappy- i did put a call in to Nut/DR office but they havent called back, yet. Ktklass- I will go out and buy some Premier shakes from costco this weekend, they have 30gr of Protein and that will help me get the protein in that I need. EscapePod, thank you for your words of kindness and wisdom. Your right grief isnt normal there are days when it hits you and days when your just numb. I do appreciate your honesty. I lost my father many years ago and turned to "comfort food". This time I wanted to be smart. It is true that I havent been getting my Water in and that is something I try really hard to do. When i realized that I also figured I wasnt so hungry either just 3 meals a day instead of my 6 small meals. hugs to all of you again.
  17. Can you take her to the peditrician and then get your self on good probiotics just to be safe. Hope you lil girl feels better soon!
  18. Hello Vets, I thought I would ask the experinced sleevers this question and maybe others can help too. My family and i spent the week in ICU my mom had an infection in her lungs and passed away. While we were there I did take shakes/water with me to have before and after but I got off track with my eatting on schedule. Now that things have settled down and I am home I am having a hard time getting all my protein in. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am not sure if this is normal or should I be worried? Thanks
  19. It is hard for me to see the change, but I know it is happening. A very wise sleever told me to take front, side and back photos along my journey So I would be able to see the changes as they happened. It takes me a bit to grasp even with photo evidence that I am getting smaller. Sheeze I still gravitate to bigger clothes at Dress Barn just by habit.
  20. Madam, I just luv ya!! Funny I just lost another pound too!! zeepity do dah!! So in the future the formulation is SW-CW= X then X / GW = % lost? Yes size in clothes is a crazy thing, I hope to feel good in my body the number on the clothes is nice to see go down. I just wonder where that will be in the future. Hoping the building of muscle will help out the number of plastics in the future.
  21. oh this was a good post I needed the laugh and the realness of it all. Longtime coming, I get the comparision thing we are all human an sometimes do it.. Sheeze I had a friend who was pregnant compare herself to me and my wieght loss. Seriously, it hurt. I was like you gave birth to a child and all i did was loose fat, Really? But she found me to be a treat for a bit and I just stayed away for a while. Now with that said it is easy to compare but there are ladies on this site who would kill for your hair, just sayin" And weight loss too. When I get to goal I hope and pray my bmi will be healthy and my arms will have dents in them.. Ohhhhh ya and lets not forget the thighs to be skinner. Hey Madam How Am i doing stats wise? starting 240 now 192 10 wks out.
  22. Hey all, Surgery on 1/17 lost 46 lbs with a 7 wk stall I might add. cal 700-900 work out m-s, sunday in the pool and family time. Lots of Protein and Water carbs very minimal. Also Lost 4-5 inches b,w,b and 3 top sizes & 2 pant sizes!! I am very blessed by the support i have found on here.. I love my sleeve! Learned Valentine candy isnt worth it, I can go to the movies and dont have to have popcorn to watch it, Yay!!
  23. sw 198 final weigh in 193 5lb loss not bad after a 7 wk stall. HaPPy St PaTTy's Day everyone!!
  24. I had this problem too my first letter of approval was denied. You havent mentioned your BMI and many of us have had to fight for the 2nd letter to be approved. Hang in there and fight the good fight. Your health is worth it.
  25. This is a great thread to read. I agree stalls are very frustrating I expected the 3 week stall from months of research on these forum. What i didnt expect is a 7 week stall, Yep I said it 7 weeks stall. However during that time I stayed the course on my water intake and watch my protein intake as well. I also kept going to the gym and now I have seen the scale move downwards and My endurance level is much higher. It helps to take measurements and also to have a scale that measures your water weight, and muscle mass so if the scale showing weight doesnt move, the others will!! So keep up your good work and have faith the sleeve will work for you!
