  1. I have to agree about calling your insurance. But if you are like me several phone calls in and no answer. So I decided to look on my insurance website under bariatric surgury and see what are the comorbidities requirements for you to continue on your path to being sleeved. Bookmark the page so you have a reference to go by. Good Luck!
  2. You are such a brave women! It looks like alot of pain but I am sure it was worth it to ya because you look fabulas. Can you post after pics from healing a few weeks? Oh Please!!
  3. Thank you all so much, I wish I had those great come backs in my mind at the time. We all know the fat comments can be hurtful. I just cried on the way home floored someone would say such a thing.
  4. So I went to my Doctors to get an Xray of my foot, since I used to be a Xray tech I asked to view my film. I have a bone spur in my heal, no wonder it hurts to walk. Then this Older Slender Nurse ask me why I am in here I tell her to get my foot look at and to get Doc's approval for VSG surgery. She give me this look.. Ya all know the look. Then she hits me with Well you know you can fix that. But I am not supposed to say anything but "Off the Record".. Wait for it... Remember I am in a gown and I can't leave, I am captive to hear what she says... She blurts Out "There are no FAT Pows. Really, I must have given her a look lady ya gotta be kidding me. I almost hit the floor. Then she point to her mouth and says If ya dont put it in here, it cant come out here and she points to her bottom. Ok, beem me up scotty before I "off the record, Kill someone!!" I smile and walk out her Xray lab as fast as i can limp. Slowly i get release to go back to my Dr and get the referrals I need in order to check of the Pre-Op list of to do's. Seriously, What would you have done?
  5. Woot, woot ya got your treamil up and running!! Hey now a Sister being a trigger can be dificult but now that you know that add 10 minutes on the treadmil and go for it. In no time this lil trigger will be your inspiration to a better you and let's face soon your healthy and wonderful heart will out shine any triggers or daggers she throws your way. There is a saying keep your friends close and your enemies closer- pinky finger to the lip. Glad you kept to your pre-op diet too
  6. Just had to laugh, a good weigh in is a good weigh in!
  7. Isnt funny how everyone wants to tell us how small we are and that we dont need it. Yet we have family that has gone down this road of obesity and bad health so the history is there and by all means you do not want to repeat it. I say do what is right for you! Continue to see your doctor and go through all the hoops to get the surgery! Good luck to ya.
  8. Woot, Woot test done and you are looking at surgery soon!
  9. This is extremely hard since you need to be signed off by your doctor to get the approval letter sent to your insurance. I found away around going to my primary doctor and went to my obgyn. she was caring, compassionate and sent in the referral for my revision surgery. Now I drive 2 hours away (4hrs round trip) out of network to get the proper care from my New surgeon. So there is an additional cost but I think I am worth it! Good luck!
  10. Wow that is encouraging to hear! You go gurl!!
  11. Why is he unsure of your surgery? Have you asked him to write down his reasoning. Sometimes people can write down their feelings on paper easier then saying them. Perhaps if you asked him to write down his pro's and con's about you having surgery, and at the same time you can write down the pro's and con's for your self. Please note there are some people who will be in you life for just a season. Maybe the person who is your real cheerleader is the one who is willing to come home from India to be there for you could be the person who will always be by your side. Remember you must believe in yourself before others will. Those who dont do not need to be in your life. Hang in there

Hang in there, you are going through a season of change and with that comes some self questioning.. What am i doing? Soon you will look back at this and say I did it!! So set your goals, be you own bestfriend and love your self. Reset some of the New home goals and make your new home as comfortable as you can! Take care!
  13. What a great question, I was thinking the same thing. With the lapband i got to where I wasnt able to keep down protein (beef, chicken) I would also wake up from a deep sleep and have to vomit it was just stomach acid nothing more. So because of that I had an endoscopy done and it did show some scarring and i was given Nexum to help clear the acid. This is one reason my New doctor suggested the rny but I really want the sleeve.
  14. Love the victory walk, Maybe its on youtube. Nah just kidding. Or am i??? pinky too corner lip
  15. Hey everyone, soon to be an ex-lapbander (09). Hoping to be revision sleever. Just wanna thank you all and the group for being to lurk and cry along the way. Because of this site I found out I am not crazy. And decided to go for it and continue the good fight to being healthy and happy. Teeny bit of history. Ex Dr wanted me to gain 30 + lbs in order to qualify.I had a feeling my band wasn't working any more and when i asked him to check it he couldn't find anything off to radiologist who only found 3cc. But i was told it worked, really then where did the 9cc go? I demanded to have all Fluid released knowing I would go on this journey to have the sleeve done. I knew deep down inside this Dr-X wasn't for me any more. He was very demeaning towards me. See my story for all that. I knew i had to go on this journey for me My bones hurt all the time, I have no energy, my heart and body have had a hard time with the weight i gained just getting the lapband released and now I ma at 37.7 bmi. Dr X wanted me to be at 40 bmi before he would even talk to me about surgery. Last week I went to my new Doctor (2 hrs away) for a consult and found out that i don't have gain any more weight in order to qualify that this new Dr will fight for me and do a peer to peer consult with my insurance. My Xrays I kept showed that my port was put in me in a way that would cause my port tubing to crack and ultimately fail. (new Dr is a teaching Dr and he explained it to his student also a Dr. ) That was refreshing to hear. Yet I was simmering with anger towards Dr-X now.. I am fighting mad. In a stand up for me kinda way. Now I am going through the motions of getting all pre-op doctor visits done (esphogram, endoscopy, nutritionist, Cardio, ekg test, psych eval & blood work etc.)in order to make my case and get approved for Sleeve! Any suggestion would be helpful! Has anyone who had the lapband had problems with Acid reflux after their band was loosened? Only to have problems with Acid reflux when sleeved? Mine seems to be settling down, so I wonder.. Thanks!
