Any other September 2013 bandsters?
I have a hard time finding this thread with the new format...but it pops up every once and a while and here you all are! Things are moving along really well and was happy to go shopping and fit into size 16 skinny jeans....emptied my closet this weekend of every 18, 20, 22 and 24 pair of pants I own and now I am left with the 4 new pairs of pants I bought and a couple of stretchy 14/16 which I can still wear and not have them look like clown pants. Wasnt sure if I should get rid of all of those clothes and then I figured I am NEVER going back to those sizes again...so clean, clean, clean I did. And it felt GOOD! I still have not had a fill and I believe the plication has a big part to do with that. I'm feeling satisfied with what Im eating and not deprived at all...and that is the key for me this time! Have my 5 month check up coming this Friday so we will see how that goes. Can't believe its been 5 months already! Wishing you all a great day!

Hello Lap Banders!
Hello and welcome! This is an AMAZING site with some truly great people. Glad to hear you are feeling good and doing well. Sorry to hear of the additional issues you are dealing with....one day at a time I say. Having my band was one of the best things I've done for myself and i take each day as it comes and try to learn from it! There is a big learning curve with a band, in my opinion, and i get better as each day passes. I always remember that this is a long term journey and will be won in that fashion as well. Failure is not an option this time around! Good luck and keep us posted on your journey!

Complete loss of appetite
This is definitely an interesting topic for me. I had lap band with plication back in september and i have yet to have had a fill....guessing because of the added plication. I get hungry, not enough to have a fill, but also dont have the same desire to eat or cravings I once did. And since I havent had a fill yet, am I or will I ever be in the desired green zone....i wonder about this often. The weight is coming off and my doctor is pleased so I guess all is okay for now! Thanks for sharing your experiences veterans and not-yet veterans!

Port area still sore
My port area was sore for quite a while (can't give you a specific time frame). I remember that was the last part of feeling better in the healing process, for me anyway. Even now, 4 1/2 months out, the port gets sore sometimes...maybe its just because im so conscious of it at times. If you are concerned or feel there is a problem give your doc a call.

Carbs are NOT my friend
My doc said I can eat whatever I can tolerate...so far that has been everything except triscuits make me feel uncomfortable. I dont love steak so no great desire there but there is nothing off limits for me. Every doc is different which is why you will probably read so many time to follow YOUR doctors rules and regs.

Weight loss first week
Take it one day at a time....the weight does seem to "fly off" at times especially in the beginning.....i'm 75 lbs down and 4 1/2 months post op and it seems bizarre to me....but im eating healthier than ever and meeting all of my requirements and that is what my body wants to do and my doctor is okay with it all...so I'm enjoying the ride and feeling proud of the hard work and the accomplishments so far. Congrats on your loss...and enjoy it!

Dog Food
Great comparison....you are right....sometimes we dont realize how much our bodies carry because we have become so accustomed to it...i often think of carrying 15 5 pound bags of potatoes home at once...its crazy!!

Great job! I just cleaned out my closet today of size 18, 20, 22, AND 24 pants....LOL Now I have 5 pairs of size 16's that fit me....it was nice to be able to rid myself of all that baggage...won't be going back there! Super super job...thanks for sharing it!

Need Talking Off the Ledge
All of the above posts have pretty much said it all. Nerves are normal...this is a huge decision that is going to be life long. I was banded (w/plication) on 9/19 and I am feeling wonderful both physically and mentally. Food no longer controls me (although it still gets the best of me on occasion...i am only human after all) One thing I remind myself of daily is that this is not a quick fix to being overweight for my entire life. This is a day to day process with some ups and downs along the way. I'm enjoying my life and Im enjoying my life not always focused on whats going into my mouth next. I have found success by NOT depriving myself of anything as long as it does not upset my band...and so far the only thing I can say is uncomfortable are Triscuit crackers. This is a lifestyle and NOT a diet anymore. I choose to make better food choices and sometimes I will treat myself with a bite of something "special"...and Im okay with that...In the past it would have been the whole darn thing. Well, my one big piece of advice is too hang in there...after the surgery I had several days of "buyers remorse" and cried and cried about "what did i do to myself". With a super supportive hubby I got past those days...part of it was fear and part was feeling crappy after surgery. But every day that passed I felt better and better...and as the weeks passed I learned what i was supposed to do...there is a big learning curve here so be sure to cut yourself some slack...you will NOT be perfect...I dont believe anyone is...I surely am not. But it has been the best decision I have ever made and I just purchased my first pair of size 16 skinny jeans (actually 4 of them...lol)....probably havent had a pair of jeans since college....and am happy to be throwing out my stretch pants. This forum is amazing and you will find some truly SPECTACULAR AND GENUINE AND KIND people here....find those that support you and follow them. We are ALL in this together....and noone truly knows how all this feels unless you have gone through it yourself. Wishing you all the success in the world...keep us posted on all that is happening....good luck!

Recipies suitable for lapband SUPERBOWL PARTY?
Oh yummy....Cheesy-Chili dip.... spread a block of reduced fat cream cheese in casserole dish Spread chili (w/ or w/o beans) on top Sprinkly reduced shredded cheese on top Microwave until cheese is melted and heated through. Serve with tortilla chips. One little scoopful goes pretty far and its warm and creamy and so Super Bowl-ish! YUMMY!

Two Months so far, is this normal?
Please dont take it as criticism....all doctors and their support staff have a different protocol...I'm just confused by the "map" your were shown about how your weight loss was going to be. If you could explain that map to me, I'm curious. I just don't understand how you can be given a map when there are so many variables....what you eat, how you exercise, your time of month etc. etc. I feel sad that you seem to be putting so much stress on yourself that you "are not doing it right" when there is no right, in my opinion...you are losing....AND THAT IS RIGHT!! Hang in there and PLEASE let us know what your nutritionist tells you....we are here to support you!

Starving!
Hang in there...you've come so far.....you can do it and you will be great post-surgery. Alot of it is a mind game--mixed in with hunger pains....hang in there! You've done great so far...you said it yourself. You are worth sticking it out these last few days! Drink, drink, drink! Good luck and keep us posted!
