  1. I am 5 months post op and have not had a fill yet and I am satisfied with 3 small meals and 1 snack (on occasion). I did have lap band with plication...and some say it is the plication doing it....i'm just happy that it is happening the way it is! I had the same experience as you of not being hungry. It is different for everyone...if you are following your docs orders and getting in all of your requirements than I would think you are on track. If you are concerned you should defiantely call your doctors office and check with them to ease your mind!
  2. That is great...thank you...i will remember that next time "I can't" creeps into my head!
  3. The same thing happens to me now too...i have to inquire about it too!!!!!
  4. My nutritionist wasn't happy when i told her i was eating cheerios. Ive since switched to kashi go-lean crunch and special K's high Protein which really holds me, especially the kashi. As for lunch i like to eat egg, chicken or tuna salad. I make my own with a little light mayo...one can of tuna or one can of swanson chicken or 2 hard boiled eggs makes a half cup of food with some crackers...and its a lot of protein and filling. Im no doctor or nutritionist but could your body be holding on to what you're consuming because you are eating so little that it thinks you are not getting enough ...just a thought. Im agreeing with the others, please call your doc/nutritionist to help you!! Good luck and let us know how you make out!!!!!
  5. Thanks for posting them! It was a very nice afternoon...look forward to doing it again in the future!
  6. Pictures came out great!!! It was a nice afternoon...great to hang out with all of you!
  7. Hoping you are feeling better and things are looking up for you. You are an inspiration not because of all of your successes but because you are human and struggle as well. Half the battle is acknowledging the trouble one has and then moving forward with things and you are doing just that. Wishing you all the best and you are missed!
  8. Me and my baby girl selfles
  9. Such wonderful news all around! Congratulations on everything.....ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
  10. Well hello movie star! That was great! Loved hearing a voice to go with your beautiful face! You are such an inspiration and will continue to be one for me. Not only did you change your life for the better in so many positive ways but you continue to help so many of us on this very site and now you are helping others in your own neck of the woods. You should be so proud of yourself. I am happy to know you!
  11. Looking forward to it..see you then!
  12. What a wonderful accomplishment...way to go! You look terrific! Thank you for sharing your story!
  13. Hi....feel your frustration with just wanting to eat and eat and eat.....I have the band w/plication and have not had a fill yet but am feeling okay eating those 3 meals and one snack a day....but there are still times when i want that something and I am NOT hungry AT ALL...I feel those are learned habits I must break! I'm still learning to stop at that feeling of "okay you've had enough--you dont need to eat more or clean your plate"...dinner is my tough meal...maybe because my others are portioned so well and Im eating at work....but even at dinner....im learning to stop eating when i feel "OK"...learning that it is okay to stop. I dont have a pronounced "soft stop" that some speak of like a hiccup or burp....so I just have to slow down and listen to how I truly feel...and that is SO DARN HARD because I just want to eat it all and more! But even then I can continue to eat and eat and eat and eat....and once or twice I have until I got that uncomfortable feeling of pressure and even pain and learned my lesson....never stuck though...thank goodness. So, in my opinion, and someone please correct me if I am wrong...the band is not meant or will not stop you from WANTING to eat and eat and eat....some of it is just self-control and a re-training of our brains...and yes, the lack of that self control is what got us to overweight in the first place. And Im not sure if self control is the best term.....maybe urge is better!!!!! So even though I am at an ok place with the size of my meals and losing weight I STILL HAVE THAT "WANT" TO JUST EAT....thats when i need to find something else to do to keep busy. I dont think any WLS would help me with that....am I making sense??? I hope my experience lets you know that you are definitely not alone and I feel that having this band is hard work...but its hard work that Im willing to put in it...and there is a very very very big learning curve with it all.... Please dont be discouraged....we got here over a long period of time and it may take a long period of time to figure it all out and get it off...but as long as we NEVER give up we are ahead of the game. Good luck!
  14. Congratulations...what a WONDERFUL accomplishment.... I can't wait to be ON SALE....LOL
  15. 100 calorie packs of almonds laughing cow mini baby bell light cheese friendship on the go 1% cottage cheese (20 grams protein) i like pure Protein bars (usually find them in CVS--20 grams per bar those are my usual go to Snacks....
  16. First and foremost you need to check with YOUR doctor/nutritionist about their recommendations for you to have a healthy diet ASAP! Most doctors give a list of what you should and should not be consuming. EVERY doctor has different Protein requirements as well. With that being said, I was on full liquids for 2 weeks post op and they were primarily protein shakes. Good luck!
  17. HI Connie....from Long Island, New York as well!
  18. Congratulations and much success to you! It is a wild ride and sooooo worth it! Embrace each day and be proud of your accomplishments...both big and small. Have a great day!
  19. Cut yourself some slack...you had surgery and had a tool "installed" to HELP you...it is not going to be a magic fix! My surgeon told me not to worry about ANY weight loss for the first 6 weeks it was all about healing properly and learning your new mechanics. So to have the weight loss you have had is AWESOME....be happy and Celebrate it. I always try to remember this, because I also want it ALL OFF NOW....I didnt get to be my starting weight over night and the weight loss IS NOT GOING TO COME OFF OVERNIGHT EITHER Be happy, and be proud of yourself for helping yourself get to better health! Have a great day!
  20. I don't watch the show but clicked on your link.....and....OH MY!
  21. I agree...a favorite of mine too...never added cream cheese though..will have to try that yum, yum! Depending on what your doctor considers purees (consistency wise) ...here are some things I had. tuna , chicken , egg salad with light mayo pureed in magic bullet 93% ground beef made into taco meat pureed in magic bullet wendy chilis pureed in magic bullet with a little sour cream no-noodle lasagne....ricotta cheese and some parmesan cheese layered with spaghetti sauce pureed baked chicken w/ little bit of gravy and very smooth loose mashed potatoes If I could puree it I pretty much did....didnt always look that appealing but after 4 weeks of liquids it tasted SO delicious. Hope that helps you some! ENJOY!
  22. I was ALWAYS hot...even in the cold cold winter...NOT ANYMORE! On the flip side, my hubby is hoping since my "temperature change" that the central air will not have to be so darn cold this summer in the house...LOL....time will tell! And since its so cold, icy and snowy in NY I'm looking forward to testing it out! BRRRRRRRRRR
  23. Ditto to all of the above...everyone is different. Personally, 2 weeks all liquids pre-op (clear liquids a few days before) 2 weeks post-op all liquids then 2 weeks mushies than back to solids. Check with your doc at the consultation. Good luck...keep us posted on your journey!!
  24. I used to be a constant, constant food grazer and I dont think I ever really felt hungry thats how often I would eat. And I would eat to excess...well past that thanksgiving dinner stuffed feeling! Since my band w/ plication I am no longer controlled by food. I eat to live and I definitely dont live to eat anymore. I feel lucky that I dont have the cravings that I used to have but there are times when I still want that something...anything. And I try to have a little of it. I find that I do eat whatever I want (within band portions) and I do NOT deprive myself of anything. I eat healthier than I ever have before and choose that first over crappy food. Is it hard, yes...at times. Recently, I've been going through dealing with some old habits of just eating to eat and I really have to think about what and why I am doing it. I've come so far...down 75 lbs and into a size 16 skinny jeans (havent owned jeans in well over 20 years). So, with that, I have to decide what i want more...that chocolate chip cookie or my size 16's. That choice is easy. I've come to far to screw it up. My point, it is work. WLS is NOT a magic wand. Things do not magically happen when you wake up from your surgery. It is a tool...a great tool that must be worked. You have to want to work it (a wise lady told me that...thanks CG), you have to want to listen to it, you have to want it to work for you! And you have to believe in yourself...you must believe that you can and will succeed. WLS is a huge decision. Everyone is different. I've had great success so far with no fills as of yet....I am proud of myself and still learning. Everyday I learn something new. I can't "cheat" my band...it will know. I can't pretend it isnt there...it reminds me. I can't ignore it when I'm tired and want to eat that certain food in quantities like I used to...it WILL remind me. With all that being said....I wish you lots of luck on your decision!! Just remember, you will not know how YOUR band will work until you have it...you will not know YOUR successes until you have it...you will not know YOUR restriction/fills needed/stuck episodes until you have it. So, I know you are looking for answers....many of those you will have to find within yourself. You can read all of our stories and successes and struggles but they are OURS....you have to make your decision based on what your heart tells you...what your research tells you and what your doctors tell you. Wishing you all the best....please let us know of your decision...some great people here who are ready to help and support each other!
  25. That was an EXCELLENT post Katy...thanks for your honest story and for putting it all out there for us to see and learn from. It is great to see a success story out and about and just doing their thing. Hope you pop in once and a while to check on those still working on the beginning of their long term journeys....veterans are such a great resource! thanks again!
