  1. I had weight loss surgery...not lets make a miracle surgery.... I am ALWAYS happy with any weight loss or down movement on the scale...plus a very wise woman keeps reminding me that inches lost with my clothes is a loss as well (thanks CG). Wishing you all the success in the world and hope your nutritionist doesnt have unrealistic expectations for you...after all who had the WLS...you or her! Good luck...will be interested to see her reasoning for why you are NOT being successful!
  2. Sounds like you are doing AWESOME....I feel like the pre-op diet is a big test of our will....i also had the 2 week pre-op and it was hard but you make it through. When I was ever in doubt or nervous as it drew closer to surgery I always remembered why I chose this route and what I wanted my outcome to be....and so far so good it is working and I am happy and feeling better about myself than I EVER have. Good luck....you've got this....good luck come surgery day and be sure to let us know how you are doing!
  3. sounds good...i'm in! Looking forward to it!
  4. Love, love , love the last paragraph. I've had people tell me Im "fading away" and dont need to lose anymore...ummmm I'm only half way to my goal with about 70 more to lose (not sure I will ever see 140 but I can reach for it). I dont see that when i look in the mirror....THAT'S FOR SURE!!! I still havent gone shopping (which I hate to do)...although my 16 pants are hanging on me as are my shirts. I've been shopping in my closet but that is getting scarce now....I dont think i've worn jeans since high school...not sure I will even know how to shop for myself...lol...kind of sad but true!!! I will have to enlist my sister for help!! Maybe I will have a new love for shopping and I can cross over to the "other side" too....thanks for sharing such a great and inspiring story!!!
  5. Congrats and best of luck! You're gonna do great! Feel better and keep us posted!
  6. I am 4 months post op and my doc (and i know everyones is different) said I shouldnt be worrying about losing ANY weight for the first 6 weeks...it was all about learning my mechanics and healing. And yes, everyone's journey and body are so different you can't/shouldnt compare yourself to anyone else....remember its a journey not a quick road trip. Wishing you much success....hang in there!
  7. I loved egg, tuna, chicken salad in the magic bullet. Even had taco meat w/93% ground beef in the magic bullet. Lasagna (ricotta cheese and red sauce heated up)...was yummy too! I ate a lot of the same foods (and still do)...some didnt look so "hot" after being mashed but it tasted awesome after 4 weeks of liquids. Sometimes that will also depend on what your doc considers "mushies". Enjoy!
  8. I agree with you...I find weighing myself often motivating and keeps me on track. Although I try not to get too compulsive with the scale which I have the personality for....
  9. Amazing job....keep up the terrific work! Looking so good.....it does take a while to put the face in the pics sometimes...I know it did for me too! Look forward to seeing that gorgeous face sometime very soon.
  10. I feel your pain, in fact we probably all do, since most of us had a pre-op diet in one form or another. I had a 2 week liquid only pre-op followed by a 2 week liquid only post-op followed by 2 weeks of mushies and then FINALLY onto solids....grand total of 6 weeks without solid food....and yes, it was hard....and no I didnt cheat even once.....why?? I knew why I was making the decision to have WLS in the first place...one cheat here leads to another one there. It wasn't worth it...and like someone above said....it certainly wasnt worth a problem with my surgery. The cravings do and will go away if you stick with it. Nothing about WLS surgery is easy from the pre-op to post-op to life after healing and with the band on an everyday basis....BUT..... IT IS SOOOO WORTH IT (in my opinion)....I am having great success because I am following my doctor and nutritionists plan for me. I am NOT deprived of anything.....and for the first time ever in my life, food is not all consuming...and it is a great feeling. So hang on by your fingernails if necessary but dont cheat...you are worth way more than whatever your urge to eat is!!! You are strong and you can and will do this! Show yourself how important this is to YOU! Good luck!
  11. Yes, freezing here too!! Used to love winter because I was always so HOT...now I can't bundle up enough...always sitting on the couch with a blanket too...my husband laughs! I always have a sweater on too! My hubby is now hoping the central air won't be so darn cold now come this summer!...LOL
  12. I would say it lasted a 2-3 days or so....each day a little better...i'm in Wantagh
  13. I dont remember having any full on pain...just soreness from healing but the prickly pinches were enough to make me sit up straight and say oh wow....ouch!! Im on long island...snow here is CRAZY!!!!!
  14. It's tough...I have a 3 1/2 and 7 year old and besides preparing the foods actually sitting and enjoying the meal is tough with the distractions, and talking and questioning and the COMPLAINING....LOL. I, too, am grateful for the family dinners together but it is hard. I try to drink but that doesnt always work and sometimes I just have a little bite of whatever I'm making. That little bite curbs the desire to eat more until dinner. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Sorry, not the best advice but all I've got...its a day to day battle....good luck and keep us posted!
  15. I had something similar...it was by my port...my doctor just said he didnt feel it was anything but the muscle getting used to/healing where they sewed the port too. It went away in a few days. But was triggered by the way i moved. Hasnt been back since. Thats just my experience...call your doc if you are concerned...they are the best ones to answer your ????'s. Good luck and let us know!
  16. What wonderful success...good for you! Great to hear a success story from someone who has the band long term!
  17. Sounds like you are off to a great start....and finding the answers within yourself is always the most important step in this journey. And please, never forget, this IS A JOURNEY...there are no quick fixes, you still need to be accountable to yourself for every bite of food that goes into your mouth and it IS NOT A QUICK FIX to food addiction or emotional eating. (in my opinion) I take each day as it comes and am accountable to myself for everything that I eat. I don't deprive myself of anything and am happily finding success on my own weight loss journey. Now I can look in the mirror and I can finally see the fruits of my labor ( on most days) and I feel good about myself both physically and mentally...and it is truly a WONDERFUL feeling. Wishing you all the best...and keep us posted!
  18. Congrats to you...it is an exciting time!!!!! Nervous and excited are totally normal....follow your docs instructions....rest after surgery and make sure you give yourself time to heal. Always remember why you chose to have WLS it will help you through the tough days (and there may be some). Good luck and let us know how surgery went
  19. I too check out others carts....thinking back to my days when I was 70 lbs heavier. Although I made bad choices for myself, and rarely and especially now, DO NOT allow my kids to consume the crap that I did. I am happy to say that my 3 1/2 and 7 year old do not like soda of any kind and the Snacks they eat are healthy/healthier choices. Do they enjoy a mini bag of m&m's on occasion and a chocolate chip cookie....absolutely....but i am more conscious of my choices for them....and that is what it comes down to when you have little children....MY CHOICES FOR THEM....A 3 AND 7 YEAR OLD NEED GUIDANCE!! I hope to instill in them the ability to choose good foods now so that they will never go through the weight issues I did.
  20. Looking AMAZING....Congrats to you....love to see success stories!
  21. You look terrific....I too cant always see it in the mirror and have been taking pics to help me see the changes along the way! Way to go...keep it going and keep us posted! LOVE to hear success stories. And our kids have the most honest opinions of all...gotta love their sweetness and their honesty
  22. You look amazing! Congratulations on such a terrific accomplishment....
  23. Cold here in NY...I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned for over an hour....doing things I couldnt do 70 lbs ago! Made my hubby's day...that much less he has to do now! I'm learning that exercise doesn't always have to be an "activity"....just moving more is exercise too. Looking forward to some warmer weather here...can't wait to get back outside and do my walking.
  24. It's a tough one and I feel there is definately a trial and error and a learning curve going on. I felt the same way when I started eating solid food after surgery....afraid one morsel too much would pop my stitches or stretch my pouch. I grew up with the clean your plate club and never left the table w/out feeling like I was about to burst. Today I am 4 months post op and I'm STILL learning...especially at dinner. Breakfast and lunch are fine. I think because my meal is portioned out and I'm done. At dinner i weigh my 3-4 oz of Protein and can accurately eye ball my veggies and little bit of carb. But sometimes i still eat too fast and take too big of bites. Plus there is always more to reach for. I feel a pressure in my chest when i eat too fast...my "tell" for that. I've heard people say they have a "sign" that tells them when they are "good". I've been listening and still dont have something that is blaring to me...but I have noticed a big sigh alot in the middle of my meal and have to learn to stop at that point. It is hard to feel satiety when your used to always bypassing it to the stuffed stage.....but i'm learning. I've never gotten stuck and have only had one case of OMG....what did i do I ate TOO much. Its an individual thing...as with everything else about WLS...just slow down and try to really listen to what your body is telling you.... Wishing you all the best...keep us posted!
