  4. I will have my surgery on the 13th! It's my Valentines Day present to myself! =) I have my pre-op testing on the 5th and will register with the hospital that day as well. I started my pre-op diet on Jan 30th. I have to be on a clear/full liquid diet for the 2 weeks prior to surgery. I've seen a couple of people ask why some of us have to so this, and some that don't really have a strict pre-op diet. I was told that the point of this diet was not only to prep the stomach but to also loose up to 25% of my excess liver fat during that 2 weeks. This will allow them to get around my liver easier to be able to place the band. My surgeon does his procedures as a short stay procedure. I will be registered for a 23 hour stay at the hospital but once I come out of recovery and get back to my room they said they will work on getting me up and walking and once I can hold down liquids and use the bathroom then I will be able to go home. I could only be there a couple hours or I could be there 10 or 12 hours. It all depends on how well I do once I make it back to my room! I wish the best of luck to everyone that has their surgery scheduled.

  8. Hello my name is Anissa. I'm new to the group. I am scheduled for surgery on Feb 13. I started my pre-op diet on Jan 30th. I am 36 years old, 5 foot tall and currently weigh 314lbs. I started the process for surgery Nov 2012. It has taken me 14 months to get everything right with the insurance . I was required to loose 25% of my body weight and keep it off fir 6 months. When I started the process I weighed 382lbs. It has been a long and hard road. I'm very excited to have my surgery and hopefully soon my body will be able to do all the things that my mind wants to do. I am looking forward to meeting new people that are or have gone through what I currently am.
