I had been a vegetarian for 3 years, then I stopped for 3 years..now I feel like it's time to return to a vegetarian diet. however, my nutritionist strongly advised me not to go vegetarian until the summer. she said i need to get in a lot of Protein once i'm sleeved and it'd be harder as a vegetarian. I'm at the point where just looking at meat makes me want to throw up. I'll grill some chicken and stare at it wondering how the hell am i going to eat this. anyone else have this problem?

I dropped from 42 at surgery to 38 a month out. Now at six weeks those pants are already getting loose on me. New belt is helping out.

At surgery I was a 56 waist. Four weeks later, I just bought a pair of slacks with 50 inch waist. And I won't be wearing them long!

I had mine the same day in NJ I have to say I am having it pretty easy as well. I am now just getting sick of my Protein Shakes and plan to go to GNC tomorrow to get some Isopure to change it up a bit. It sounds like we are lucky to get it so easy! Keep up the good work!

First off, congrats on your new sleeve!!! You're on you're way to a new you. When my sister got sleeved they put an abdominal binder on her. You can get them at DME stores. You may wanna ask your dr if it's ok to use it. I know the way you feel, I've had c-sections that felt the same way. The binder is the way to go. Until you get one, take a pillow and hold it in against your tummy when you cough, laugh or get up and down.

i was sleeved on the 13th, Lucky for me, there wasn't much pain.. my only issue is that when I stand up, it feels like my insides are about to fall out. does anyone have any tips for this? I hold my stomach but that's the only thing i can do at this moment. also, when were you able to sleep pn your side?

I am a pre & post op vegetarian down 69 pounds in five months. I will admit that veganism might not be entirely do-able but as an ovo-lacto veggie I have no problems meeting my numbers daily with shakes, tofu, cottage cheese, nuts, seeds, soy, yogurt and seitan. I'm not really allowed Beans, quinoa or chickpeas which were a source of Protein prior too surgery. Nobody is gonna fault you for eating tofu in place of chicken as long as you meet your numbers.

    1. I had a lot of pain. I woke up from the anesthesia and it felt like i had been stabbed (which i sorta was). I was pretty out of it and i just kept moaning for a while... They asked me how much pain i was in and i kept saying "it hurts" descriptive i know. After the initial wake up it got a little better but it still hurts plus i had gas pains on my lower sides of my stomach, my muscles got soar and uncomfortable because i couldn't move and the iv was going to fast and that REALLY hurt. Anyway Im not trying to scare you, most people feel very little pain, I was just shocked at how much i had.
    2. So this might be a little too much information..... but mrs havelock reminded me. During the surgery i was on my TOM. i had a tampon in when i went in and when i woke it was nowhere to be found. If i hadnt just had major surgery it would have been concerned but i had a few little other things on my mind
    3. YES! yay

Hi, I just had mine Tuesday.
    1. Let me just say everyone has a different pain tolerance. I was so medicated right after that I didn't feel anything until the next day. The pain I had was a searing pain on my left side. It wasn't gas, but the pain got me good meds! Dilaudit and touredal (that's not spelled right). They sent me home with percocet. That's been a life saver. I was hoping I would be one of those people that didn't have much pain, but I wasn't...and I have a high pain tolerance.
    2. I was able to wear the hospital underwear/pad because I was on my period.
    3. On day two I was walking to the bathroom alone.
    4. I have on a binder (around my stomach) and it helps ALOT! Everyone says walk and the doctors want you to walk, but when I find that comfy position. I don't move because it's hard for me to find it again. I've gotten up several times and walked around, walked my dog, and went to get a prescription filled. I'm just taking my time. I still have my drain in until next week.

I went through something similar except, the Dr.'s office that I went through had another person's name (similar to mine), her DOB, and her address/phone. I told them when I went to My consultation they had the wrong info. They said they would change it.
Fast forward 6 months (right up to the Friday before my surgery) and they STILL had my information on half of my paperwork incorrect. I still had my surgery (on Tuesday) they told me it wasn't going to affect my surgery. Funny thing is there was another lady with my name (spelled a little differently), different DOB, and of course different address and phone. She was trying to have the surgery too. I hope after all that she got her surgery. I went through ALL my authorizations and made sure it was my info and not hers! CRAZINESS!!!
