I went to my surgeon on Tues and was told that my surgery would take two hours. He would test for leaks while I am in surgery and that way I will not have to be tested the day after. I should be in my room, if one is available, an hour or so after I wake up in recovery room. My doctor has done tons of these surgeries and I am hoping everything goes well.

I'm so thankful for this site. It proves i am not alone in my thinking. Morning and missing FOOD was my set back too. From what i've been reading it does happen. But i guess its like anything else you have to work at it and retrain your way of thinking. I'd rather eat a handfull of food a day then take 6 pills a day. I only shared my choice for this surgery with two people in my office. I already told them if anyone finds out i'm faulting both of them. Which they know i'm crazy so i'm not worried with them telling. I have no desire to share or explain this with only else. They will just have to witness the transformation. And being the Diva I am they betta watch out.....(saying that made me feel better too lol) Good topic.

Thanks kimbernada for the info. I too hope my surgery is boring and "by the numbers". I haven't worn jeans for years now. I like the "George" brand of slacks they sell at Wal-Mart. I have to dress professional at work, except for casual Fridays, but I still wear the slacks. Fortunately, I still have lots of my old shirts and jeans from when I was in my 250 - 270 range. It's only been in the past 3 years that I've gained the extra hundred pounds.
I plan on taking my laptop and a boat load of "The Big Bang Theory" episodes as part of my hospital kit, along with a few of the other things on the "hospital list" I found on the forum.
I am looking forward to having the "problem" of having to buy smaller clothes every few months.

But I guess it plays on my basic fear of change. How am I going to handle being thinner and how people will react and treat me at work and socially. As it is, I have 40 years of knowing how people treat the fat me. Now, I have to worry about how people will treat me as a thin person.
Yep... the big isasue is our head(s). Know and work on this and all will be OK, I believe (and I am as crazy as you are).

Walking has really helped reduce the loose skin on my inner thighs and doing wall push ups is helping reduce my bat wings. :-P Now I'm looking for some form of exercise to reduce my loose stomach skin.
I think that high repetitions, not necessarily high weight or high intensity is the way to go for me. I think the increase fluid and blood flow into the loose skin areas revs up the skin recovery process.

Congrats, you'll be in two hundreds any day now. We get so used to not losing weight that when we do we can't believe it. I thought it wouldn't work either, but.... it's slowly coming off so i'll just roll with it. It's funny because to me I don't look any different(but am wearing smaller size clothes!), so I guess things are right on track. Good luck can't wait to hear when you hit the 200's and then lower. Consider me a cheerleader for you!

Possibly the best entry title EVER. Ok, of the summer for sure! Twoderville can't wait to welcome its newest resident. Just dont' become tooooo comfortable there, because one-derland awaits. I'm preop and I think my feelings will likely be very similar to yours. I keep thinking that I must willingly suspend my disbelief and know that IT IS WORKING! Chances are, I can see myself becoming seriously bruised from pinching myself. Congrats again!

But what if our dreams are reality and it's our waking life that is the dream? If that's the case, then not only am I back at my highest weight, my teeth have fallen out more times than I can count. And I should really put some clothes on before that algebra test starts.

It's hard to break the SCALE. Unless you don't have one. I had gotten rid of mine so now I only use it like once a week when i'm at the gym. But I don't trust the scale...My weight is ALWAYs jumping up and down now that I have gotten closer to my goal weight...It always varies in between 5-8 lbs. So I try not to trust it and pay attention to it "UNLESS ITS A FAVORING NUMBER" . lol but instead focus on how I feel...how my clothes fit...how my body looks to me. I'm excited for you joatsaint I have been where you are. At my heaviest I used to weigh 415lbs. So it can be done , just do it, be active and make good food choices and GOOD LUCK

Yes I am scale obsessed too. I way myself twice a day, but try not to freak out if it doesn't move for a couple of days. Fortunately it hasn't gone up or I probably would freak out. Haven't had any real long stalls yet and I'm hoping that they will stay away!

Forget the red meat for a while; too hard to digest. Even pork is tough. Stick with chicken, fish, eggs and cheese. 1 cup of cottage cheese has 26 grams of protein. Greek yogurt (don't buy the kind with flavors or fruit, even vanilla has sugar) is packed with protein too. Add a little sugar-free jelly or jam for a yummier taste to the cottage cheese and yogurt. Good luck!

I guess I was lucky at my 1st try with tasting protein shakes. I got a 4 pack of EAS carb control chocolate at Walmart - and if you like chocolate, they are pretty good, just a little thinner than I like. So I tossed in a scoop of some powdered chocolate protein I already had and made it a little thicker and chocolatier (is chocolatier a word? :-P)
Anyway, later on I tried Premier Protein chocolate shakes - I had to buy a 12 pack to test them out - and they are even better than EAS, but I still throw in a scoop of the powdered chocolate protein - I just like the thicker feeling. I tried not to go too overboard with my purchasing and just stuck with the basics. I had previously counted on the reduced food bills as part of recovering the cost of surgery over the next 3 to 5 years.
Try not to get too caught up in the excitement of trying new flavors of protein shakes or you may wind up with a bunch of product that you don't eat, wasted money, and get discouraged. You'll only be on the shakes for a short time before your doctor is going to want you to get your nutrition from solid food.

I had to chuckle about the Tab & Fresca comments. I LIVED on Fresca in 1972 while losing 73 lb on Atkin's...(which rendered me 132 lb. and thin for 1st time ever. Of course
had not reached nearly 280 lb. back then which I did by 1998. Now recently 238 and
ready for my surgery 9/12. It never occurred to me I might not be able to eat some
things like sugarless popsicles. And I am happy for the tip to try 1/2 tsp of things at first to see how they go down...but I will remember. Thanks.
