Post-Op 14 Days - Puree Diet

blogs/blog-0382551001357859109.jpgJust got back from my 2 week checkup. Down 21 lbs from my pre-surgery start weight. Doc put me on the puree diet and told me to walk at least 1 hr a day 4 - 5 times a week. That's going to be difficult because of all the rain coming up for the next week.

I'm doing pretty well with cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup and peanut butter. But I've tested a tiny bite of chicken, hamburger and Vienna sausages, seems like anything along those lines is still too tough for my stomach. Almost immediately I can feel rolling gas bubbles in my stomach and I have to burp.

Found some great food storage containers at Wal-Mart. They seem to be the perfect size for how much I can eat at one sitting.

lol! I have those too! They are awesome!

I've found that I like them for another reason as well - I don't have to worry about eating too fast and taking 1 bite too many. I know that 1 container full is all my stomach will hold in one meal.

Forget the red meat for a while; too hard to digest. Even pork is tough. Stick with chicken, fish, eggs and cheese. 1 cup of cottage cheese has 26 grams of protein. Greek yogurt (don't buy the kind with flavors or fruit, even vanilla has sugar) is packed with protein too. Add a little sugar-free jelly or jam for a yummier taste to the cottage cheese and yogurt. Good luck!
