Questions for experienced bandsters (stretching the pouch)
This is indeed a topic I needed to read. I was not informed of drinking/sipping while eating until after my surgery. Now that I am eating solids, I am taking two sips during my meal without problem. However, after reading WASa Bubble Butts post, this scares me. I am in no means eating huge amounts of food. As a matter of fact, I am about 1/3 of a cup of food per meal. But it seems I always need that two sip per meal.... Do you think this will hurt me?

Insurance for Plastic Surgery
My insurace which is Aetna HMO will pay for TT and Breat reduction/augmentation only if there is rashes or the sort that is hindering the patient. Talk with your PCP.... He/She may have information about this. If that doesnt help, call your member services on your insurace and ask them. Hope that helps

Coffee Cravings
Coffee has a very high acid content. If you need coffee, try decaf if possible. If not, deluting the coffee would be best. Or even try to find an acid free coffee. Its better for your stomach.

American Idol 2007
Did you all see what Sanjaya said about JLo? I knew he was arrogant each day that has gone by, but OMG the kids is either "stupid is as stupid does," or he actually grew "some" since the show started! I am glad hailey is gone. Would have like for this to happen before Gina was voted off! I sweat this Idol is a joke!

Last straw stories
I have been overweight my whole life. I dont even remember when i was in the 100# range. For the longest time I would tell myself that I can get this weight off. I would imagine me thin.... I was sick of not being able to walk long distances anymore, i was sick of being looked at in repulsion, I was sick of looking at me this way in a mirror. Sooooo, Four years ago, I decided that the best way for me to lose this weight was having gastric bypass. A lot of my friends were having it done. Then my mother in law and her best friend had a tandom surgery. I watched them have complication after complication. My husbad said NO WAY are you having this surgery. I still went to the meetings, and had all my evaluations done. I still was going to take the chance just so I could lose this weight. It was when my GP doctor called my Bariatric surgeon and had a talk with her about my hip problems and the type of meds I will always be dependent on that they decided for me to have the lapband. I never considered the lapband. I was told it is slow going and you dont lose as muchweight as someone who has the gastric bypass. Well, I have now lost 34lbs since March 29th <THE surgery my of day>and I could not be happier. I now know that I will make a difference in my life! I am happy that this decision was made for me instead of the gastric bypass.... Now my husband is considering doing the same thing!

American Idol 2007
Lastnight I have to give it to Blake and Jordin! They were great! I just have to say that this is the most unfair Idol ever! And I have to agree with Kity, I think it was soooo wrong that Gina got kicked off and sanjaya is continually still there! It is so sad that they are allowing the international vote as well.... India is calling like crazy! Should not be allowed.

bathroom issues...This is a little embarassing
I had the same difficulty! However, I increased my water intake, and ate soups that were mainly vegi... Cambells homestyle vegi soup blended was a lifesaver! It helped flush out everything. I wish you well!

Larry is the Father!
This escape of a so called new story has more time on air then what is going on in the middle east where soldiers and innocent people are dying... I think this sadly is what people are considering news these days....

how many carbs per day is good?
I am on a low carb diet with my band <my choice> but I dont go over 20 grams of carbs the first 2 weeks, and then i stabalize at 40 grams after that..... It works so well for me. And now that I am restricted, I find that I am wanting to eat my protein first leaving no room for carbs in the first place..... Mind you, I get my carbs from my V8 juice and fruit. I stay away from anything that has refined sugars in it.

Psych eval...3 visits???
I had a 1 hour visit for my psych eval, and my insurance paid. I only had a $10.00 co pay.

Have you lost your taste for any favorite foods since being banded?
Quality over quantity is indeed what I am eating as well. I totally understand what you are saying Marjon9

6 small meals verses 3 regular meals
I eat 6 small meals a day.... I dont eat enough for one meal to equal out, so I eat 6 small meals.... Also, I take meds and vitamins that need to be taken with meals, but cant be taken at the same time. It just works out better for me! I have not stopped losing either!

what I wish I had known/done presurgery
Well, for 4 years prior to the surgery, I was on a yo yo ride of, "should I do this or should I not?" Not to mention I was whole heartedly going to do the RNY surgery... I knew very little about the lapband. It wasnt until 2 weeks prior to surgery that both my lapband surgeon and my GP doctor called my and said they would like for me to do the Lapband surgery rather than the gastric bypass. I have sever hip problems and I do depend at time for Motrin and other anti inflamitory meds. They felt that my best option would be for me to have the lapband. With that decided, I only had a couple of weeks to prepare and educate myself on the Lapband. So if i could change anything, it would be my chance to truly educate myself about the proceedure and about how to eat...

Marchies In April
I have yet to see my doctor since my surgery on 3/29... Although, I have spoken to her on the phone a number of times. She told me that a fill will not be in my future unless I start to gain weight. So far, I have lost 31 lbs.... I am very happy with this. I am using my band. It really is a mind set thing. I know its there... I dont want to PB, so I measure my food, eat slow, and enjoy what im eating. When i am done, I dont even think "thats it?" I am satisfied. Knowing and feeling this is such a wonderful accomplishment!

You Guys Are NOT Going To Believe This!
What comes around goes around I say! Karma comes in many strange ways. God help him if he comes down with an illness and his new wifey ships him off to a hospital! I really dont understand why so many people lose their understanding of what virtue and integrity is. I sure hope he isnt being played for a fool, but from what I have read, it wouldnt surprise me if he is.

Fave comfort food?
I would have said chocolate since it was something I felt I should never live without! But since being banded, I totally have lost my taste for chocolate!
-
Fave comfort food?
Cranberry orange scones! I use to make these every Sunday morning for the family, but since I have been banded, I have stopped.... I also miss pancakes!

Should Pets be more than Property?
This law needs to be changed! To many people have lost so much! I know if my dog Sophia got sick, and I had to pay thousands of dollars to make her well, I would want the guilty party to have to pay the vet bills... If this was one of my children, god knows that the law would be on my side.... Well, my dog is my fourth child... I love her as if she were one of my children! The law should show that our animals are our family! I have pet medical insurance for my dog.... it is well worth the extra money to secure your animals health!
