Oh, and hate to burst your bubble about organic food, but after my experiences with actual organic farmers, I'm reluctant to support them. Here are some examples...
    1) two separate clients contracted worms from eating unwashed organic vegetables. We know this because they came to us to have their dogs dewormer, thinking that's where they got the worms. We directed them (and their physicians) to the CDC website where it clearly described that this type of worm is NOT contracted from animals, but instead, from oral-fecal transmission between people. In other words, the organic veggies they were eating were contaminated with human feces.
    2) organic dairy farmer had a cow trying to give birth but the calf was presenting breech. The only option was to perform a C section, but the farmer wouldn't let us use the local anesthetic required to do this. Instead, both the cow and calf ended up dying
    3) a DIFFERENT organic dairy farmer had a cow with a torn teat that had become infected. He had been feeding garlic to the cow to try and treat the infection which obviously wasn't working. Since we couldn't treat with antibiotics, the teat and part of the udder eventually became gangrenous and the cow was sent to slaughter (and subsequently sold locally as organic beef)
    4) an organic farmer who doesn't treat for weeds produced a crop of hay that was infested with a poisonous weed. The hay was fed to a herd of 10 horses, 7 of which ended up dying.
    5) an entire farm's pigs died from a preventable disease because the farmer wouldn't vaccinate. The owners actually asked if it would still be OK to butcher them.....REALLY? The neighbor's pigs, who were in contact with the sick ones were vaccinated and none of them even got sick
I was raised on my mom's home garden produce and our neighbor's home-raised chickens, eggs, pigs and beef, but when it comes to today's commercial organic food, I'm a bit leery. We see a lot more sick and parasite-ridden organic animals than non-organic ones. For me it's a matter of weighing the alleged potential of harmful chemicals in the food I eat vs animal welfare. (Sorry about hijacking this thread with my rant)

Any diet/eating plan that "bans" any food type/group always gives me the impression it's a fad, and slightly crazy.

I think you and your doctor really have to work together on the CPAP. I did stop using mine 2 months after surgery. I do plan to take this up with my DR at next appointment just to make sure he doesn't want tests done to confirm. I have used it from time to time...but feel really good without it. Felt like this is one of the benefits to losing the weight. I just have history of sleep apnea with father and a brother and it's not weight related for them..so I'm gonna let Doc check to make sure I'm truly in the clear!!!

After 7 months and almost 80 lbs I have had an occasional "carby" breakfast. I usually eat my Protein first and then am VERY satisfied with just a bite or two. You will be amazed at how your body doesn't even crave those kinds of foods any more. I am able to eat most anything I want but I an usually full after my Protein that the other stuff is not as appealing. A bite or two is all I need.
Hope that helps. I was freaked out early after my surgery because my brain and body were not on the same page yet. It takes several months but it will happen. Good luck, stay in touch and welcome to a new and healthier life!!

I work in a hospital and pre-surgery somebody took a bite out of my scotch-egg and put it back with the teeth mark.I took to putting a note with a skull and crossbones on it pointing out that I had spat on my food before putting it in the fridge.Gross I know but completely untrue.Pippinleicester.

Yep. Fat cells are where your body stores hormones, and when you lose weight quickly, the hormones get flushed out of the cells along with the fat. This can lead to all sorts of emotional reactions, from weepiness and depression to mood swings to hair-trigger rages. Plus there's all the stress of surgery, giving up the comfort and stress relief of food, uncertainty about the future, etc. It doesn't happen to everyone but it seems to be pretty common.

chubbsey1 reacted to GreenEyes604 in SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!
I just finished reading a couple of posts and I couldn't do anything but say to myself, "Seriously? Really?"
I know there are going to be some people that will probably what to take my head off for this one, but I just have to ask... Are there really people that frequent this website that are so weak-minded and sensitive that they can be absolutely devastated and sent into an uncontrollable bout of depression over something someone wrote in a thread?
If someone that you don't know, have never met, and they know nothing about you, can cause such an emotional reaction in you, I personally think that you don't even need to be considering WLS at this point. You really should be seeking out the services of a therapist to figure out what makes you give away your personal power to a complete stranger.
I hear people say how "mean" some people are, and how rude others are. People are only to you what you allow them to be, and they can only take control of the power you give them.
I have never testified that I know everything about everything, but to the contrary I'm not dumb as a box of rocks! Bottom line, stop letting the things these people on this site upset you, or even get your dander up. You never know, they may come here just to see what type of drama they can get started. If you find something of value to you, keep it and cherish it. All the rest of this mess is nothing but chatter.
This post may not have been directly toward you, but if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that b i t c h up and wear it.

I had my surgery 2/5. I've been on soft foods for a month. Anyone else not really enjoy eating anymore? Like 3 or 4 bites and I've got a belly ache. I eat slow and small bites and it just never settled right.
    Will that get better???

I'm extremely V-D deficient. That stopped without meds after surgery as did my pre diabetes, beginnings of knee and foot pain and overall damage to my heart.

I, too, lost a lot of weight prop op, along with every time I did WWs, South Beach, Atkins, etc. That was easy, keeping it off wasn't. Now I am almost two years out and maintenance is fairly simple. I have a five pound bounce range and if I hit the top, I go back to all Protein for a few days, lose it and start again. I am done with diets, stress and guilt caused by obesity.

As far as travel. You'll still be able to eat, just not as much. Personally, I don't comprehend traveling just to eat, at least not any more. I now have the energy to see all the sights, the body to shop in all the boutiques and the desire to hit all the beaches. food no longer motivates me. It's an amazing release.

Yes, taste buds may change. I used to live for ice cream, now it makes me feel ill. I no longer want it. Every once in awhile, I'll have a bite but no more than that. The desire is just gone. It's a good thing.

If you aren't ready, don't do it. If you think you can do it non surgically, more power to you! But, if you think you can do it on surgically only to travel to all these places and feast, you are setting yourself up for failure. Think about that logic there.

You won't believe this (I didn't) but right after WLS you won't miss those foods you are thinking about having with your daughter. Instead, you will be overjoyed to simply drink a glass of Water or eat a vegetable/fruit. My first divine food after surgery was steamed broccoli; it was nearly orgasmic! Honest

Sounds like head hunger. If you feel like it's physical, have a Tums or 2. If that helps, you may need a change in your PPI. Acid can mimic hunger. As far as gong "absolutely insane on a cheeseburger", I still have those moments, and I'm allowed that now, but I know if I go insane on it that I will mighty regret it! So, I've learned to love sliders. One slider as a treat once in a while and I'm done. If I can't get the tiny burger, I have learned to love leftovers, (something to look forward to again) or just "leave it". It's cool to be in control!

This is a tough question because taste is a high individualized thing for example I don't care for premier Protein and alot of folks here swear by it. My two choices taste wise are Syntrax nectar Cookies and cream and muscletech from Vitamin shoppe are pretty good. Protein wise Body fortress whey has 30 g per scoop and premiere protein ( I can only stomach the vanilla) has 30 g protein per 11 0z container.

How are all the Feb 17th Sleevers doing??
I havent been on here lately as I had some issues with getting liquids in with pain. Things have gotten better. Pushing thru the pain because its only temporary and won't last forever. Hot tea has been the only thing I could get down without any major pain. Room temperature and cold water/ liquid/ shakes have been a struggle. I'm positive and feel pretty good that I will get past it all.
2 weeks post op tomorrow and the official date of pureed phase. I have had some scrambled eggs and some some ground up meatballs I made. I got it down fine, and I actually had feelings of hunger. I think because I haven't been able to get a lot of Protein in shake wise.
Supposed to go back to work, but still don't have a game plan in place as a routine, I'm still figuring things out. Even with all the complications and pain I have had, it was the right decision to have the surgery. I feel like a new person and for the first time in my life I can say that I am happy and proud of myself.
I responded to a post today to a lady that was just starting her supervised diet she has to do it for 6 months. There was this other lady that responded to her post and was telling her how she eats all this crap she isn't supposed to!! Do any of you find this as annoying and ignorant as I do?? I told the woman just starting off to stay away from people like that, if you buddy up with someone like that they are going to lead you down a path of destruction. It blows my mind the people that get on here and actually brag about all the bad crap they eat!! They never should have had surgery if they are going to continue to eat crap that made them fat in the first place!! Then they have the nerve to complain that they are gaining weight!!! Seriously??? This is a lifestyle change. I understand that people make mistakes, we have times of weakness, and we will all cheat sooner or later. But the whole point is to recognize that behavior and try to modify it. Not brag on a public forum letting people think it is okay. A lot of people come on here for guidance and it scares the hell out of me that someone's journey can get derailed by some idiot that doesn't care about themselves or making the healthy choices they are supposed to make. Okay, I'm done ranting. lol
I hope this finds you all well and happy!! I will be turning 41 in a couple weeks, but I think 2-17-2015 is going to be celebrated as well because it was the day I started a new life. As a gift to myself, I'm getting my nose pierced. I was going to do it last year but never did. I'm going to start doing a lot of things I said I was going to do now.
Wishing you all positive thoughts and progress in your recovery.
    Hugs!!

I have the Smooth Move tea in four different flavors. My favorite is chocolate because I can steep it in my hot chocolate at bedtime and not taste that herbal flavor so much. I use it if I haven't gone for a couple of days. Everything is just fine by morning. I also keep stool softener, Miralax, magnesium tablets, prune juice, and apples on hand. I guess it's the old Girl Scout in me.......be prepared.
