  5. I try to eat this way most of the time it's tough. Here is great cookbook if you can get over the silly tone of the book and don't mind some salty language they have excellent recipes.
  6. This looks interesting but have not seen it at the Market yet. http://beyondmeat.com/products/view/beyond-burger
  7. I waited about a month after surgery. No complications. I used to drink beer too fizzy except for Guinness, I stick with bourbon I usually make manhattans or vodka with a splash of pineapple. I can have about 3 drinks before I'm blitzed. I drink twice a week.
  8. Bourbon or whiskey no problems and low in calories.
  9. I understand where your coming from Mrs.Dixon it is a tough process and I agree that some folks here sugar coat things a bit. Kid gloves do not work for everyone nor does everyone have a great journey. Sometimes I feel like you where I say to myself damn I wish I could go back to the way things were but if I did that I'd still have a my health issues. It's a double edged sword and I understand that, IMHO people need to hear the good, the bad and the ugly before making their own decision. Therefore I have been brutally honest with my friends who are interested in this surgery. Good luck and hang in there!
  10. Hi William, I have coronary artery disease I had two stents placed in my heart with a 99% blockage in one artery and 80% in another and I have similar co morbidities as you. Basically in order to get the surgery I had to get an additional clearance from my cardiologist he was very supportive of my decision. Good luck!
  11. Used vaping to quit 2yrs ago still miss my cigs I used sunflower seeds to fill the void after I stopped vaping.
  12. Responding to posts is a two way street. As far as beer I tried Guiness and it felt like I swallowed an anvil if drink which is rare I do bourbon, whiskey or scotch beer hurts.
  13. Premiere protein bars taste like dirt but have an unbeatable 30g of protein per bar.
  14. Yes you should look for a few things for example, Is your surgeon affiliated with a bariatric center of excellence (http://www.obesityaction.org/educational-resources/resource-articles-2/weight-loss-surgery/bariatric-surgery-centers-of-excellence-why-they-are-important-when-selecting-your-surgeon-and-hospital) Does the surgeon you choose accept your health insurance if you have any. I personally used NYU Langone medical center in Manhattan they fit my criteria and also were recommended by my Primary care Dr. They also have offices in various parts of NY including one office upstate I believe. My surgeon was Dr. Christine Wren Fielding she is in my opinion excellent. Good luck to you on your journey!
  15. You should have water and protein coming out of your ears!
  16. Thanks Nikasio, disconnect is an interesting way of phrasing it I definitely agree I'm 3 months out and this resonates big time. I'm never really satisfied with a meal I think it's a psychological adjustment IMHO because I'm not really hungry when I eat I'm not really satisfied with a meal almost a little depressing no?
  17. I have to try your recipe it sounds yummy!
  18. Cottage cheese with a dash of maple syrup and cinnamon.
  19. Yes the same people that make hummus can't remember the name off hand make an eggplant purée called baba ghanoush it's pretty awesome or just google it for a bunch of recipes.
  20. I was sleeved on 2/17 personally tortillas are little easier mission makes a low carb one that's also very high in fiber.
  21. I'm about 3 1/2 months out, it gets less yucky Lol hang in there and try your best getting your protein and liquids in this is still a struggle especially the liquid! Good luck.
  22. I quit in 2012 using e-cigs after receiving two cardiac stents, sad but I still miss cigarettes and smoking a lot but I know I did the right thing health wise and a pack of smokes in NYC are darn near 13$ bucks a pack which in itself is a deterrent.
