Some people have toe nail problems so they have to get artificial or overlays.... Why they'd want them long wether real or fake is beyond me as it leads to toenail fungus ugh....

Take your pain meds on schedule. I tried to not take them, but by day 3 post op I felt like total crap and taking my meds throughout the next 2 days really helped. Trust us...you will feel back to normal in about a week. Take care.

I've had a pair of pants hanging in my closet for years that I thought, "If I could only lose enough weight to fit into those again, I'd be so happy!" Well, I just put them on... and they're TOO BIG!! And I'm not even done losing yet!! Loving my new life and my lap-band!!!!!

Doing a pre op diet can't hurt since its to shrink your liver. That will help the surgeon greatly.

It's been a long time since I have bought new clothes besides the usual jeans, t-shirts, stretchy pants and shorts because the last time I tried to get something nice to wear to go out, I ended up staying home because everything looked so horrible on me. You see I'm a true lover of fashion and all that goes with it or as my mother used to tell me a real clothes horse! I have so many clothes that broke the rods in 2 closets, have rolling racks, clothes in boxes and enough shoes to open a boutique! At one point after a huge weight loss (gain almost all of it back or I wouldn't be here) I loved clothes so much, I went to work in a high end clothing store just so I could get the discount and I love to dress people! Sad, isn't it?
Well anyway, I ordered a couple of dresses since I am schedule for some orthopedic surgery and I wanted something that was easy on, easy off for the hospital. I took a guess at the size and prayed that they would arrive in time not be too small. Guess what? They did come in time and they were TOO BIG!!! Not only that, but the one I really liked look pretty good one me! I quickly ordered a smaller size of the one I liked and now as I sit here I am thinking I probably should have ordered it 2 sizes smaller than just 1. It may not arrive in time for my surgery date and it too may be too big (I kind of hope so), but guess what? I'm so happy about it, I don't care!

Keep sipping liquids!!! That will keep you from becoming dehydrated. I've notice d that a fill seems to cause the stomach to swell, but the feeling passes after a few days. If you don't feel better soon, I'd call your doctor's office. That seems to be a rather large change in fills.

My PA who does all things at my doc office- except the actual surgery- said that after my first fill, I probably wouldnt notice a difference. Said most people dont notice until 3rd fill. She was right about first one- back to normal starvation, and I go lazy in the ways of band eating somewhat! Expected same for second fill and WOW WAS I WRONG! Lol! I do feel a bit of restriction and have been violently reminded that you must take small bites and chew til your jaw falls off! Couldnt even finish a chik-fil-a 6pc nugget kids meal yesterday while out with friends! That is exciting!! Also weighed in at a pretty decent weight today! THINGS ARE LOOKIN UP!

I'm three weeks post-op and walk/jog 6 days a week (starting last week). My doc allows it and I've had 0 problems. BUT, I've only jogged a few times and its for very short spurts of time followed by fast paced walking. Ask your doc, good luck!!!

Sorry Sojourner, you have your facts wrong. I have pasted in the text of the first amendment to help you.
    Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
This is a private forum and does not fall under the first amendment, Additionally I have seen the owner of this forum (Alex) publicly rebuke a user for handing out false and dangerous advice (And this is his right).
But, if you expect me to stand by while someone tells people to make their band work, they need to do daily enemas with grapefruit juice and black coffee, you are going to to be disappointed.

Sometimes the truth isn't pleasant, but just because you may not like the truth doesn't make it any less true nor does it make it mean.
There are some of us who are honest and don't coddle. Again, that isn't mean. Honesty simply isn't always "nice".

I respectfully disagree, points of view that are based on misinformation and falsehoods are by definition not valid. And before you jump down my freaken throat, I have seen some really stupid (and dangerous) information passed out on this forum as the gospel truth.

everydayigiveitmybest reacted to 2muchfun in Lost the first week, now 6 weeks later just maintaining...normal?
I was banded a little over a year ago(11/28/11). I lost 12 lbs the first two weeks and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. Then I got my 3rd fill and met with my nutritionist. I changed some of my eating habits and started tracking my calories closer. The weight began to fall off after that. Relax, what you are experiencing is very normal and has happened to many of us. Seems like I was hungrier after the surgery than ever before. But, I was a good boy and ate healthy foods, but maybe not the 1/2 cup I was told to eat.

I understand. I had my band done in October of 2008. I lost some weight, gained it all back, lost again, gained again plus even more weight, and now I'm trying my hardest to lose...again. Sigh. Right now I'm at the exact same weight I was when I got the band in the first place (and I've recently lost 8 lbs).
I have only had 4.something ccs in my 10 cc band. I have had trouble going tighter than that, but have come to realize now that I haven't been doing the right thing by my band. Being able to take huge bites of english muffin isn't right. I'm supposed to be taking small bites and possibly not even be able eat bread. And, tonight I was thinking that I would like to have pizza for dinner. I've been thinking about pizza for three weeks. So, I was working out how much I could have and how many points it would be (just joined weight watchers) and I decided I could have two slices of thin crust veggie. And I was thinking, that isn't going to be enough food. I'm going to need a salad too. Then I was like, (parden the profanity) "Jesus! I shouldn't be able to eat a salad and two slices of pizza at all, much less in 20 minutes for dinner!" (I decided to go with a salad and a few baked coconut shrimp instead). And, I decided that after a year of hiding from my surgeon, it is time to go in for a fill. I'm asking myself, what was the point of getting the band in the first place if I'm not going to use it? I didn't pay $16,000 out of pocket for this surgery to not use the tool I've been given. And, FYI, I have really been on a roller coaster with my band. At first I was expecting magic and efforless weight loss. Then, when I realized it wasn't just going to be easy peasy with no effort from me, I got really pissed (again, sorry about the language) and hated the band for a few years. Fairly recently I decided I wanted the darned thing removed and to see if my insurance would pay for bypass or the sleeve. And, thanks to this website and some of the wonderful people here in the forums, have very recently decided that I can't just hate the band when I haven't really given it a chance. I mean, I am pretty non-compliant with the band.
So, I have joined weight watchers and am trying to do a daily 30-60 minute walk out in the desert (soft sand). I made an appointment for a fill today. My appointment is on the 27th. When I called the office, I was disappointed to learn that my long-time nurse I've been seeing doesn't work there anymore! :-( So, I now need to start over with someone new. I am a little disappointed, but maybe this is exactly what I need. A fresh beginning for me and with a fresh person to manage my care (same surgeon's office, just a new PA). I'm going to take a leap and get a moderate fill. I'm going to say I don't want a tiny one, but not a big one either. I want something that I will notice, but won't make me hate life i.e. slime and throw up all the time.

Thats so awesome!! You can do it.....who cares if you have to walk some or all of it the first time. The important thing is you are doing it! One step, one minute at a time. Congrats on your decision.
