I have never stared at a glass of water with such hatred.
I struggle with this too and we can't get Crystal Light or Mio in Australia. There are "cordial mixes" but they are mostly sugary. The only ones that come in diet are lemon, lime, and "lemon lime bitters" flavor. I don't care for the citrusy ones. i miss the Crystal Light packets from when I was in the US. I count coffee, tea, and non-chunky Soups as liquids and I still don't get enough. It's my one struggle. It's not really that the Water tastes bad, I just forget to drink it. If only I would feel thirsty. I am able to get it down better if I squeeze a lime wedge into a glass though. But I think it would be better if I could add some gin!

Nausea and multivitamin
I take a solid vitamin but I don't get nauseated if I take it before bed. The nausea is usually from the iron.

Attention ! Australian Sleevers
I had another great weigh-in and updated my signature. I'm in the 80s in kg, in Onederland in pounds, and just plain morbidly obese! Plus I think I weigh less than my husband, who is a foot taller than me.

Great NSVs! I have to wear a belt now because my damn pants are falling off!- Gotta get blood pressure down before 6/24 surgery
Cut out all table salt and salty foods and drink a lot of water. Walk, or increase your walking if you already do, every day. Why didnt you ask your doctor for suggestions? You can still call them.- My band being removed. I'm trying to decide.. Sleeve or Bypass?
I hope you are asking on the RNY Talk board too. It is a sister of this site and you should get both sides.- Peanut Butter?
I have had smooth natural peanut butter in the purée phase with no trouble. A tablespoon of it is a great dessert.- Travel and the sleeve
This is a great question for your nutritionist or dietitian. We can't answer it without knowing what restrictions you will have on your diet at that time.- Drinking while eating
It has been answered a bunch of times and I'm sure you can search for it, but here is the short version. 1. It washes the food out of your stomach faster and you will get hungry again sooner, and take in more calories. 2. With your smaller stomach partially full of Water, you won't be able to fit in enough Protein and nutrients during your meal, which will set you up for nutrition deficiencies and make you feel hungrier again sooner.- Calories, Exercise, and Metabolism (long)
I was told the way to get it back was serious strength training. I bought a full set of dumbbells but then had to travel for a month for work. I'm getting back to it this week. By the way I have also been told, by my surgeon, that with the sleeve, your metabolism responds positively to a feeling of fullness. Full stomach = body doesn't get the signal to store fat but to burn it. Under-eating = store energy for the famine. I have read about this in relation to RNY too. It's the "metabolically active" part of these surgeries that banders don't get. It's not necessarily about calories, but about stomach distension, meaning pressure on the top part of the stomach. Not extreme but just enough. I am still very new and shouldn't even be posting here but since you quoted me, I hope it's ok. I want to encourage you not to give up. I hope you find your answers soon even if it is an underlying issue that is holding you back.- Weight of bike
Yes. Lots of thin women ride big bikes.- what is the big hype with greek yogurt?
Yeah sorry I took it off and will edit that post. That was not supposed to look how it looked. Janice can you please edit where you quoted me? It was not my intent to sound like a ******! LOL- 10 days post-op and Im hungry!
First, it sounds like you are having head hunger. That takes a lot of work to get through but it is worth it. If your stomach is growling right now it is probably not real hunger. It is healing and you may be thirsty or there may be excess acid. That can mimic hunger and you can take a PPI to help. Talk with your doctor. Second, cheating on your post-op diet could kill you. The purpose of this phase of the diet is to let your stomach heal. This isn't a joke. A leak could kill you. Vomiting could cause a leak this early out, or over-filling your sleeve. If you get a complication, will that spoonful of spinach be worth having to go through another surgery?- A1c
That's awesome! I am in the same boat as you. I left the hospital with my diabetes in remission and blood sugar levels below 5 mmol/l (80 mg/dl I think). No more metformin. Don't eat complacent though. Some people seem to have a honeymoon and then they have to start managing things again in a few years. Don't let this scare you but don't stop paying attention either.- what is the big hype with greek yogurt?
Greek yogurt is regular yogurt that is strained (like curd is strained to make cheese). It has more Protein because there is more of the yogurt "solids" per volume than regular yogurt. Plain Greek yogurt tastes the same as plain normal yogurt. It's just that most of us are not used to eating plain yogurt at all. I have bought plain yogurt for years and add a teaspoon of jam or honey. While I'm on purée it's just honey. Although I have grown to like it plain. It's also nice to use as a dip. Just add some ranch or French onion Soup powder. I also mix a tbsp of Greek yogurt into cottage cheese because in Australia, cottage cheese is drained more and is more "dry" than the cottage cheese I grew up with in the US. I used to just add a little milk but the yogurt enhances the protein. I eat my cottage cheese with cracked pepper so I accept that I am a weirdo.- Low fat vs fat
The most important thing is to go by your doctor's instructions before you follow the advice of people on a web forum.- Smoking
Ah, this explains the more casual attitude toward smoking. It is really prevalent in the Middle East and Asia still. I will cheer you on with quitting smoking. I know you can do it. Can you go to your GP for help? There are medications you can use to help you quit.- Low fat vs fat
Protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram. Fat has 9.- This has been a magical week!
You look amazing! I'm jealous of you tall people who look great at basically my start weight!- "Skinny Thinking" book club?
Where did you find the workbook? That might be a good way to do it.- water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink...
I hope my libido wakes up soon. I think the fat is still smothering it. I want for my mouth to water.- "Skinny Thinking" book club?
