  1. May 28th for me. I start full liquids on the 21st. Good luck with your procedure and keep us posted on how you do.
  2. I'll check into that, thanks
  3. I went on my first walk for my exercise routine. It was around the block and took 10 min. I walked as fast as I could. I don;t know if I got my heart rate up enough, but I know my legs and back felt it. My knee did fine. I don't know about in a couple of days, but if it starts hurting I'll have to change to water aerobics. I love the water and swimming, but I DO NOT like being in a bathing suit. So, I hope I can keep up the walking. Otherwise....you know. I am proud of myself for getting out there, now to just keep it up. One day at a time. Thanks for listening.
  4. Very nice article. It fits with the lap-band way of eating doesn't it. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I'm sitting here in my house going crazy. I woke up this morning at 4:30, and could not go back to sleep. I've been going crazy over the past week. I've got about 3 weeks before my surgery and I am so anxious. I mean really anxious. I am obsessed with this website I've read everything on here. I post whenever I have a question, just so I can communicate and interact with people going through what I'm going through. I keep trying to find new people to talk to. I don't have anyone around that I know personally that has or is going through this. I'm so obsessed with getting my lap-band that it can't come fast enough. Luckily I have meet some people through this site that I talk to, but it doesn't seem to be enough. What's going on with me? Has anyone else been this obsessed with getting the band? I know my husband Is getting tired of hearing me talk about what I've done, what I need to do,what he needs to do, what I should not do etc., you get the picture. But he is being a real trouper. I don't really have any questions to post about so I decided to post this blog and hopefully get some of this energy out. Get this, I hate writing, but that is how bored I am. I know I'll get through this, but I'm driving everyone else, along with myself crazy in the meantime. Maybe I should go for a walk after this, I really hate walking too, but I have to start sometime. Anyone else going crazy waiting? Along with all this I'm also on a high protein low carb diet and staying at about 1200 calories, which seems to be adding to this anxious bored feeling, I don't know why, maybe because I can't eat and don't know what to do with my time and energy. Writing that just mad me think, that might be it I just finished finals too. I think I eat when I get bored and I don't have anything as of yet to take it's place. Not even banded yet and having issues,Oh boy. It is a weird feeling it is a lost feeling. Can anyone relate? Funny, this has been therapeutic, I never would have thought. I have heard journaling(sp?) is helpful but did not believe it. Learn something new everyday. Well that's about it just needed to vent some. Good luck to everyone with your journey.
  6. Congratulations, keep up the good work. I bet it feels good.
  7. Good to know, I get banded the 28th of May, and I have heard of the dreaded gas pains.
  8. I believe the next meeting is Sunday the 2nd of June. I found the information on a forum called obesity help. The forum covers all weight loss surgeries. I think, but I'm not sure if you have to be a member to go to the meetings because they announce when the meeting is and then you RSVP on the site. I joined and I will find out for sure and let you know. I'm sure they welcome anyone. But it is in Keller Plaza Center, 303 N. Main Street I don't think I can make the next meeting because my surgery is the 28th of May. I'll have to see. I will let you know what if anything you have to do.
  9. I don't have any wise words of wisdom I have not even been banded yet. But I just wanted to let you know that I have been going through the exact same thing. I carry my weight well so I don't LOOK the weight I AM. I have had all the same thoughts as you as a matter of fact I recently posted about It. Funny today I don't feel that way anymore, but who know about tomorrow. I think for some it is normal to have all kinds if different emotions. So unless something gets in my way to stop it I'm going through with it. I have been trying to diet on my own and to no avail. So I can't do this on my own, maybe you can. You will figure out if it is nerves or not before it is time. Just listen to yourself and you will be fine. Good luck.
  10. Aside from the medications that are out there, my dermatologist had me put vasalene,(I so mis-spelled that) on anytime she would cut or take a sample from my skin and put a couple stitches in it while it was healing. She said it was the best thing to help with scarring. It worked for me, but I'd ask your Dr. first. Now if there already healed the only thing I know is the over the counter meds. I don't know any names. But it doesn't sound like from the other post that there is bad scarring.. I personally don't know I have not been banded yet I have 3 wks. But I have been cut on and the vasalene helped. Best of luck
  11. Hi Tammy, I'm having my surgery in Decatur, TX on the 28th of May. Have you been banded yet? It's nice to meet people around me. I don't know anyone personally that has or is getting WLS. How are you doing? I found a WLS support group called OH Support in Keller, they meet the first Sunday of the month in case you were interested in something like that too.Well I just thought I'd introduce myself. I've talked to the lady in McKinney she is real nice.
  12. I haven't been banded yet so I don't know what your going through. I think the best thing though is to talk with your Dr., Which I know you said you were, so that's good. I'm sorry your having this problem and I hope everything comes out OK. Good luck
  13. That is wonderful. I love hearing all the success stories it helps with all the bad things I hear and then I get afraid to have the surgery. Keep doing what your doing it's working for you.
  14. AMAZING! Did you have the lap-band? I'm guessing you did, but wow. I could only hope to lose that fast. You did a great job your an inspiration. Keep up the good work. What is your secret ?
  15. You look great. You can really see the difference. I hope I do as well as you. Good luck the rest of the way.
  16. Do you just have to exercise to lose weight? I was planning on starting to walk after my surgery. But I've been on a high protein low carb diet before my surgery, and I use MFP to keep track of my calories and keep in mind I'm not exercising. I'm suppose to be able to eat 1800 and some calories, seems like a lot to me , but that's what it said. I'm not loosing anything. I thought it was calories in calories out kind of thing. Is it simply a matter of exercise or is it to many calories or both? And yes I hate exercise and have a bad knee, but do plan I doing it I know I have to. But I was just curious why I am not losing something. I don't want this to be what happens with the band. Can you just be unable to lose. I am 5'3 and 277 pounds, plus I am 47 yrs old, and was thinking my metabolism might be shot or something. I do have a thyroid (hypo) problem but it is OK on meds. I'm guessing the answers going to be to exercise Actually I hope it is that simple. Not easy but simple. BTW my nut said he has no calorie or quantity restrictions for me he said just eating healthy would take care of everything when I get the band..
  17. Your making me homesick. My dad made them with the whole spread of Mexican food. I won't go into detail people might kill me. When I make them they just don't seem to taste as good as they did when I was growing up. I think he left out a secret ingredient when he showed me how. But things always taste better to me when other people cook it.
  18. I quit 8 mths ago. I used E-cigs also. They have a couple different % of nicotine I started at the highest and went to the lowest, and then slowly tapered down how much I smoked. I got down to about a couple drags every once in awhile and then none. It was easier than I expected, easier than all the other times. Now I just have to never pick one up. That is the hard part. But so far so good I get banded the 28th of May.
  19. What is Iband? I saw it advertised on a billboard, but that's about it. Thanks
  20. Hi mugs Well with all my fears I have started this and will finish this the same way,and that is my trust in god. I will take one day at a time making only the decision I need to make at that time. Right now I'm scared about not succeeding, but as long as there is nothing in my way I'll keep on going. If something comes up to not allow the surgery to happen then it must not be the right time. I've had a couple of things that kept this surgery from happening, it took 9 years for me to get this close. Even a couple of months ago I thought I was going to have to put it off, but so far so good. I don't know if any of this helps you, but I do know you can only make the best decision you can with the information you have at that time. I would just hate for you to miss out on an opportunity to change your life, as would I . But you are the only one that can make the decision. So I wish you well and good luck with whatever decision you make,.
  21. I have not been banded yet,but I know my Dr. wants me on Isopure after my surgery. They have 40 grams of protein in them so you can get a lot more protein in with less drinking. That might help you some. oh and if your on clear liquids, they are clear. I found them at The Vitamin Shoppe.
  22. I don't understand what's going on with me for the past couple of weeks I've been having second thoughts about getting this surgery. I look in the mirror and just think is this really going to work. I think yea maybe I'll lose 25 pounds or so but will it really work, so that I don;t have to look and feel this way anymore. I just can;t see myself that way right now. I just keep thinking am I going to go through this and nothing happen and I'll just have stuff inside me. I don't know why I'm so discouraged it seems to work for most people that work it, but all I see is the failure part or the complication part. Something will happen or I'll just happen to fail again. Like my fate is to be fat. I can't stand the thought. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. Has anyone gone though this? Maybe this is normal, just maybe. Thanks for letting me vent.
  23. If you look at mis73's post, she has a link at the bottom of her page that reads "lap-band is not about restriction" It is a good read, but in there they discuss how someone could unknowingly slowly stretch out the pouch. It may help you a little if you read it. I enjoyed the whole article, and learned a lot about how the band works. I am glad Missy keeps it on her page. Good luck with your journey.
  24. I'm glad it worked for you. Good luck on your journey.
