If you are drinking cold Water, try warm. Try chicken broth if Water doesn't work. Add flavor drops to the water. Drink G2. It is very important to be hydrated at this time, or you could end up with dehydration. If you are on full liquids, try no sugar added hot cocoa, skim or 1% milk, Decaf tea or coffee.
    Good luck.

Much of the weight we lose right after surgery is Water we're retaining. The process could slow down once you squeeze out much of this excess Fluid. I agree with Missy and setting a realistic goal of maybe 20 lbs by year end is more achievable. The Holidays can be a hard gauntlet to travel.
But there's no harm in shooting for the moon so hit it hard and who knows?

If you were really big, say over 300 pounds, I'd say it was realistic because weight comes off faster the more you have to lose. But because you're not, I really don't think aiming to lose more than 2 pounds per week is realistic. If I were you, I'd aim for maybe 25 at most.
    Just my opinion.

I don't think he is incompetent, as much as it's new to them. At first my insurance did require me to be monitored for 6 months by a physician for weight loss b/4 they would approve the surgery. My insurance was new to cover the band and some things weren't clear at first as to the what / whens, but I am glad I was patient and it all worked out. But I can advise you to stay on top of it, so you don't miss out on the opportunity to have the surgery. Good luck. Tammy

Wow, I will find out Thursday what costs are w/o insurance. I am thinking about changing jobs but was just banded March 2013 so if it's that expensive for fills, that might make my decision to stay at current job..

I'm really sorry, I feel like I only post things when I'm feeling low and need to moan at someone, I don't really have anyone I can talk to you see as only a hand full of people know about my band and those who do aren't the most supportive about it.
Anyway.. I was banded in June and since then I have have 6cc put into my 10 band. I haven't had any problems really. I have only been sick once and that was my own fault because I didn't chew properly and rushed, before my band I always eat on the go so not used to taking my time. I'm still really bad at eating slow! Has anyone got any tips for slowing down? I did buy myself a egg timer that times 30seconds but as I'm always around people I feel stupid because they don't know. I have also got myself a baby's knife and fork set which is ok but I do get some strange looks!!
This is going to sound really stupid but can anyone explain what feeling full feels like? I really do feel stupid for asking this. I'm really bad at picking food thought out the day rather than having large meals so iv never really felt full. This does worry me quite a lot.
I have millions of more questions but I don't want to bore people with them.
Again I'm sorry for the moan!!
If anyone would like to talk and have a moan back please feel free!!

TBone55 reacted to Ladybandito in Too tight? Or is this typical?
I would say this is normal, although I keep my band relatively loose and can eat just about anything. I avoid rice and bread because of the carbs and the fact that they swell in your upper stomach, but if you can eat some meats (moist, tender) I would say you are fine as long as you're comfortable with it.

Wonderful not being hungry. Did your dietitian give you a menu to follow about your food intake? I know I am suppose to have at least 20g of Protein at a meal. Best to ask the experts what they want you to consume daily. Each doctor has their own view on this.

Don't think so! If you have a stuck episode, try either pineapple juice or coke. Both work about the same. If I use them, I drink them warm. It only takes a couple ounces to relieve, or upchuck the stuck thing. Good luck to anyone who has a stuck episode!

Banded on May 21st 2013 (Weighed 330 2 weeks prior to surgery) today I'm 279. Got my second fill yesterday and I think I'm perfectly in the green zone. In my opinion the green zone is the place where you have to be conscious of chewing and if you eat too quickly you get the stuck feeling almost instantly. On average I can eat about 1 hamburger patty per meal. Feels great my goal is 120 pounds so I'm almost halfway there.

Keep going. Hang in there. I was banded on 3/8/13 and I just am now feeling restriction. It took multiple fills. But I have dieted and exercised my little heart out, and I am down 55 pounds. You can do this

The first month to 6 weeks is for healing. It reads like you may be weighing yourself too often. If you weigh yourself too often, you might be setting yourself up for unnecessary negative feelings about a sense of lack of progress with weight loss.
And there are also weight loss plateaus which you likely will encounter along the way. The message here is that continuing to do the right things with healthy food choices, Portion Control, and exercise will in the long run allow you to lose weight.
The band has taught me the life lesson of patience like no other experience. Stay the course, and you will see your progress.
Best wishes for a successful journey...

Hi there. I was exactly where you are but guess what? We are only supposed to lose 2 to 8 pounds per month (4 weeks) and the fact that you have lost 6 is right where you are supposed to be. More than likely depending on how you feel, your doctor may or may not give you a fill. You can't let what other posters post scare you. Keep following your instructions and you will be fine. You are already on your way. Keep going and good luck.

TBone55 reacted to AudreeS in 6 years banded, but beginning the journey anew!
Hello, my name is Audree. I was banded in January of 2007, so over 6 years ago. My surgery was done in Mexico by Dr. Ariel Ortiz. I am a self pay lower bmi bandster. I also have the Inamed 4cc band, low profile port. My highest weight before surgery was about 195. Prior to that after I had my daughters, my highest weight was 240. My lowest was about 160 and I am around 166. Its been a few years since I was able to go back to see him for a check up or fill, so I can eat with almost no restriction. The only exception to this is right before my cycle, if I am stressed or eat to fast.

I recently got married and have a new insurance. I was happy to find out that I could be seen here for check ups and fills by my new doctor in the States Dr. Phillippe Quilici in Burbank. I had my band checked and they said it was fine. I got a .5 fill which supposedly put me at 3.5 I thought they said. I felt very little restriction. So, I am going back this month on the 24th to get another fill. I am excited to use my band again after all this time and finally get down to my goal of 150. I am really looking for encouragement as a lower bmi bandster who is close to goal. I am about 16 pounds away from my all time goal. Then I know that maintaining it off will be the new goal. With little restriction I had to maintain and/or lose maintaining between 175-165 for the last few years. But I know the band still keeps me from eating as much as I could without it. There are days I don't feel as restricted, then there are days I can definitely feel it! I am doing a 5 day pouch reset currently on day 2 before I get my fill next week on Thursday.
I am super excited to get back on my journey!!!

I was banded March 22,2013. Today was my first follow-up with the Doctor and my first fill. I found out I have a 10cc band. Forgot how much fill I got. I have lost post surgery 22 lbs with 2 weeks of staying the same weight . One week was the first week of Real food and second was last week. I was opting not to get a fill--- BUT the last 2 weeks I wasn't feeling full after my 1/2 c servings.
This going on Clear liquids for 2 days Is MENTALLY Challenging.. 2 days of the Full liquid is not going to be much better..
I no I can do this. But weather is raining and School's out for Summer so I 'm not working. Got to keep busy with something.
I have 39 more lbs to go to get to my Goal Weight. They didn't measure me so I don't no how much they have changed.
Can't wait to go down another size.. It's the Greatest feeling putting on clothes that I couldn't even get into 3 months ago..
I have been VERY constipated doc sez that's because I'm not drinking enough Water.
Sure glad I switched offices because Nurse at old office told me Well you won't drink as much as you did before banding.. It was because of her and her attitude and non compassion I switched offices.. Same Surgeon group just different location..
Well this is all for now.. Stay Positive Stay positive.. I keep saying this in my head.
    Happy weight loss everyone!!!

I would have to say no. Breads aren't a soft food, in fact, they're one of the most likely foods to get stuck. I personally wouldn't risk it until you're on real food again,

It's not the fact it was specifically bread, it's the fact I highly doubt you're supposed to have bread or anything more than maybe liquids or mushies at only 13 days post op.
Btw, chewing food to mush does not count. If it's not the consistency of baby food before it hits your mouth then it's not considered mushy food post diet acceptable.
Your stomach has been manipulated and sutured. It's wounded and needs time to heal. It's no wonder you're having this problem because you're not giving that swelling time to resolve itself.
Get back on your post op diet, follow it strictly, and tell your doctor exactly what you did and the result after. Let him make sure you didn't do any damage.
    Best wishes.
