No, I've had complications, have no energy, lost only 11 lbs in about 6weeks post-op, and can't eat even the "safe" foods (protein shakes, yogurt, etc.). So for right now...no way!

As most all on this forum have done the up and down of weight loss only to gain it back those that have had the surgery (majority) would do it again. I am one of those that would not. Yes, I was 244 and am now 187. My goal is 145 to 150. I am about 5 months out. Point is, I never tried the DIETING like most have and probably should have done that to see if I could have done it on my own. Guess I just went to the head of the line so to say. Anyway, today I eat about anything I want but just MUCH smaller portions. Like everyone else, eat too much..get sick, throw-up or have the runs. Still have lots of things I can't keep down. Emotional eating has gone away (good thing) and am happy with only 1 meal a day (this is wrong so I am told). I did win a bicycle in a local Dr. Pepper drawing a few weeks ago so I have no excuse NOT to exercise.

short message to those that feel the surgery was wrong, not for them or feel they should have done it on their own. some folks will vilify your decision. best to keep your thoughts to yourself and move on. this thread is more of a very pro surgery forum and most critical thoughts are not very welcome. I had my sleeve done on May 22nd and I wouldn't repeat this if I could have viewed what it would be like afterwards. I regret it fully. It won't even be worth it when I'm a 100lbs lighter....which would put me at 164 as of today. Yes, I miss food. Mostly, I'm annoyed I could die by eating a sunflower seed. This is crazy. Should have done 3 lean and greens.
Its to late now so I'm dealing with it.
Lastly don't be offended if someone post something you do not agree with. Seriously, its called freedom of speech.

it is obvious that you have jumped to a conclusion and did not understand the depth of the posting. Several of your postings contain "not saying that to be mean" which readers really understand as being mean. is this a request so an honest debate will not be addressed on this thread?

Never, This surgery did help me to lose all this weight and i'm grateful. But in return it cost me my stomach and a few scars.
I don't really care about those scars but the stomach i really care about. I'm trying to bulk and its very hard with my small stomach. I'm 10 months post up and I can't eat enough amount of Protein.
I jog 5k everyday in under 30 mins. I really didn't knew I had it in me. If i only pushed myself before doing the surgery. I would've done it alone
Its not that i'm not grateful but I could've done it naturally.

I appreciate the encouraging suggestions and truly helpful suggestions. However, this forum thread is a "would you do it again" and say why. I have found that if you do not embrace the WLS line one must be on the defensive from those that tend to belittle the poster. As I have posted, I knew what to expect and knew the risks. I thought an OPINION thread was to have BOTH sides represented. Guess I must have stepped on some toes with my posts.......although they weren't fat toes.

I am happy for all the folks that have had successful results from the surgery. As stated before I would not opt to have this surgery again if I could turn back the hands of time. I cannot do this however. So, I shall live with the loss of hair ( have been told this is normal and will come back....we shall see), lack of energy and endurance ( I get fatigued more easily now), have lost sexual desire (was told this would get better...has gotten worse), food is of no interest even though I feel hungry, when I eat I throw up, I used to enjoy cooking but making such small amounts seem worthless and by and large all the good things that were supposed to happen are greatly diminished. The surgery went well with no infections so that is not a worry and recovery went well. Perhaps I expected too much.

I am four weeks out, and right now I regret my decision. I had the surgery for a better quality and healthy life but I feel that I will never feel "right" again. I feel like everything gets stuck in my chest (like a pill that went down the wrong way). I hope it gets better and hope I will be happy with my decision in a month from now.

I posted here a while back, saying how happy and thrilled I am with my sleeve. After reading page after page of dialogue regarding regrets, depression, marital issues, complications, etc., I realized one thing about myself. This journey is a roller coaster ride. I have had quite a few "bad" days...days I do not come on to VST or seek help, advise, or anything. As a food "addict"-I can say that the weight loss part of this journey is the easy part. Its the addiction to food, the stuffing, the hiding...for whatever reason, that is the hardest part of this journey for those of us who have not experienced any discernible complication (leaks, etc.). If I were to respond on one of the days where I wanted to stuff -- and couldn't -- my response would be so different! Just like in life and in relationships - there are good and bad days. If people who are looking into having WLS don't address the addiction, they are bound to be miserable! Food and worrying about what I was going to eat next took up too much time in my life - now there are gaping holes in my days. Gaps that are allowing me to be outside more, spend more time doing things with my family, spend more time with God.

...Several people have asked several questions of me above...please feel free to message me, and I would be more than happy to answer more about it. I feel I have given quite lengthy and honest answers above & on other similar threads, but I am more than willing to respond in a message if you would like & I especially respond to those who are pre-op always. I will not be silenced about my feeling on wls. People can be as rude and obnoxious as they would like with me...it just strengthens my resolve! This surgery is NOT for everyone. And just because I state that, doesn't mean I didn't think, didn't read, research, attend several support groups, interview those who had wls, participate in therapy, know the risks, know the hair loss dangers, know the consequences, realize the physical changes, realize the mental changes, etc etc etc - ...everybody is different. Everybody's perspective is needed on a forum such as this. Everybody has a right to be here & speak their truth.
Last week, I started a thread called Manners Matter - I am untechno, so I don't know how to bring it back up...but in a nut shell I stated - if you read someone's post & you cannot say anything nice or supportive to that person - or the person's thoughts/feelings/questions are so 'anti' to your own that you can respond in a appropriate manner...then, please don't respond to the person, period....I tell my middle schoolers every day ' if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, period'...I think some 'adults' on here need to hear the same thing! If you are a part of the 98% - great for you. If you are a part of the 2% - like myself - hopefully each day will get better for us. Either side of the coin, ought to be able to express themselves freely & comfortably without being berated or asked asinine questions...or just frankly bombarded with rude comments. From various threads on regret - which I always attempt to reply because I feel true regret - I have noticed it is always the same people who have the same negative response to anyone who regrets or just even questions any aspect of the surgery...so maybe look in the mirror and ask yourself why you always feel compelled to respond...you say you are the 98% & you love your sleeve...then, why respond?? Go on with your happy sleeve to the next thread...Why not allow us 2% people to help others in the 2% without your negativity???? Just a suggestion...

in my first post I stated I had lost 30 lbs presurgery. As this was my first SERIOUS attempt to lose weight and I think I would have been better served trying to go it on my own, close my eyes on the money I had already spent, not given in to the pressure from surgery staff and my spouse and just eat less and exercise more. I was already well on the right path. Would I do it again if I could keep the food down and had the energy? Well, prior to surgery I had the energy and could keep food down and as stated I was losing weight. So I do not feel like I needed the surgery. What is done is done. Perhaps I should not post on this forum any longer since I do not buy into the WLS dogma.

Normal, normal and normal....those are the test results....am I still losing weight?...you bet I am as I can't keep much down and not for long.......I take bites the size of a thumb nail, can barely choke down 3oz of grilled hamburger meat in 20 minutes.....sight of cooking food, which I used to enjoy, is not there.....BTW, I know better than to over eat or snack between meals...expectations of more energy and better sex drive did not happen.......I am losing weight ( the only expectation to happen ), still on blood pressure meds......guess I should be happy with ONLY the weight loss.......so to answer you I guess that is ALL I should expect....sorry if I am not a cheerleader for gastric sleeve surgery....glad it worked for others but, did not 100% work for me....CAVEAT EMPTOR should be observed.
