I heard 8cc is a good number on a 14cc band, can't wait for the next fill which will put me at 8cc - 8.5cc depending on what the doc decides to put in. I am back to the starving feelings and I hate it.

Ok I went to the surgeons office today for my regular check up and hopped on the scale. I'm down 8 pounds for the month. All this time, I'm beating myself about my weight not moving and this is the reason. I'm so relieved!
I told the doc I live in a old traditional brick bungalow and he said maybe your floors aren't leveled. PROBABLY SO!
So my advice to the new bandsters! Make sure your scale is accurate and your house is leveled. Lol

It seems that many new and old bandsters don't understand how their band works. It's supposed to decrease your appetite so that you're less hungry or not hungry for hours after a meal. It's purpose is to help some nerves in your stomach relay signals to your brain that you've eaten enough long before you've eaten too much.
Some foods will not give your pouch/band the pressure you need to stimulate those nerves. For instance, most of us could probably eat 2-3 cups of Soup. It goes right through your band and into your lower stomach. You might feel full but most likely, you're not satisfied. That's because the pouch and your esophogus didn't have to work at all for those fluids to pass through.
Some of these Jenny Craig, smart ones, lean cuisine meals will not give you the satiety that 4-6 ozs of Protein and some veggies will. They're OK to eat as they are low in calories but don't expect to feel satisfied with some of them(there are exceptions).
If you eat healthy food your band will help you to feel satisfied sooner and you will eat less. That is how I understand the mechanics of the band.

First, I say do whatever works for you. Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Atkins, etc. There is no right or wrong it's a matter of finding the best fit for your metabolism.
The reason Jenny Craig works is because it's low calorie. Contrary to the current low carb fad- carbs are not bad. They are calories. Just like you have to make wise Protein choices you just have to make wise carb choices, too. I've lost 200 pounds in 15 months and I don't restrict carbs, I just try to eat healthy carbs.
Sugar, in moderation (if you're not diabetic), is fine too.
It's all about calories and all those programs focus on limiting them. Weight loss comes down to basic math- if you burn more calories than you consume you lose. That's what these programs do.
    Best wishes.

I have never looked into any of those diet programs. What I can tell you is that unhealthy carbs are major culprits in weight gain.
I did not review your profile, so I am unaware of your status regarding band surgery.
I have done my best to avoid processed foods in all areas of my diet since being banded. With processed foods, your observations are correct. Too much sodium and too many unhealthy carbs. There are usually many additives which one would need a degree in chemistry to understand. I prefer those chemicals to be in a science lab, and not on my plate!
    Best wishes...

Anything that sounds too good to be true usually is. For permanent weight loss and health follow your surgeon and nutritionist's recommendations. It is a life style change, a journey, not a destination!

I'm not sure if this is a question as much as a statement?! For newbies this site can be very overwhelming. I've found chatting with people to be the most positive experience; however, it has also been the most negative. I know, I know... It's just like anything in life you take the good and throw away the bad. However, discouraging people to make yourself feel better or preaching at someone when you are struggling with the same issue doesn't bode well with me. If I need help, I'll ask. If I don't ask you then that usually means I don't really respect you're approach and would prefer to ask my mentor. I just wanted to tell all the other newbies "Hello!". Hang in there and you will connect with some very amazing people who will help you and love you along your journey. Just be weary. To those of you who have been around awhile, remember it only takes one bad apple. Don't let yourself get in the way of helping someone who is looking for encouragement. Nobody likes a lecture!

All the body wraps work on either thermogenic energy or diuretics- or a combination of both. They can make you shrink inches but if you stop getting the wraps then the inches come back. That is because it's not true "inches", it's Water weight coming off.

I have pcos and have definitely noticed a more regular period with weight loss. I used to get a period once every blue moon and they'd be super super heavy, now I get them roughly every month and they typically last 4-7 days. Obviously regular periods equal regular ovulation so I'm hoping to try and have kids once I lose another 40 pounds or so. Exciting!

So I am a new Band member.....yeah bad joke I know. Any who I had surgery Thursday March 28th. I weighed in at 283.0 as of today I weigh 277.0 I came out of surgery and immediately wanted to get up and walk. By the time I got to the floor it took me 2 hours to convince the nurses to let me up and then it was game over from there...they couldn't stop me. I spent one night in the hospital and I walked every 2 hours and did good. Gas pains sucked but heat packs and pain meds plus all the walking helped. I am home now been doing great. Eating is new. I am currently on puréed foods. I go in Wednesday to get my staples removed and I'll clarify how long I have to be on the puréed foods diet. I had a big hernia and then the band was placed aswell. So I need to be reminded of how long again. This process started about a month ago and I was only just approved Tuesday evening and then I started Clear Liquids Wednesday and went to surgery Thursday morning. It all happened so fast. I am very excited for my new life. Any questions feel free to ask me

Also after surgery ask your doc if he has a sample meal plan booklet. My doctor did and I USE it often.
