dmprem reacted to domi in any sleevers in their late 50's
I'm 56. My beginning weight was 282. I had 6 months of supervised diet, 5 meetings with psychologist and surgery on 4/5/18. Today I am 201. I have finally learned food is fuel, not entertainment. I feel so much better and am so much more active. I have had a few stalls. I realized I need to drink half my weight of Water in ounces every day to lose weight (100 oz.). I have also changed up my exercise from walking and the gym to now swimming. I have a swim coach that is teaching me proper form and he is kicking my body into shape. Best decision of my life!!!!

dmprem got a reaction from Frustr8 in any sleevers in their late 50's
Hi, I'm was a month shy of 55 on July 23rd when I had mine. My doc said I had a major surgery, due to the fact that I had my lap band removed,. Which was bolted in with mesh and was attached to my abdomen. I was in pain for about 2 weeks. I went back to work after 2 weeks, and was still really weak. I'm 4 weeks out tomorrow and am finally feeling good. Still can't walk doe 30 min on the treadmill yet though like I used to.

dmprem got a reaction from Frustr8 in Lap Band to Sleeve
I had my band for 5 1/2 years and didn't have any problems (except weight gain) until about 8 months ago when I went to get a fill. The doctor couldn't find my port which is never been an issue in the past. Turns out my port was turned around and underneath scar tissue. Moving forward on July 23rd approximately 4 weeks ago I had my lap band removed and revision to the sleeve. In my case my lap band did not come out easily for the doctor. It was bolted in with mesh, and attached to my abdomen. My 45-minute surgery took about 2 hours and 15 minutes. But there were no complications other than that and my doctor was able to continue with the sleeve gastrectomy right away. I'm telling you this just to make you aware I did have pain longer than most people do, in my incision mostly. I was pretty weak for about two and a half weeks. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks and I finally feel almost like myself. It was so worth it though. I had a stall after 2 weeks, but I'm now down about 24 pounds since my surgery date. Good luck, you'll do great! Just trust your surgeon!

    Hi all,
It's been a long time since I got on here. I've been struggling in a major way and have been stuck at the same weight for awhile now. I think I've finally got things going in the right direction. Last Thursday, I went to a support group at Dr Bunch's office. They meet every 3rd Thursday of the month.

I just came from my Doctors office after my 3rd fill. I lost another 6 pounds in two weeks. I told him it seemed to easy. He asked me if I was hungry, I said no. He said I was in the green zone. But I am not just eating 1/2 cup of food, I am eating 3 oz of meat and vegatables. He told me as long as I am eating the Protein first that I should keep doing what I am doing. He did give me another cc of Fluid, bringing me up to 3.5 cc's in my 14 cc band. I don't have to go back to see him now unless I lose less than 4 pounds in 2 weeks, and feel like a need a fill. Onward to goal!!!

Had my second fill appointment yesterday. I lost 5 lb. in 2 weeks, so I only got .5cc for a total of 2.5cc. I told him I have been hungry between meals which is why I got the .5. On liquids today so I will see soon if I have any difference on the hunger. I have another appointment in 2 weeks for another fill if needed. Hope I continue to lose 2 lb a week, that would be awesome!

I don't know of any Tampa doctors. I was at Palms of Pasadena, too. Great hospital, really loved it. My surgeon, Dr. Rehnke, not so much. I don't DISlike him, I just don't feel very warm and fuzzy about him. I was spoiled by the primary care doc I had for 20 years before I moved. Now I can't find anyone who measures up.

It is tough. This is what I was on. Your body gets used to eating less after 3 days and the growling in your stomach calms down. just make sure you have everything you need at hand so if you do get hungry you are not tempted to cheat. Willpower has to play a big part in it. How bad do you want it!
    Good luck to you!!

I'm going to rant a bit. I'll be scheduling my surgery this week. I am so excited. This is a long time coming. While out for Mother's Day dinner, I mention to my husband (as he kept pushing me to try something that I had no interest in eating) I said no, and I'm hoping going forward you will not try and sabotage me, but be helpful & supportive.
I went over all the changes we'll need to make as a family, and his response " I'm sorry, I like to eat, and enjoy dining out". I just zipped up for the rest of the night. He's always making me feel bad. I am strong, and my kids are supportive... I'll kick butt!!'

The difference is crazy! I can't even imagine what 50, 60, or 70 will look like! (I lost a few pounds over the last few months, started my pre-op diet a little early (April 1st) and lost 20 lbs, was banded this past Monday (April 29) and have lost an additional 3 lbs.)

Didn't your dr office give you a list of things to eat. If you are on solids now you can pretty much eat anything, just make healthy choices, smaller amounts, and tiny bites and chew chew chew! Your meal should be 2-3 ounces of a dense Protein, 1/4 c of veggies and 1/4 c of a good carb. I hope that helps!
You are doing great with 10 pounds so far. My first six weeks were very slow because your body is healing and you can't exercise as hard. Be patient!

I am still healing from surgery. I am down 23 lbs since pre op diet, mostly 16 from the pre op. I can't weight to start working out again. I want to work this band to the best of my ability!!! Good luck with the final 39 lbs.

Band day Buddies! I know I am still swollen, I can feel it. I am def not discouraged. just wanted some feedback. I am excited for my new life. I was lucky, I thought I was going to have my TOM on my surgery date, but luckily, I skipped last month. This happens occasionally now as I am almost 50 years old.
Good luck! Keep me posted on your progress!

That is pretty much what I thought, just wanted to see if anyone else was in the same boat. My Dr seems to think I am going to do well. He doesn't want me walking yet though until after 2 weeks. Good luck and Congrats on your weight loss. It feels good to buy a smaller size!

Remember that you are still recovering and swollen. I have read where people have not lost a pound for months after the surgery, then all of the sudden it begins to come off. Not what you wanted to hear, but each of us heals differently. Keep your Protein consumption up and be patient. Walk, walk, walk and walk some more. Exercise, Water, and Protein Shakes are a staple of banded life. Right now you are swollen internally and healing, it won't always be like that.
I am 2 months into this life and still feel impatient, but see the steady progress and know that this is the healthier way. I am down from a size 26 to a 22. 264 presurgery to 233 now. This week my weight was none, but I measured 2 inches overall smaller. The body changes differently, not just by weight.
