  1. Clear 100% juices, but no citrus, Sugar free popsicles and jello, low sodium broth, Gas-X, caffeine free tea, Crystal Light. Don't buy too much of thing, because things you like pre-op, may not work for you post-op. You may prefer cold to hot or even room temp liquids. I'm 2 days post -op and added Skim Milk Plus today mixed with my protein powder. My doc progresses the diet quite slowly.
  2. Congrats! I look forward to that 30 pound mark. You are inspiring.
  3. Thinville! I like that. How are you feeling?
  4. I just took a shower as well and after two days of nearly no calories, the scale did not budge. I'm probably holding onto fluids, since my protein intake was nil for those two days. Don't be surprised.
  5. Post-op day 2 for me. I had a much better night last night. The nausea has subsided, so I was able to take my pain med (I use Tylenol with Codeine), whenever I needed it. Yesterday was long. I still have pretty sharp pain in my left shoulder, between my shoulder blades, near my collar bone and in my mid back. My only abdominal discomfort is the port incision, but it's getting less each day. Yesterday I sort of forced myself to get enough fluids. I just have no appetite or desire to put anything in my mouth. I did, however, have Water, beef broth, diluted grape juice, suagr free Jello and an ice pop. I also got in one clear Protein Drink. Today I can add to all of that, Skim Milk Plus to make a Protein Shake. I feel no restriction, but then again my surgeon does not do any filling at the time of insertion. I will get in the habit of sipping, because I am a gulper, especially with water. My belly is still quite distended, but I AM passing gas....TMI. I can shower today. I'm looking forward to that. I'm walking my hallways when I can, doing my deep breathing (don't want wind up with pneumonia). I am 59 afterall. I also plan on getting plenty of rest again today. I just wanted to keep you up to date, so those that are waiting for surgery will know what to expect. Of course, we're not all the same. Susan
  6. Best wishes to our Thursday Bandsters!
  7. I hope you have a good night.
  8. My prayers are with you for tomorrow.
  9. I'm very new to all of this, but I say, please get in to see your doctor.
  10. Congrats! I was banded just yesterday and know how you feel. Get lots of rest and walk in between.

  12. I do plan on following doctor's orders to the letter as well. I will do nothing to mess with this surgery.
  13. I certainly DO NOT feel the band. The main soreness is at the port site, only because it's the largest incision.
  14. \ I'm missing my English Breakfast tea and my glass of Merlot
  15. I was banded yesterday. My doc did not require a pre-op diet. However, when I met with the nutritionist about 3-4 weeks ago, she gave me a set of guidelines to follow.....no carbonated drinkd, cut out caffeine, cut out sweets and high fat foods, drink 8 cups of Water day and make sure I got at least 50 grams of Protein a day. I did this, as well as using....myfitnesspal and restricting my calories to 1200 daily. I figured if I did these things before the surgery, it would make my life so much easier afterwards. In the process, I lost 11 pounds and have already put the caffeine and such behind me. Hope this helps, Susan
  16. Thank you. All is well.
  17. How are you doing?
  18. Was banded yesterday! Feeling achy but happy to be in this place in my life.
  19. Good morning, all. I'm writing from Bandland this morning. My surgery went perfectly and I'm back among the living today. It was a rough night. I couldn't get comfortable and slept for very short periods, but his morning I feel much better. The banding went very well. I did wake up with some nausea, but that was quickly addressed. I was medicated for pain in the recovery room and did not take anything again until about 11pm. The surgery was just before 10am, lasted for less than an hour and I left the hospital at 3pm. It was a long ride home, about 90 minutes and I was quite exhausted when I got home. I went straight to bed. I'm sitting in a recliner now and I should have done this last night. The discomfort is quite manageable. I have shoulder and back pain from nerve irritation that occurs during laparoscopic surgery. The only part of my belly that hurts is at the port site, where the largest incision is. I'm doing my deep breathing, as we all should after surgery to prevent any lung issues. Important for me, since I have asthma and recently had a nasty upper respiratory virus. I'm sipping on water, diluted grape juice and having sugar-free jello. Today I'll add some clear protein drinks. My surgeon is a strong believer in taking the diet very slowly. He said a lot of healing needs to be done in there. He also says a slow progressing diet can prevent complications. If there is anything I can help any of you with, just give ma shout out. Susan
  20. Off to the hospital. See you in BANDLAND!
  21. It's going to be a great Monday!
  22. If you can only get down 6oz of fluid a day, you need to call your doctor!
  23. Kate, it sounds like you did the right thing having some food. You even made a great choice. Just think, it's clear liquids for both of us tomorrow. I hope I can sleep tonight.
