Feeling pretty good today. Maybe about 65% better!
Visited the doc today. Everything is looking good. I learned that I have the "standard band" placed not a large one. He gave me an RX for my thrush (from antibiotics and dehydration after surgery). I can start FULL liquids on Thursday. This is BIG for me as I have been on a clear liquid and Protein shake diet since January 23rd!! Adding in runny oatmeal for Breakfast and drinkable yogurt will be huge for me!!
I started the pre-op diet on Jan 23 at 236
Today I weighed in at 216
    I know.....wow!
Hope everyone is having a great day?

I know exactly what you mean! As the date creeps closer and closer my nervousness starts to eclipse my excitement of the newer, smaller me, and I'm thinking, "WOW this is happening.". Then I start thinking surgery, pain, etc and I freak out. I can't wait until this part is over with. Lol

Hi everyone!! I am scheduled for Monday, 2/11. Any suggestions on what I should take to the surgery center other than comfy clothes? What brought you comfort?

Was surprisingly easy. Numbed then 2 cc in my 10 cc band. Since surgery day on 12/21/12 went from 262 to 226 today. The PA was surprised. I told her it was simply will power at this point and using my fitness pal app. Wish I could keep up this rate of loss but know it will slow. Still have to start exercising as well.

as some of y'all know I live in New Orleans and right now it's Mardi Gras season for the first time in a long time I really had fun in my tube top with no bra and tight tummy even dancing to the different bands. I finally feel good about my body and even feel a bit sexy  . now I know the scar isn't perfect on the tummy and Im going to have a scar revision after im a year post-op if it doesn't improve.

SeaSounders♥ reacted to Spaness2012 in I have crossed over to band land.....
I was banded yesterday at 10am. Everything went fine and was home by 8pm. I was having trouble getting control of my pain and was quite nauseous most of the day. They got me up to walk right away and that really did seem to help the gas pressure in my chest and back.
Slept on a recliner and got up every few hours to walk and get more Water. I have only been able to get down a total of 3 oz of apple juice and maybe 3 oz of water in the last 12 hours. Hunger is not an issue at this point! It's quite the opposite. I will try and open a Protein Shake today and sip on that for a few. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for all the well wishes! It is still a bit surreal that I finally have the LB. It has always been a destination for me and so to finally have it is very overwhelming!

Great advice already on this thread - the purpose of the band is to restrict your volume and speed on solid, healthy food. Liquids and mush are not the goal of band living. If, after 3+ years of being banded, you are in this place, it is not a good place. But I don't know your history (as you skipped it) and I wouldn't presume to diagnose you Definitely keep us posted, it's helpful to know what others are going through.

I had my band tighten up on me 3 weeks after a fill. Totally fine in the begining and all of a sudden started having trouble getting things down and horrible reflux. Had a tiny bit taken out .2cc i think and all was better. If you have trouble getting liquids down you should go to your dr ASAP. of it's trouble with solids, a couple of days of liquid may make it better. Although I think at least calling your dr now and getting their advice would be best.

I personally think avoiding your doctor is a bit foolish. If you're having problems then your doctor should be your first call not your last resort. By putting off calling him then you are potentially making the problem worse.
Your doctor's job is to treat and help you- let him do his job. Call him.

i think (letting your doctor) know what is going on is the best thing and staying away from the doctor is the worst thing. in my opinion, the dr is the one who can help you..i do hope you get to feeling better

Made these Low-fat version Crab Cakes, and I have to say they are pretty good!
    Ingredients:
1 lb. Crabmeat (I used Louis Kemp) any kind of lump crabmeat will be fine
    2 large eggs (beaten)
    2 scallions (diced)
1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped fine)
    1/4 cup cocktail sauce
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    1/2 red pepper (diced fine)
    1/2 cup Light Mayo
1 lemon, juiced (lemon juice will work just fine)
    1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
    1 tsp. tabasco sauce
3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs (I used whole wheat breadcrumbs instead)
3 tbs. cooking oil (I use canola)
**if you don't have all the ingredients you can substitute**
    Directions:
In medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the panko breadcrumbs and Cooking Oil. When all of the ingredients are combined, gently mix in panko crumbs.
Form crab cake patties using 1/3-cup mixture per patty. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Place Cooking Oil in large, nonstick skillet, and brown patties over medium heat and sauté the patties until they are golden brown on each side. Serve warm.
