  1. Too tight in the morning. My Dr. told me to plan on having one for breakfast from then on.
  2. Well, that was 2 hours or pure hell. I had a headwind coming home, what took me 83 minutes this morning, took me over 100 minutes coming home and I don't think my legs have ever been this tired. 21.75 Miles, 1:42 minutes, 1100 calories.
  3. You do have to do it, you do have to want it, but you are absolutely correct, it isn't easy. WLS may not be the easy way out, but for me it is the only way out. History says I can't do it any other way. Keep the faith, and give it time, you will get to where you want to be.
  4. Worrying doesn't help, prayer yes, worry no. Until we get more information, then we just need to wait. She was good friends with several people on the boards, and I am sure that someone will eventually fill us in.
  5. Guys, take a deep breath, she could just have decided to take a break from he forum. Sometimes, some of the posts are a bit much to handle, and you need to get back to reality.
  6. I have a better question for you. What if you don't do anything? Where will you be then?
  7. Well, the bad news is Spin Class is on hold for me for at least a couple of weeks. The good news is that because Congress couldn't pull their heads out of their asses long enough to deal with the sequestration like adults, my wife has had to re-arrange her working schedule and with our girls out of school for the summer, I get to bike to work 3 times a week. So this mornings jaunt: 21.72 Miles, 1:23 Minutes and 1078 Calories.
  8. Lower death rate. Lower major complication rate. Reversible. Sure, the weight loss is slower, but I have been fat a long time, IMHO I can be fat a little while longer and not mutilate my stomach or re-route my intestines.
  9. I would disagree, even though may feel you can eat anything, you are still healing on the inside where the band is stitched, too much pressure can cause damage.
  10. I have failed at every diet and diet drug that has been on the market. When I looked at WLS, the question wasn't what if I failed, but what if I succeeded. But regardless if I failed or succeeded, if I did nothing but what I had done before than I would continue to gain weight and and end up in a wheel chair and an early grave. WLS wasn't my first choice, and I only came to it after I had given up all hope of ever being normal.
  11. This is actually very typical forum behavior, if there is nothing "wrong" there is nothing to say. The majority of posts come from people who are going through the decision process of getting WLS and those that have just had it, where every burp, rumble and pain scares the hell out of them. As for all the "serious/irreversible complications", you are looking at a skewed sample, for example you were banded 8-12, when was the last time you came on the forum and announced that your band was working just fine, no problems at all? My surgeon had done 900+ LBs before he did mine, and he had a serious complication rate of less than 5%. If they were on a forum, you can bet the 5% would be much more vocal than those who are doing just fine.
  12. Glad to see you are OK. RIght now, I am going for shorter rides (around 20 miles), I would really like to get an hour in the saddle 5 - 6 times a week, but life gets in the way.
  13. You won't be disappointed.
  14. Absolutely, I spin twice a week, and you bet I am counting that time!
  15. I have always said, you only fail when you stop fighting. Welcome back to the battle!
  16. You keep walking that lab, and using your band and you will get there sooner than you think.
  17. The only person you need to compete against is yourself And your bike would totally destroy me on a mountain trail! One of these days, I'm going to get a good mountain bike, but not until my wife forgets how much my road bike cost
  18. I just got back off of vacation and on to my bike for the first time in a week. Felt soooo good! I would invite you to log your miles for the month of June on this thread. This is not competition, but my personal goal is to do 10 more miles than what ever Catfish does which is going to be hard since he is a skinny little guy and doesn't have as much fat to lug around. Starting it off with today's ride 20.09 Miles, 1:15 minutes, 953 Calories. Ok, Who is next?
  19. Don't sweat it, many Dr.'s and surgeons in particular have really off beat sense of humors.
  20. I believe it, Yoga actually does move the internal organs around quite a bit. When I was much younger, I did quite a bit of Yoga and remember without fail that half way through a routine I would have to stop and head for the bathroom.
  21. Spent a week here http://www.nps.gov/meve/index.htm. Truly an amazing place and one that I would recommend to anyone visiting this part of our nation. I gave up logging after the first day, tried to make good choices and stay active, but found this little Mexican restaurant and the food was amazing, including something new to me that the owner called "Mexican Coleslaw", I am going to have to work on re-creating his version of it. Got on the scale for the first time in a week and the verdict is, up 5 pounds. Not a big deal, since I know I didn't eat 21K extra calories, I know that the weight is water and will soon go away now that I am back on my regular eating schedule. A couple of NSV's: 1. Despite the altitude (7-8K), I never ran out of breath on our hikes. 2. One tour through a cliff dwelling required that we crawl out a tunnel with an 18" opening and I doubt that I would have fit 6 months ago.
  22. Shelley, as a long time Baptist, I have often observed that the only "Sin" we aren't against is the sin of gluttony.
  23. As your body detoxes and gets used to your new eating plan, you will go through a range of physical and emotional states, it is all very normal. Once you are banded and your body is healing from the surgery it will probably be a bit more intense. But the roller coaster will smooth out fairly quickly, so just hang on and enjoy the ride BTW, congratulations on not cheating, too many people treat their Dr's nutritional guidelines as suggestions.
