  1. my gallbladder attack was in my back and chest, felt like a heart attack.. but pain can be caused by stress as well... If it persist I would call my Dr.
  2. yeah I used to eat at night after my husband went to bed.. it's hard to break that habit.. I started taking a hot bath, drinking lots of water and hot tea does help... the days before your first fill are difficult cause you don't have restriction ..depending on your Dr.'s orders you might see if you can drink a protein shake instead of eating something crappy..
  3. the emotional problem is partly due to anesthesia... the other issue is we wake up and think oh my God what did I do? but all of this will pass and when you start feeling stronger and healthier that will make you feel much better.. focus on healing for now.. don't watch the scale and think of all the great things you will be able to do when you get thinner and healthier..
  4. fantastic.. Hot and Healthy that's what I like... My "Hot" days are gone but I got some healthy ones since being banded...Enjoy your Friday...
  5. wow I think you are doing amazing.. inches or lbs either way that's a good loss ... you will want to be prepared for it to slow.. after awhile it will be 1-2 lbs a week .. but you can track your inches too...
  6. I remember that phase.. my family celebrated a birthday and went to a local steak house.. I ate mashed potatoes and applesauce.. but I was okay with it.. they were all worried about eating their steaks in front of me.. I told them not to worry I was going to be able to eat steak again and I will be healthier by the next birthday.. (mine) lol
  7. I have used recipes from emilybites.com they are really good and pretty much turnout the way she describes.. she has some yummy enchilada's and chicken recipes... plus a whole lot of desserts..most of her stuff can be found on myfitnesspal if you are tracking your calories...
  8. I have been on this site since I decided to get banded.. so quite awhile.. I have found very few people who were rude.. I think some of the veteran bandsters answer honestly.. If you need to be babied or coddled perhaps you can find a different site.. I have not found any that were as helpful as this one.. Missy is honest and forthright and always advises people to call their Dr's.. she usually states that she is not a Dr. but as far as successful she is by far one of the most successful.. CG is also very successful and she is honest as well...I also think some of the younger generation have been atta boy'd too much and think the world centers around them. As I told my Grandchildren, the real world will be quite different.. Nobody is giving out gold stars because you finish your homework....
  9. One of the first questions I asked was whether I could drink coffee.. cause really at my age there's not a whole lot of things I can do.. I don't smoke, I dont drink, and my wild and sexy days have long past but giving up coffee is a deal breaker.. he said you can absolutley drink coffee as long as you don't drink too much and if it doesn't cause reflux... so depends on the Dr. I suppose.. I suppose if I really had to give it up I would to benefit from my band but glad so far I haven't had to...

I think all of us have that fear.. I saw a lady today @ Walmart with huge legs and she was barely able to walk to the electric cart.. she looked to be younger than me but Lord help her she was so sad looking.. I know I was headed for the electric cart myself ..could hardly make it through the store without leaning on the grocery cart... I thank God everyday that I decided to take charge of my health and got my band before it was too late... it's moments like these that make you say there by the Grace of God go I...
  11. Yes by all means let your Dr. know.. I am amazed that anyone could eat pizza or wings at that stage.. I was barely eating yogurt and refried beans.. lol... but as Missy said make sure you didn't do any damage then move on... use your band and follow the rules you will be happy you did...
  12. I have not been sick .. I was banded inJanuary and try to concentrate on eating slowly and taking small bites.. I have gotten slightly stuck in chicken before but learned to make sure it was moist.. otherwise I have been very happy with my band...
  13. Explore all of your options.. also discuss with your primary care physician.. Mine recommended the band for me.. I have been very happy with it.. but there are some who have had complications with theirs.. All surgeries have risks.. I have folks in my support group who have had sleeves and by passes.. They all have problems with dumping and they don't feel or look healthy.. and yes they have to take tons of vitamins.. I take Vit D, B12 and a multivitamin.. that's it.. I am off of all of my prescriptions .. no more diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol.. wish I had done this years ago.. but at 66 years old I feel like a new person... go to some support meetings and talk to patients who have had both surgeries..Good Luck on your decision....
  14. Chris no one in America is denied medical care.. We have thousands upon thousands of clinics and if someone goes to an ER they cannot be denied medical care.. Canada does not have illegals flowing through their borders everyday.. They do not have to pay for their care like we do. I know you pay high taxes for the so called "free" healthcare.. I personally do not want to wait in line and wait a year for a surgery or any other of the socialized medical practices.. I like my personal physician and have always had a choice.. Most Dr's here are going to stop seeing Medicare Patients because of Obamacare.. Some have already closed their practices.. so what is good for Canada is not so great for America....
  15. Missy is right.. I am not getting Medicare for free. I paid for it for years and am now paying a monthly premium plus I have to have Medicare D that I pay for and my supplement has increased already and will go up again .. people who are on fixed incomes will not be able to afford a supplement so do they have to go on Obamacare? so far no one has an answer to that question...As for some of the so called benefits.. I think we were sold a bill of goods.. then when we didn't like it they shoved it down our throats.. I also am self employed and will not be able to deduct my health care premiums.. it's really not about healthcare it's about control... Socialized medicine is not what I want....
  16. Definately would . I am so much healthier and active... looking forward to getting to my goal...
  17. If Obamacare is run like other Govt. agencies we are all in big trouble... we will not be able to chose our own Dr's and yes there are bureaucrats deciding who lives and who dies.. limiting services for elderly patients is a death panel... As time goes on there will be more and more restrictions.. Good Bye America as we know it...I am scared for my children and their children...
  18. You can be assured that weight loss surgery will be one of the first things to go... My husband who is 80 cannot get treatment for his cancer should it reoccur.. the cut off age is 76... so yes there are death panels and this is supposed to be good for our Country?
  19. I decided on the band because I did not want my stomach removed or rearranged... I have several sleeve folks in my support group.. They are constantly complaining about dumping and nausea.. not sure why but their skin looks bad.. kinda grey looking maybe it's the lack of vitamin B.. They say they take tons of vitamins..however, I think your decision should be based on your personal situation not any other persons experience... Good Luck on your decision.. The Band has saved my life.. I no longer require medication for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol. I can walk for miles and keep up with my very active grandchildren... yes there is some maintenance but it's not constant.. I have had 2 fills (small) and am now going to the Dr. every 3 months...
  20. I flew to Denver about 4 hours.. didn't know about any restriction on eating or drinking.. didn't seem to affect my band at all... even flying from sea level to mile high...but if you are concerned call your Doc...
  21. go to Emilybites.com she has tons of meatloaf and mini meatloaf recipes plus some really good mexican and chicken... she converts them to weight watcher friendly....
  22. I am so sorry for your loss of Chester... We all have animals who become part of our families.. They are always a part of us even after they pass.. You will see him again in heaven I am sure..
  23. emilybites.com converts recipes to weight watchers friendly.. low cal..
