My surgery is May 13!!!!!
Today was the second day of my pre-op liquid diet (my doc only requires 5 day pre-op diet.
The wife and kids had KFC. I drank chicken broth. LOL

Congratulations! My surgery was Monday. I had to do a 5 day liquid diet preop and lost 10 pounds during that process. Don't dwell on the past, focus on your goals and things will go just fine. Good luck on Thursday!

Choosing to go to the Weight loss Institute of Arizona was the best decision I EVER made. It totally changed my life.
The doctors, Dr. Michael Orris and Dr. John DeBarros are absolutely wonderful. They are very sympathetic and understanding but also direct at the same time. They are with you and there for you throughout the entire process.
When I first went in I was at my lowest point and they were very encouraging and helped me feel hopeful even when I didn’t think I could do it.
Making the decision to have the surgery was not easy and it was very scary but everyone there was very supportive.
It has been a long journey and at times I didn’t think I would ever get there but they never had any doubt in me.
I know that there are a lot of people out there that believe that by choosing to have Lap Band surgery that I took the easy way out but let me tell you it is not an easy to admit that you have a problem and it is not an easy fix but having the support of all the staff the Weight Loss Institute of Arizona makes it a lot easier.
Now 102 lbs later my life has done a complete 180. I am happy, confident and doing things that I never thought I would be or could be doing.
It is absolutely the BEST decision I have ever made for myself.

The first six days have been a struggle but woke up this morn and feel so good. I am so surprised at how much better I feel. Ready to lose all the excess I've been carrying around for years!

Believe me, being overweight for the rest of your life is more scarier than the lapband. I've been banded three years and have lost 85 lbs. I was very nervous too. But my daughter was with me every step of the way and encouraged me. Even as they wheeled me into the OR, I still had reservations. But now I look back and know it was the real beginning of the rest of my life. I love everything about life now .

Well I got home from work today and the wife and kids had KFC, which smells delicious, but I'm being a good boy and munching on sugar free Popsicles and having chicken broth. LOL

Well weight loss comrades, I officially started my pre-op liquid diet today. My surgery is on Monday. I've attached a copy of my delicious Breakfast I had this morning!
The in-laws are coming today. They are flying in from overseas to help my wife and I with the kids during my recovery.

Those are all normal feelings. The lapband surgery has been around for years now and is minimally invasive. You will be just fine!
I've had five surgeries during my life and have had no complications with the anesthesia during any of them.
You're doing the right thing---it will be done and over with before you know it! Hang in there!

I'm set for May 21st and my Pre-Op starts on May 7th!!

Hi, my name is John. I am 35 years old, 6ft and 270lbs, diabetes type 2, on blood pressure and cholesterol meds. I started off at 335lbs about 2 1/2 years ago.
I am scheduled for lap band surgery on March 20th and am on day 2 of the pre-op diet. They say 4-5 Meal Replacement shakes a day and if I have to "cheat" to chew, have 4-6oz of lean beef, chicken, or beef.
I have to say this is going to be challenging for me. I am one of those people that didn't gain the excess weight by eating sweets, I love food.
My wife had the surgery a year ago and has lost just over 70lbs. I am so proud of her and am happy to have someone right here with me to coach.
What have been your experiences, when did the anxiety of "what the hell am I about to do" subside?

Do you think you may have made some poor choices along the way, which may have contributed to your 65 lb gain?

Keep calm and be blessed now is the time to think about how happy you will be in the future. No more this and that no more feeling sad think happy thought sing your favorite kid song when you where a kid! Think positive listen and watch things that will make u feel good about your self. Do yoga! :-) hope this helps!

I'm having surgery tomorrow too. I'm excited now and the nerves haven't kicked in yet. I'm sure I won't be able to sleep tonight and I'll be a mess tomorrow. I noticed your ticker said you've been on here for more than 50 days. That means you've done your research and considered all other possibilities. That means you are ready for this. I haven't been banded yet so I don't know what your going through. I think the best thing though is to talk with your Dr., Which I know you said you were, so that's good. I'm sorry your having this problem and I hope everything comes out OK. Good luck

Banding is actually the safest of all the weight loss surgeries. It's minimally invasive and they just place a silicone band with a port in you.
Don't be scared! What you should be scared if us being overweight and what it causes---severe joint pain, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, etc.
Being nervous and anxious is normal, but don't make the mistake if talking yourself out if a surgery that may very well save your life!

I dropped Cigs cold turkey when I had my gallbladder removed prior to Being Banded. It was rough but I'm 6 month without a drag. It makes me nauseated to smell smoke. I lost a step parent to lung cancer so I am glad I broke the cycle in my life.

You do write the best sayings. Do you write them down for your book so Oprah can have it as the book of the month ?

I must say that I am only one month banded, and sometimes I have to step away from this forum cause it adds to my fear of complications..... But you are one of my favorite posters/blogger! Always positive and it keeps me being afraid some days! Thank you for your posts and positive attitude!
