Dear Hormones, I Want A Divorce. Sincerely, Lyra

oh boy-You ladies are not the only ones! I am buzzing out in hormone land too. The surgery and menopause are NOT a great combination! :-) I become a crazy hormonal b-word at the drop of a hat, or word, or look, or having to get out of bed, or..... and then it is ON from there. My husband's advice? Just make sure you are worth more alive than dead and all will be well. My advice..find a good naturepath. They can help wonderfully where hormones are concerned. And above all, HANG IN THERE! You are not alone and I do believe that this, too, will pass :-)

    How long do stalls last?

Each body is different. i am 9 months out and have not lost a lb in 3 months-actually, I started exercising and gained! As my doc explained it to me...each of us is different in the make up of our skeletal muscles and how much sugar and fat they store. Also, each of has different genetic components too. It is not so much about the scale as it is the inches! If you are still losing inches, you are doing well. If you are working out and replacing the fat with firm muscle, you are doing well (you will gain a few inches in the big muscle groups). If you are truly STUCK all the way around you need to up your protein, check your vitamin status and water, water, water, water. The other thing was move, move, move!!! So have some patience with yourself and analyze where you are at in your patterns and enjoy that initial huge loss too!

    Hi there, emotional basketcase here.....

hang in there. This is very normal and you will go through several bouts of this over the course of your weight loss. Love yourself and be kind to yourself through each phase. Sleep does help and you do need sleep. That may be part of your problem now-you are reacting to the surgery and need to sleep.
  6. Hang in there. It takes time for the body to adjust. I had that, too, and had to really shake myself up some. Trying reading the book Eat It Up to help you work through the no-no issues and remember, vitamins, vitamins, protein, protein, water, water and more protein!
  7. I just had my 9 month post op check up......I went in at 204lbs with diabetes, sleep apnea, high lipids, you name it. At 9 months I am 163lb and in a size 8 Levi...from a 20 to an 8! I NEVER in my life thought that it would be possible! I have 30 lbs left till my 'cinderella' goal weight of 130. I am 5 foot 5 inches and not a very big frame. At this point, the sleeve not only saved my life but has been absolutely the BEST thing I ever did for myself-for health and for peace. Sleep apnea-gone, high lipid-gone. Blood sugars WAY down! For those of you thinking about this....,how badly do you want to be healthy for once and for all? It IS work, but you are worth the work and the effort. Exercise is fun (gasp with horror) because you can MOVE without killing yourself from the Flubber effect! Imagine that! Movement without jello! You CAN do this, it IS worth the effort and everything else that goes with it. Be brave and love yourself!!
  8. WOW! Never thought of that one. I know that when I ended up in hospital for an overnight stay for some tests, they didn't know what to "do" with me as far as eating went and it was NOT a pleasant experience. Even with me being quite capable of telling them what I needed, they either did not believe me or did not have anything I needed. That was one long night, let me tell you. I went through all of my emergency stash in my purse and had to send my hubbie home to restock me.

Stressed about all the wrong things...

I think we all worry about it-but it is the doing that ends the worrying. You are doing so enjoy the ride. It is reinvent yourself time :-) !

    Anyone disappointed?

I am very happy at 6 months and looking forward to moving along toward goal in the next 6 months. It is work-hard work, and it has taken me time to find my groove, but I am finding and falling in line. Don't ever want to go back to "before"
