Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?
No regrets. Dealing with the hunger when only being allowed 600 calories a day is very difficult though. That's the only bad thing for me. I'm always hungry and feel that I am constantly struggling on a strict diet (which I am).

Looking for someone 5' feet 208 lbs.?
I'm 5'2" and weighed 206 when I had my surgery on 1/9/13. I'm 159 today. I have a good bit to go!

HERE IT GOES...
My surgeon has allowed straws since the beginning. They do not stretch your stomach nor do carbonated drinks. If you have excess air in there, you burp.

The beloved "Food Funeral".
Hehe....I really wish the sleeve slapped that **** out of my hand! I was not so strong pre-op. I wouldn't say I had a food "funeral", but I certainly binged (but I always did, so it wasn't anything too different from my norm!) I can certainly eat anything I want and have been able to since very early post-op, so I'm not missing anything. But at the same time I certainly don't regret pigging out before surgery. In fact I'm kind of glad I did, strangely! But I admire your determination. Good luck.

Vision has declined since surgery. Anyone else?
This is so odd and the only thing I think could be causing it is my VSG surgery, even though it doesn't make sense! I had my VSG on January 9. Right before that I had my annual eye exam and my eyes had not changed in a couple years. Same prescription. I went back to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago and suddenly my eyesight in my right eye has gone from a -5.50 to a -6.50 (yes I'm blind as a bat!) All since my surgery! my left eye got a little worse too but not as much as my right eye. So now, two weeks later, I am noticing my vision is not as clear in my right eye which means it has gotten worse within two weeks! I have another appointment for Wednesday. Has anyone had this happen or heard of it?

Is it realistic to not tell anyone I'm having surgery?
I've pretty much told everyone. The only slightly negative comments I have received were pre-op from my parents, and it was just out of concern for my well-being as this is a pretty serious surgery. I don't think it is something to hide. You may even motivate someone else who is struggling with their weight to start researching the same route you took. I don't get the "easy way out" comments at all. Most people are just curious and comment that it takes a lot of courage to do something like this. But if I had chosen to not tell anyone, I could of. I am not losing weight so fast that it is suspicious of surgery or anything. I think I'm losing at a pretty "normal person" pace.

No regrets. I didn't think I'd be one of those people who are always like "I wish I did it sooner!" But it's true....I wish I did it sooner! Lol

Any Vanderbilt Sleevers?
I'm doing great! I will be 12 weeks tomorrow. I have lost 40 pounds so far and I work out an hour on the arc trainer about 4-5 days a week. I can eat anything, just small quantities.

Wendys jr cb 3 wks out
I'm 12 weeks post op, and for the first time had this very same burger over the weekend. I was able to eat most of it, but at 3 weeks I could not of eaten it. I remember at your stage feeling hungry very often too. Try to stick to your surgeons eating plan and you'll be fine.

Massive appetite little restriction
Well, I just want to wish you luck and I hope this all starts working out better for you soon. Personally I think the whole "long stomach" (tall people) thing is a real issue. I've heard of other tall people with this same issue quite a few times. Good luck!

Does any one drink any soda
I drink diet coke and diet sprite almost daily. I drink it over ice and have no issues at all. I didn't do this surgery to become a complete health nut....I did it to help control my binge eating. And it's doing exactly that.

How much will I really lose?
My surgeon considers your surgery a success if at 6 months post op you have lost 55-60% of our excess weight. As for a total, I think he considers 80% of excess weight loss to be done by his patients.

What's with rating personal profiles?
Aside from the star rating, what in the world is the little green box to the right in the profiles that has a number and says things like "Good" and "Excellent". Where does that come from?

Binge Eating Food Funeral
Oh dear, you have a little while to go before surgery time. I was lucky and had my consult and had surgery within the month. I had a severe food funeral going on!! I gained 6 pounds in just that one month. So I definitely understand where you are coming from. My only advice is to try to remember that the weight you gain now before surgery, will just put you even further behind once you are sleeved. If you can, start exercising and get on a better eating plan even if it isn't a super strict diet. I know you may feel like you will never eat these foods again and want to eat them while you can, but that isn't the case. I am only 11 weeks post op and I can eat everything that I was able to eat before surgery, just not as much. You can do this!
