I am 10 days post op and I did 10 minutes on the elipticle and some very light weights. Even though it was a very light work out, it felt good.

Gas-X is a pill in the US that helps relieve gas pains. Essentially it is simethicone, which you could probably find in another form. Tired is to be expected. I am impressed you can make through a day as a high school teacher! Be kind to yourself at home and ask your family to help out so you don't have too much to do once you are home. It takes a while to recover from any surgery.

hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. I am 40yrs young, married, have a precious 5yr young son, am a nurse, but my main occupation is my son.
i had looked into the lapband about a yr and a half ago, back then my insurance absolutely didn't covered the procedure. i hadn't looked into this even though we had changed insurances. nice surprise when i looked and found out that this new insurance would cover!!! yeah, my journey began August 2012. Dr. Carcamo and his staff at true results in san antonio helped me all the way into Oct 19,2012, my surgery day. i started at 226lbs, with the pre op and now liquid diet i am now 198lbs. first time in YEARS since i've been out of the 200's.
for now i wouuld like to encourage everyone to keep following your doctor's advice because only patience, time, and hard work will get us through this journey.
    Oct 2012 bandsters ROCK!!!!!

but like you hear alot of us it is minimal and very manageable. big big recomendation...walk walk walk to aide with the gas in the belly and/or shoulders.
you will do great and we will hear (read) about your experience soon!
    good luck!!!!

I was told to take mine off but then I told them I had my lovely monthly friend and they told me to leave them on and gave me one of those oh so wonderful thick diaper-like pads to put on. Lol. I think that was the worst part of it. That and I woke up with Iodine all the way down to my girl parts, I bet they laughed at my diaper. LOL. My panties were hot pink silk boy shorts with lace trim though! Haha. The best part of my stay was that I had a very flamboyant male nurse and he was just hilarious, he definitely helped to calm me down pre op. This guy has TWELVE Christmas trees! TWELVE!

Hello all. I just got banded today and they are keeping me overnight. The surgey went well and I'm not in pain from the band BUT the gas pains are incredibly painful. Any suggestions bc this pain is unbearable, also the repaired a hernia. Congrats to all October bandsters.

I was going to start on prenatal Vitamins again if they didn't start growing soon but it seems that they're doing great with what I'm taking. I plan on getting a mani pedi this weekend so I'll try that as well! Thanks! =) It's funny how little things like this can make me so exciting! I feel so much more feminine with decent nails!

my understanding is that our stomach's and our bands are on the left and our ports are slightly to the right of out belly buttons,,i wouldnt stress too much tho, cuz until all the swelling goes down properly things will be pushed to the surface ,, and things that should be hard will be,, i freaked out a week post op cuz the whole right side of my belly was sort hard to touch and i freaked out thinking i had internal bruising or something,, but nope jumped on here and was told that its normal,, its just the swelling and your body adjusting,,

    Hi All !
I was banded Oct 23, 2012. Was in the surgery center 23 hours, insurance said so HA. Was down 35 pds before the banding, 20 of those from the 2 week diet of shakes, broth and Jello. I was totally shocked that morning when I stepped on the scale and saw I had lost 20 pds in 2 weeks.
I had some pain the first couple days. But the pain meds every 6 hours helped. Now just taking pain meds before bed. I am a tummy sleeper, still can't do that, but getting closer.
The Protein shakes from Bariatric Advantage are a life saver, they are awesome. I add some extracts, sf pudding to them to mix up the flavors. And the Protein Soups, chicken noodle and pea Soup from Protdiet, are pretty good too.
My stomach does 'gurgle' a lot. It isn't uncomfortable at all, just gurgles. I hope this will pass. I have never had any hunger. However, I just want to guzzle down a bottle of Water or a glass of tea. I'm so thirsty. I drink every 1/2 hr as instructed by Doc. But still thirsty.
So glad to have found this site, and FINALLY learned how to post HAHA.
I live with my boyfriend, and he really tried to understand, but he can't.
So I am here to stay with some awesome people to DO UNDERSTAND it all.
THANKS EVERYONE AND HAPPY BANDING !!

Feeling a little better tonight! Getting all my liquids in and hoping to start Protein Shakes tomorrow. I'm so grateful for the encouragement here, I freaked out earlier wondering why I'd done this....

so this week i had a client dinner and a night out with friends who don't know i'm banded. I'm 2 weeks post-op and was fine eating Soup at the restaurants, but what i found funny was how much i noticed the amount of food everyone else was eating! I have told everyone i'm on a diet trying to really control portion size and they didnt give it a second thought. It was great. And I've lost weight (although i haven't weighed myself so dont know exact amount) so I fit back into my smaller size jeans which made the whole difference going out!

I am now 9 days post op (dos: 10/18/12) and 9 pounds lost! I had to do a double take this morning when I got on the scale! The pain is manageable, and my body definitely tells me when I have done too much! I feel asleep outside on the hammock yesterday for 3 hours! Still trying to get my fluids in as best I can. I do get hungry and try to drink hot tea or broth, as that helps me feel full.
I go back to work Monday (full moon and a Monday in the medical field..oh boy!) So I have my little emergency kit in my purse: goody's powder, gasX strips, packages of boullion and tea! (bringing the liquid Lortab, just in case!) LOL!
Hoping everyone is doing well and feeling better and recovering worry-free!

Yes if you don't follow up with after care (fills) and some sort of accountability check you will not see results. If I were you I'd find a place near you that can administer a fill and monitor your progression. Using an app like My Fitness Pal (www.myfitnesspal.com) will give you a method of food tracking to help you stay the course. Good luck to you!

Hi, I had My band done yesterday! Pain is not too bad. At first it was horrible!! In the hospital when I first woke up. My throat hurts because they had to put a tube down my throat. They also fixed a hernia. I am hoping tomorrow I can go for A short walk. Not hungry. Had 2 Protein Shakes so far. Water and sf popsicles. Excited to start losing this weight!!!
