  3. I am keeping my a secret as well. I've only told my family and my boss. I'm not planning on telling any of my friends because I feel their opinions would be negative and I just don't want to hear it. As to why I told my boss, I feel like I had to, to justify all the time I'll be taking off for appointments. I think it's fine to keep it to yourself. You're doing it for yourself and no one else
  4. Would you mind sharing the recipe?
  5. Congratulations!!!!
  6. Congratulations!!! That is so exciting!
  7. Great. Thank you. Just trying to get as much info as I can. And good luck
  8. Hello all. I recently attended my seminar and I have my first consultation on 10/30/12. I started trying to get my medical records from doctors and so far have only gotten my records from my previous carrier, Kaiser. After looking over everything they sent me, I think I have a problem….my BMI fell below 40 about two years ago…at the time I was losing weight for my wedding. Now I’m afraid my current insurance carrier, Aetna, won’t approve me because I haven’t been over 40 BMI consistently. I do have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but I’ve never been put on medication for either. Has anyone else had the same or similar circumstances and still been approved for WLS?
  9. Guess I should mention that my car takes Premium...double ouch

  11. I have Aetna as well. Did you have to do the 6 month diet?
  12. You know, I’ve gotten some pretty rude things over my lifetime. Everything from, “You have such a pretty face,” to, “To have sex with her, you’d have to roll her in flour and go for the wet spot.” (Personal “fav” of mine, told to me when I was 10 by my sister’s then boyfriend). But I must say the most hurtful thing I have been getting lately is by my in-laws. On several occasions, different in-laws have made comments to me about how they have recently lost weight and how they did it. These comments are made completely out of the blue and with no provocation. I don’t ask for their advice and don’t want it. For some reason, just because I’m fat, they think I need their advice. I just want to say to them, “Listen here bozo, I’ve been fat nearly all my life…if anyone knows how to lose weight, it’s me! Come back and tell me how your weight loss is going in six months when you’ve gained it all back!” Grr…really makes me mad.
  13. Does biotin really help the quality of the hair?
  14. Good luck and congratulations!
  15. Reading your post was like reading my own story. Thank you for sharing/venting and just know that you are not alone! A lot of us feel the same way. I am just beginning my journey; my first consultation is on 10/30/12. I know that the lap band won't make me eat better, but it will be a tool to help me eat less, and give me the drive and determination to make the right choices when it comes to food and to exercise. Good luck to you
  16. I've always heard that Whey is the best to use. As to brands, not sure about that.
  17. Congrats! I have the same question as you. My consultation is on the 29th.

  19. LOL, I told my husband yesterday that I can't wait to go shopping in my closet!
  20. I haven't been banded yet, but I did quit smoking just about 5 weeks ago. I tried everything over the past 15 years to quit and nothing lasted more than a few weeks. This time I tried the Blu electronic cigarette and it worked for me! It's been 39 days since I had a real cigarette and 14 days since I used the electronic one. Oh and they sell the Blu cigarette at Walgreens in a starter pack for $50. Just a suggestion
