Several people mentioned hair loss. What causes this... I am new to all this and trying to get all the info I can...

It can be brought on by the anesthesia from going under during surgery. The other reason can be the lack of nutrition from being on the liquid diet before and after surgery (depending on your docs instructions). Hope this helps

Be sure you get all of the protein you are supposed to. You might want to start taking biotin as well. See what your doctor says about it.

Hair loss, google telogen effluvium, can be brought on by stress, weight loss itself, thyroid disorders, anemia, malnutrition, anesthesia, and other stuff. It is less likely with lap band because the weight loss is slower but it certainly does happen. Make sure you get all your protein in that helps. Biotin helps with hair quality but won't prevent loss. ( dermatology Physican assistant here )

No. It typically resolves in 3-6 months. As long as the problem that caused it has resolved.

Yes, it can strengthen it as well as the nails.
