Hey Girl, Awesome job on the 70 lbs..lovely what post op can do huh?

I'm giving up daily protein shakes!
The only time I drank protein shakes was after a fill when I was to be on liquids for 3 days..other then that they were just a waste of liquid calories that the band did not restrict. I got plenty of solid protein in daily.

I can get some fluid taken out...FINALLY!
Tammy I am concerned for you too.. talk with your Dr. make sure your band has not slipped PBing that often can often and being that tight can result in a slip and a symptom of a slip is frequent vomiting, make sure your PBs are not from a slip. Not being able to keep anything down is a symptom of a possible slip Please keep us posted. Protein is so important even though you have had great weight loss, you may have lost alot of your lean muscle mass which is not good, this is why protein is so important, you will lose fat and not lean muscle mass. Drink your protein if you have too but get it in.

Do you have a New Years resolution?????
Mine is to be a better person and to not gain any of this 106 lbs I lost now that I no longer have my band.

Please post about your complications
It was related weight loss. After losing so much weight my intestines had more room to wrap around my scar tissue and adhesions I had from my 3 c- sections. Had I not had my band I would of not lost all this weight so to me it seems the answer would be Yes, my Dr. says no

Port complications may lead to Erosion
Interesting, I had neither of the above mentioned and I had erosion. My restriction was better then it had ever been the last month prior to me finding out I was eroded. I had a 10lb loss in October 18 months post op. Found out my band was eroded in November. Dr. Ortiz thinks my erosion was caused from a stitch that he was concerned about back in April when he preformed surgery for my bowel obstruction he actually saved both my endo results from April & Nov and will present them at the conference he is attending in Feb.

is overfilled bad?
Here is an excerpt from the Inamed handbook that is valuable to your situation With the Lap Band system in place, you should be able to eat only small ammount so the food you eat should be as healthy as possible. Do not fill your stomach pouch with :junk: food that lacks Vitamins and other important nutrients. Your meals should be high in Protein and vitamins and low in carbs. solid food is more important then liquid food or soft food. The lap Band system will have little or no effect if you only eat liquid or soft food. It passes through the stomach outlet very quickly and does not make you feel full. Here is another excerpt form the book If the adjustment (fill) results in too tight of a stomach opening you could have a hard time eating most foods, sometimes this causes people to avoid solid foods. They may drink liquid meals or soft food meals and this may result in weight gain. A band that is too tight may cause reflux symptoms and can also cause frequent vomiting and possible slippage I hope this helps

I survived band removal surgery...
Lisa..I'm happy to hear you are home resting, I can so relate to the relief of having the band out of you once you know it is eroded. I felt the same way. Thanks for the phone calls , you know I'm here for you anytime. Call me day or night, we can fight this demon together. Much love for you P.S. You definately were not your usual spunky self when you called Wednesday night..I can attest to you being not much for words..could of been al lthe good drugs they gave you though

Restriction & Erosion??????
The band was not designed to only drink liquids. If you can not eat solids then you are too tight! Get a small unfill. I know being too tight can lead to slippage. Erosion I do not know if there is any relation..but not worth the risk at any rate. Having as little as .2 cc's removed can make a huge difference in being able to eat solids but still lose weight. This is not a race..it is a journey

Leatha_G Update
Leatha I had great restriction and had erosion. I lost 11 lbs in October, found out my band was eroded in November. My restriction was better then it ever was in September and OCtober. Have an endo for your own peace of mind, it is worth the money I'm glad you are being the responsible bandster, having your band unfilled is wise. Glad you went to your Dr. and aretaking care of things.

my symptoms
Ive never heard of heartburn being a symptom of erosion..slippage maybe. Try not to worry yourself sick until you see the doctor. Over the counter prilosec works great for me then any other otc meds for heartburn.

Do you have more gas since band?
I had way more gas with my band. I was told once you are banded the band works as a one way valve which is why more gas. Plus since we have to eat so much slower and have to chew our food to mush we take in more air. Atleast I did.
