my surgery was fri oct5.....ive been ok...a little gassy....very sore, but otherwise ok....until today.... everytime i try to drink something,i feel sick....had water and vomited that....tried diet v8 splash, had a few sips, immediately got sick.... tonight,i was able to hold down half a cup of chicken broth....felt sick after, but didnt vomit.. my question is....is this normal?? or should i call my doctor???
  4. yea my instructions say no sudden movements, but if you have to cough, isnt that a sudden movement? i do feel better after i cough, but im so afraid im gonna loosen something or pop a stitch too. also,my parents came over today, and i had my mom take off the first 2 bandage layers(doc said today)....but i was afraid to take off the bandage covering my port...so thats still on. its right underneath my breastbone, and i feel like my bra is gonna irritate it....any advice, anyone??
  5. congrats!!! i cant wait for that moment!!
  6. my surgeon wanted me to lose between 10 and 15lbs on pre op diet....i lost 15lbs...and yes i cheated 2 times....both times,i made sure it was something with high protein...i had eggs one time(which some surgeons say are ok to have on pre op)....the 2nd time was 2 days before surgery and it was a turkey sandwich, because i figured id never be able to have it again....but let me just say, before i get attacked....i lost the required weight first, then when i did eat something,it was a tiny portion of what id usually have.
  7. yea,i lost 15lbs pre op also.....woke up this morn with bad gas...i originally thought my stiff neck was from sleeping on the recliner, now i think it might be gas...took a really hot shower this morn, and that helped a lot!! bandingmi: i have a lot of mucus also....ive been coughing it up,but im so afraid im gonna damage or loosen something!!
  8. i didnt pay either,my insurance covered it...but it is major surgery...so u shouldve gotten more info! i got a whole packet, stuffed with info....and this site is great! everyone is soooo helpful!!!
  9. ive been using college inn low sodium chicken and beef broth....im only able to have a half cup(burping the whole time),then i start feeling like i cant breathe!! hopefully that will get better soon! at the hospital, they gave me vegetable broth, which was delicious, but i cant find it anywhere!!
  10. yea it sucks....i havent been able to have anything but water and chicken broth....i tried the protein shake, but cant get it down...i feel like theres no room for anything! also, the 1st night, i slept on recliner and woke up with such a bad stiff neck...last night, i slept in bed, still have bad neck pain, but now im wondering if its really gas that imn feeling?
  11. hi guys!! i was also banded on oct5! i was ok until today...i feel like i did when i was 9 months pregnant and there wasnt enough room for the baby, which made it hard to breathe....standing,sitting,lying down,,,doesnt matter....not sure if its gas though
  12. i was banded on oct5...i was ok until today....cant get comfortable at all....i feel like i did when i was 9 months pregnant and the baby was taking up all the room in my stomach and i had a hard time breathing....this is the same feeling...i dont think its gas though
  13. i was banded on fri (oct5),and i have to go back to surgeon on mon oct 15...he said to stay on liquid diet til then...at my appt, they will do an xray of my esophagus....as long as everything looks ok,he said i can start soft foods after that.
  14. hi, i was banded yesterday, and it really wasnt bad....im very sore now,but so far,no gas...after reading all the posts on here, the gas pains were the one thing i was worried about! ive been taking gasx strips every hr,to kinda head off any gas...and ive been getting up and walkin aroung my house a few times an hour. what really helped me with the pre op diet was chicken broth! low sodium....really helped me to stay full!
  15. i was diagnosed with pcos about 5 yrs ago,doc put me on metformin to aid weight loss, but after a few months of losing nothing,i stopped taking it...my current primary doctor(who was also banded),told me that as i lose the weight,my pcos symptoms will disappear. i was banded yesterday....so we'll see.
  16. i'm home now, and very sore too!!! no gas pains yet but they gave me a bloodthinner shot in my arm....its killin me....all bruised and swollen( which the nurse said is normal)...other than that,i cant sleep,so ive been walkin, just took pain meds and relaxing now
  17. hi,im getting banded tomorrow also!! not really nervous, but very excited!! good luck to u!
  18. thank God its better!!!

i think people that see you on a daily basis arent going to notice your weight loss as much as someone you havent seen in awhile.....ive lost 14 lbs on my pre op diet....i havent been able to take my wedding ring off in 5 yrs and it came off easily today....so im expecting everyone to notice my weight loss!! lol only 2 people commented on it....so i decided...as long as i can see the difference(on the scale,by the feel of my clothes,by measuring)...who cares what others notice? most people are too selfish and wrapped up in their own world anyway....and i think thats why most people dont notice....lol
  20. mine says 10 days of thin liquids, then 10 days of pureed food, which includes scrambled eggs(cant wait!!),mashed pototoes,it says food should be fork mashed or blended...then 3 weeks after surgery...finally...regular diet
  21. hi!! my surgery is friday and im very excited...not nervous yet....prob will be by thur night! lol .....going shopping tomorrow for post op things....i finally found gasx strips in walmart, after looking everywhere else for weeks! so,stocked up on those....on my list: tomato soup, protein shakes of course, chicken broth, yogurt, diet v8 splash, sugar free hot chocolate...my only worry(besides the gas),is that i'll be starving...even though i've done well on my 10 days of liquids,i would kill for a burger or a slice of pizza!! lol my paperwork from the surgeon actually says to avoid tv for the first 10 days after surgery, because of the large number of food commercials!! good luck to you!!!!
  22. i'm on pre-op now, and slim fast was one of the shakes on my list...not as much protein as the others, but tastes good
  23. hoping to get in to see the doctor tomorrow....that gives me 5 days to get better
  24. my surgery is oct 5 and a few days ago,i developed a cough....i have been taking cough medicine, but i think its getting worse! my question is....if i still have this cough after the surgery, will it affect my healing? and can i do damage to the band? so worried,i dont want to have my surgery rescheduled!!
  25. ok i already bought the gas-x,but i wasnt going to bring it to the hospital...i figured they would give me something...im glad i asked u guys!!!
