i had my surgery on oct5,and was suppossed to get my first fill on nov1. my surgeon is part of nyu, which is still not fully functional after the hurricane....so i havent been for my first fill yet. i feel like i have restriction in the morn and afternoon...but come dinner..i feel like i could eat everything!! i dont, but i feel like i could,so i know i really need that fill. i had a friend of mine take my measurements the day before surgery, and i am so glad i did, because i was starting to get depressed when i saw that i only lost 15 lbs since surgery. so,i had her take my measurements again last night...i lost 4 inches off my waist,3 inches off my neck,1 off my wrist,4 off my chest, and 1 off my ankle!! this was great news, actually made it seem real, like its really working!! because even though other people noticed and commented on my weight loss,i didnt see it at all...maybe my clothes were a little looser, but nothing dramatic...but when i compared the inches lost,i was stunned!! another awesome thing...today i went to the dreaded gyn,,,i have not been there since last nov...my weight last yr at this time? 268...i didnt believe it,the nurse had to show me my chart!! my weight today? 215!! woohoo!! could it be that i finally found something that works?? it sure feels like it!

hi everyone, i was banded on oct5. i work in a hardware store and just recently have been a lot more active in work, lifting heavy boxes, putting out stock, going up and down steps, etc. i have noticed that on those very active days, after like 2 hours of activity,my port protrudes! i dont have any pain, its just an uncomfortable feeling. but it sticks out a lot, then after i get home from work, and relax a bit,it goes back to normal. has this happened to anyone else? is it normal? any answers would be appreciated!
  6. you shouldnt drink from a straw while you are still healing, because it causes air to go into your stomach, which creates more gas.

  8. what hospital? mine was done in nyu,and i know they still dont have power! my first fill was scheduled for today,im in staten island, and a lot of the island is still without power and my drs office was among them.
  9. ive seen this one online when i searched for recipes...looks great! were they easy to make??
  10. i have always been hot, even when everyone else is freezing,im hot...BUT,since sugery on oct5..i have been cold all the time!!! lol, its weird
  11. my surgeon did the same thing,my instructions said 10 days liquids,10 days mushies/soft foods, then reg diet...but after surgery,my surgeon said 1 week of liquids,1 week of soft, then if i feel ok, proceed to reg food.
  12. before being banded,i was swollen ALL the time...was on 2 water pills...morning,noon and night...hot weather, cold weather...nothing mattered....i was on a 10 day liquid diet pre op,it wasnt until my 8th day, that i saw a reduction in the swelling of my hands and feet!!! nutritionist said it was because of all those yrs of eating the wrong foods,it takes awhile to get all the toxins and salt out of the system. that being said,i am 22 days post op,and i have not had swollen ankles since right before surgery...i guess im doing something right!
  13. i bought sugar free chocolate, which im saving for the day when i just need a choc fix!!
  14. i am 21 days post op,and back when i was doing my research,i found this site...everyone on it is great at answering questions and very supportive, which is something you need after wls, when noone else understands what you are going through!!! as for how you feel after surgery, everyone is different...the 1st 3 days,i dont think i got off the couch at all, except to pee! after that,i started walking around my house a little bit everyday, and everyday i started to feel a little bit better...i went back to work on the 11th day post op,and i was fine, very very tired, but otherwise fine,no pain or anything, but like i said, everyone is different.
  15. everyone is different,my dr said he would be happy with a 5-10 lb loss...its not really about how much you lose though, its more about defatting or shrinking your liver, which makes the surgery easier and safer for you.
  16. i love diet v8 splash...no calories and tastes great!!
  17. wow 66 lbs in 4 months is awesome!!!!! i am 20 days post op,and i hope and pray that i will get to say that in 4 months!!!
  18. omg i'm sorry! thats horrible! i was worried about this also,i have ghi,and i never recieved an approval letter or phone call...my surgery was at nyu and throughout the whole process, everyone kept saying dont worry you will be approved.i had my surgery on oct5,got a letter from ghi the week before saying that the hospital stay wasnt approved, but not once did they mention the surgery! then nyu said dont worry about that letter,we will appeal it. i am now 20 days post op,and im waiting for the letter to come saying that i owe $20,000!! its funny how specific the insurance companies are on what their requirements are,but then when it comes time for them to pay, everythings cloudy!!!
  19. do you add any water to it?
  20. are you able to have salads?? i cooked for my family, and prepared my salad at the same time,so that we all sat down together and i was eating,so i didnt feel too deprived.
  21. before my surgery,i avoided all negative things people had to say about the lapband...i knew it was the right choice for me and may not have been the right choice for the ones that had problems.
  22. when i first decided to get this done,i told everyone i knew that i was considering it...just to get an idea of how people would react...and surprisingly, everyone was very supportive! actually,my husband was the only one who had doubts at first. he kept saying, you werent always heavy,if you just eat less and work out more, you can lose the weight,he didnt understand,UNTIL,his doctor told him that he was borderline diabetic and needed to lose 20-30 lbs...i watched him struggle to lose(he ended up only losing about 15)...but then he finally admitted how hard losing weight really is!! so,now,he has agreed to eat healthy with me...so while i am on this journey, hopefully we will both be getting healthier!!
