hey everyone...so,i took off from work today, traveled to nyu, paid for parking and paid my copay. spent the whole day there,dr stuck a needle in my still healing port site,to see if there was any liquid in there(there wasnt)...then,he added some liquid and then took it out,to see if something was stuck,if that would loosen it)...no relief...had an esophagram and thank God...no slip and no obstruction!! just really irritated and enflamed from the vomiting. on clear liquids for the next 2 days, then mushies. i came home, had some water, and slept for 3 hrs,im having chicken broth now...my throat still feels like its closing, but not nearly as bad as it was yesterday! also,my whole stomach is sooo sore, like it was after surgery!! i swear,i am never touching red meat again!!!! this whole episode scared the crap outta me!!! lesson learned!
  2. i was told dont lift anything heavier than a gal of milk for 6 weeks, but walking is fine.

yes it was my reg doctor i spoke to,who has the lapband.ive been calling my surgeon since 7am,not open yet. i feel like it is stuck right in my throat. i live in staten island and my surgeon is in manhatten,i was hoping to get it unstuck on my own,now i have to travel to him,pay a copay, pay for parking, and have another esophagram!! i swear,i am never eating any kind of meat again after this!!!!!

ok, so surgery was oct5 and went for postop everything looked good and dr put me on reg food...sat night,i tried a tiny piece of marinated steak, stupid,i know!! well it got stuck and i vomited slime. the steak didnt come up tho...now its 10pm on sunday night and everything ive tried to eat or drink since has come right back up! i called my dr who said it sounds like the meat got stuck and to call the surgeon in the morn for another esophagram. my question is...is there anything i can do myself to get the meat unstuck before i see the surgeon??? every five minutes or so,it fells like my throat is closing, then it subsides for a bit, dont wanna go to the er,because i dont think they are educated enough in the lapband.
  5. i am 15 days post op,and havent had my first fill yet,but i have been getting that stuck feeling also. yesterday i ate breakfast fine,at 7am...at 1230,tried to eat lunch, took 1 bite and vomited slime. today, breakfast and lunch fine, but i couldnt eat dinner...took 1 bite and vomited slime about 10 times...that was at 730pm...its now 1130pm,and i still dont feel better!!
  6. low sodium chicken broth helped me a lot...a big can makes about 3 cups, hardly any calories, and it filled me up!!
  7. my 3rd day post op,i was sick and vomited all day....will never understand why, because for the 1st week after surgery i could barely drink, i was so full.... ice chips and gatorade helped the nausea a lot!!
  8. how about veggie stir fry? or brown rice? a lot of chinese places have a menu for weight watchers
  9. i went back on the 12th day,i stand and walk a lot at work and i found myself tiring very easily...so every hour,i would try to sit for a few min,and that helped a lot!
  10. wow! good luck!!!! your surgeon sounds like a great person!!
  11. my answer is pretty simple...fitted clothes!!! i'd like to be able to wear a nice fitted tee, without worrying about everyone seeing fat rolls!!! lol
  12. i was wondering also what they base it on...i am going for my first fill on nov1,and so far,i havent really been that hungry at all,so im worried that he wont give me a fill!!
  13. heating pad def helps...also,i tried icy/hot and that worked too! i didnt start feeling back to normal until the 9th day...and i went back to work on the 12th day,its now 14 days post op and i still dont feel 100%,but,everyday is a little better than the day before!
  14. i am 2 weeks post op....and i hope and pray that in 2 months i can say i lost 24 lbs!!! you are doing awesome!!
  15. i want to be able to do the wii with my 10 yr old daughter, instead of just watching!!!
  16. im pretty sure they have liquid percocet.
  17. omg you guys are too funny!!! i am newly banded and new to this site....and i have to say...everyone has been very helpful and knowledgable. with that being said....everyone is different, what works for one,may not work for someone else. i have asked my fellow bandsters on here a million questions and its funny to see the wide variety of answers,BUT,thats because every surgeon has a different approach. so....i listen to all the advice, but at the end of the day,you gotta find what works for YOU.
  18. how about getting a pill crusher? thats what i did, then add the meds to something strong like crystal light raspberry,so it masks the taste of the pills.
  19. i am a cashier/bookeeper/manager in a hardware store,my typical work day consists of sitting at my desk for a few hrs, then running around the store for a few hrs, with some light lifting...i took 11 days off(today was actually my first day back, and i didnt do much more than stand around all day!!)....i was fine except that i was very, very tired...after work,i came home and put my feet up for a bit, then i was fine!!
  20. i decided to try the oatmeal this morning...i made it watery, and it went down fine! then for lunch i had egg salad w/ low fat mayo fork mashed, dinner was a can of lentil soup...i didnt have a prob with anything and the best part? i wasnt hungry at all!!! so i am a happy camper right now!!
  21. ok,i went for my followup appt with surgeon today and he said everything looks good and i can start mushies...now,he also said i can try anything thats soft....he said nothing about pureed foods. ofcourse,i didnt think i had any questions until after i left his office and started thinking!! sooo maybe u guys can help..i have my lunches and dinners all planned out...but..i'm worried about breakfast meals oatmeal: is it considered a soft food? whole grain waffle,if i microwave it,not toast it...it comes out soft..i figured with a SF jam on top,or SF syrup?? i go back to work tomorrow,so im trying to plan breakfasts that are fast and easy. i really dont have time in the morn to scramble an egg or anything else that requires cooking!! any suggestions will be appreciated!!
  22. i am 10 days post op...i weighed myself this morn, before my follow up appt with surgeon...and the scale said i was down 7lbs...not as much as i hoped, considering that ive had nothing but liquids for 10 days....so,i left the house feeling a little dissapointed....BUT...when i got to drs office and they weighed me....according to their scale,i am only down 2 lbs!! WTF?? before i started pre op,i said that i would weigh every 2 weeks...so,thats what im going to stick to....i know im still healing,dr said my stomach is still swollen. i started mushies today and will start walking tomorrow... my point is....for the 6 weeks post op,healing is more important than losing..and thats what you need to focus on...thats what i'll be doing!!! at least for another 2 weeks
  23. omg...i would def start looking for another fill doctor!!! thats horrible!
  24. def call your doctor, but i dont think its anything to worry about.....i guess surgery lowers your immune system...sometimes i will spot while having the flu,(immune system is lower when u are sick)...just a guess on my part, but it makes sense
  25. i take seasonique, which is a birth control that i dont get my period....the first 2 days after surgery i was spotting, i think it was because i didnt read my post op instructions well enough...it said for the first 10 days after surgery, crush all meds...the pill is tiny,so i figured i was fine, but i wonder if it was too tiny for my new pouch
