  1. It'll be a year come October that I got banded. I'm only down 60lbs, and still have 80-90lbs to go before my goal weight. Yes I feel a difference and see a difference since last year, but nothing compared to what I was told by Drs and what I was expecting. I hear from my dietician once a month and all she has to say is, "well clearly you're not following things properly" She keeps pushing another fill, but I know I couldn't handle it. I have had only 1 fill and would never go in for another. Some days I find it hard to keep anything down and feel like I should be living off of water and/or liquids but who wants to live like that for the rest of their lives. Other days everything and anything stays down, but I am constantly hungry. Honestly given the opportunity to do this surgery again I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. And to make things worse, I have family and friends that know I've had the surgery and tell me they don't see it working. Its really discouraging. I'm writing this in tears and ready to give up. Someone please tell me it gets better and it was worth it.
  2. Happy 29th Birthday sookemama!

    October Bandsters?

I never got a pre-op diet either. Although I've decided to do what I call the Pre-Op For Post-Op diet... I'm doing as much as I can liquid-wise (surprisingly a lot better than I thought I would... I've faultered a few times but only for a small salad or veggies) so i can prepare for the post-op diet that I will be on... its pretty strict (really almost what the majority of people are doing for pre-op). I guess as others have said, it all depends on your surgeon and their way of doing things. Best of Luck to Everyone!

I've been using them for pre-op. I don't get banded until the 9th of Oct. My Dr. doesn't seem to have any problems with me "spicing" my shakes up.

    Shake Recipes

Hey Everyone, I thought I would share a few of my fav shake recipes with you. Nutritional information will be based on what you use, milk, Protein powder etc... I use Almond milk for all my shakes, as its less fat and ads a nice little flavour. These are all fairly low cal, but makes things interesting and adds a twist to the regular vanilla or chocolate! I have more, if people want them... but I tend to just be crazy creative and add random things. I don't tend to add ice cubes, as I don't like the crunch of small chips my blender leaves, but feel free to add as many as you wish for that extra smoothy feel! Enjoy! pumpkin Spice 2 scoops Vanilla Protein Powder 8-10oz milk 1/3 cup of pumpkin Drop of vanilla Dash of Cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves ( I freeze my pumpkin in an ice cube tray, and use about 4 in my shake, then you dont need to add ice and its less messy!) Carrot Cake 2 scoops Vanilla Protein 8-10oz milk 1/2 carrots 1tbsp fat-free cream cheese dash of cinnamon and nutmeg ButterFinger (for those choc. lovers! Its amazing!!!) 2 scoops chocolate Protein powder 8-10oz milk 2 tbsp of Butterscotch pudding mix (powder only) 2 tbsp natural smooth Peanut Butter Chai Latte 2 scoops Vanilla Protein 8-10oz milk 1 banana 1tbsp Ice Tea powder mix (add more for sweetness to taste) Cinnamon (to taste) Dash of ginger, cloves, black pepper

What Do You Look Forward To???

I just want to be able to chase my little princess around the yard and feel good doing it and not like I'm going to die. But I'm not going to lie, I have a corset that I bought when I first met my husband and he was blown away by it and I am so excited for the day I get back into it and surprise him with the fact I've still got it! I'm bringing sexy back to my bedroom!
  11. I'm down to 2 weeks before my surgery, and I don't have a very strict pre-op diet. Although I've been preparing myself for what to expect afterwards. So I'm trying my hardest to be strict on what I eat etc... I've already lost 12.5lbs myself. But I'm craving everything! And I want to eat everything thats not allowed after being banded! Last night we had our last family take out night, Thai (which isnt that bad) but I felt so guilty after eating it, I cried. And to makes things worse, the Canadian Thanksgiving is right before I go in... so I feel like its my 'last supper' Did anyone else feel this way as their surgery date approaches and how did you cope? Please help!

    This Is My Month!

October 9th! I'm sooo excited! A little nervous, but I think thats just part of "going through surgery"
  14. Hi Everyone! I'm new to the site, and have honestly not really come out yet to many people that I am getting "banded" so this is a huge step for me to be taking and sharing my story. I was always a bit bigger growing up, although I have had some weight issues I was able to maintain a healthy size in my later teens. But once I hit my 20s and got pregnant things started to change drastically. I put on about 100lbs during pregnacy, and after things started going down hill... I gained more and have over doubled my size since before pregancy. I have tried everything from fad diets, to Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers. I'm a regular at the gym and have to be in somewhat good shape as I am in the military and have standards to meet. But yet I'm fat. I finally decided to go this route, when my last attempt at WW didn't work and I stepped on the scale and saw almost 300lbs! I'm happy to say that after a long process of getting approvals, making a final decision and getting down 10lbs or so, so I can safely have the surgery I now have a booked date! October 9th, 2012 I'm so excited to start my life over, and gain the confidence back and life I had before. I'm looking forward to the days that I can actually run after my lil' princess and not feel as though I'm going to die after a few steps. I can't wait to share my journey with you all!
