Financing? Why the extra fee?
I think all of us who were self-pay would have jumped through those hoops if we could have but in my case, my emloyer had a WLS exclusion on our insurance plan so even if I offered to jump through hoops of fire, it would have done me absolutely no good.

LBL; Breast Lift/Reduction - 10/30/08- yippee! yikes!
I'm sorry you're feeling grumpy. Hang in there, you know when this passes you'll have perky boobs (excuse the crudeness) and that will make it all better.

I hate it when people post just to post.....
Beth, once they're in you they'll be able to see if you have a hiatal hernia. You should mention it to your doctor when he comes to see you before the surgery. Most doctors pop in and say hello to you before you go under. If you don't see your doctor, you can tell your nurse and ask her/him to mention it to your doctor.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
Momwithaband, your weight loss journey is phenomenal. I saw the before pics and I'm assuming your avitar is your current pic. What a difference! I'm sorry you're experiencing problems now but doing liquids for a couple of days will probably help the band quite a bit.

Welcome. We're glad to have you. Your weight loss is amazing. Is that all post-op or did you lose some before being banded? How has your journey been so far?

I think an anonymous note would be really cruel. That would leave the person wondering who it was or if the whole office was in on it.

self-pay plastic surgery anyone???
I'm not quite ready but hoping to be at goal next summer so I'd like to start looking into it sooner than later. Manatee, it sounds like your doc was reasonable. Do you mind sharing his name and location? I'm in Houston.

I'm curious, have any of you tested yourself on the Ketostix? If you've ever been on an Atkins diet, you will know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I found some strips left over from a couple of years ago and tested my self today and the results said my ketone levels were moderate. I never reached moderate level even when I was doing Atkins before so I think I am at the fat burning stage.

Unsettling retail news....
I can't say I'm surprised. I heard months back that there were 30%+ more retail stores open than customers could reasonably support; this was BEFORE the big bust on Wall Street.

did i make a mistake
It seems different doctors proscribe different diets pre and post op. I'm not sure how difficult your diet is but the time will pass. Remember this is a small sacrifice for a small period of time. Once you have healed and can start to eat more of a regular diet, then you'll feel better, especially once you experience some restriction. Having said that, this is not a miracle cure and the band is simply a tool. Use it correctly and you will get good results. Remember also, individuals get different results so please resist the urge to compare your progress against that of others. I too sometimes question my decision to be banded when I get frustrated, but it's usually very brief lapses and at the end of the day, I'm very glad I got the band and I know that I will reach goal.

Ketostix
I had some Ketostix left over from my Atkins diet a couple of years ago and out of curiosity tested myself. It shows my keytone levels in the moderate category. Even when I was on the Atkins diet I could never get the test to be in the moderate level. The most I ever got was at the small level.
