September 18 - LBL
Karen, you may be experiencing a bit of plastic surgery addiction. This is a topic they've covered extensively and it appears that once they've gone under the knife for PS, the fear and stigma of PS has been removed for them and they start seeing other areas they'd like to improve. I'm sure it's a fine line between wanting to be your best and going overboard on PS to achieve it. Have a talk with your surgeon and see what he thinks. If you trust him and he's a reputable surgeon, he probably will tell you if he thinks you are crossing the line.

Last of 2008 Weight Loss Challenge
WTG Claudine! Don't short change yourself and say you just want to maintain through the holidays, that's still another month! If you managed to do this well already, then set another mini goal for New Year's Eve. I haven't even come close to my goal so my New Year's resolution will be to really focus on the exercise.

imb, WOW! I'm so thrilled for you and it's stories like yours that keep me inspired when I get frustrated. Thanks for sharing.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
Everyone is doing great on their weight loss and whether it was pre or post band, it's a loss so it's all good. I am a painfully slow loser and realize I really need to get back on the exercise bandwagon to kick off my weight loss. Starting today, I'm getting back into exercising by starting my walking routine this evening.

Kareyquilts: Arms, Butt & Thighs, Oh My!
Sometimes when I think about the band, I resent it. Is this thing going to have to be in me for the rest of my life? Why can't I control myself after I reach goal? I've been told by my doc and from reading the posts here that once unfilled or unbanded, people tend to start spiraling out of control again with their eating. When the band plays such a small part in the weight loss, why does it play such a BIG part in maintaining it?!?

I hate it when people post just to post.....
Fanny, thanks for the pics of the gorgeous scenery and beautiful horses. PTP: It's 50F in Houston this morning--the kids are hopeful it will snow. I told them that it has to get A LOT colder than that to snow but they figure if it can get this cold in Houston, it can get cold enough to snow. Can't help but envy the hopeful optimism of children. Beth - thinking of you today. Let us know as soon as you feel up to posting how you're doing.

Manatee's turn for plastics
Sorry to hear you are in the job market at this very precarious time in the economy. Good luck with the job search and the revision.

I haven't been receiving e-mail notifications from LBT all day. Has anyone else had this same issue?

Thanks for the words of encouragement. At this rate, it's going to be a long, long time before I'm ready to post any "cheesecake photos"

Congrats! Is this your first son? Daughters are awesome but sons are simply darling!

I didn't have a pre-op diet requirement. I did lose 7-10 lbs the first week post op (probably because of luquids/mushy stage). Now I'm depressed because that means in the 4 months since then I've only lost 13 lbs which averages 3.25 lbs per month! Arg!

Aunt Flo Question.........
Not a lot info -- are you peri menopausal? It sounds like pre-band you were irregular and once banded became more regular. Now you've added in some exercises so that could maybe affect it as well. Bottom line, if there is a significant change in our bodies (e.g., weight, illness, nutrition) it can affect your period. I'm very regular and always have been my entire life, but last year for no apparent reason my period became very irregular for a few months and my gyno said as long as you are having at least one period every 3 months or so and you have no other symptoms, it's not really a cause for concern.

July Butterflies Master Thread
Welcome Denise. Slow and steady wins the race... or so they say. It's been very slow for me and not all that steady but the weight is on a decline and not an incline so I'm grateful for that. May I make a suggestion? Your registered username "Ready2diet" might be playing pyschological games with you. I know it is with me. Remember, we got the lapband so we could LIVE, not DIEt. We have to make LIFEstyle changes for the rest of our LIVES. DIEts don't work, that's why we're here. OK, I'm stepping off my soapbox now and sorry for lecture at your first meet and greet.

Things I won't/don't miss about being Obese
Well, hopefully he likes YOU big or small. After the banding, the intent is for you to get smaller.

can someone please answer my question?
I did not feel any restriction until my 4th fill. When you feel restriction is as individual as you.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Phyl, hit him upside the head with a frying pan. A big, nice cast iron one. Honestly, if my DH said ONE WORD to me about what I eat, it wouldn't be me leaving the house. It doesn't sound like your DH's actions are coming across as supportive but rather more submersive. That kind of stress in making you feel like you have to hide your eating from him may trigger some old bad habits. Tell him to just STFU. Anyway, that's my 2 cents and probably worth a lot less.

Gorgeous! My daughter has never played in snow and my son doesn't remember. We are going to try to schedule a winter vacation so we can be around snow.
