I got banded on the 16th too. I'm 5'0" and was at 213 when I got the band. Today I'm 186. I lost 4 lbs since my 5th fill this past Tuesday. That's what helped me break through the plateau, but more importantly, really helped to remotivate me. I couldn't agree more with your comment about this being the best investment I've ever made. How can anything compare to investing and improving in oneself? Joiful, ignore all those that are cutting at you for being banded because of a low start weight. That's all BS. It's been proven that those with 40lbs or more to lose find it nearly impossible to lose without medical intervention. What are you supposed to do? Wait until you are 100 or more lbs overweight? My only regret is that I didn't do this earlier at a lower weight.

I finally broke through the plateau! Since my 5th fill on Tuesday, I've dropped 4 lbs! yay me!

33 lbs is nothing to sneeze at! You can't compare yourself to others; it'll drive you crazy. We're all different and we lose at our own pace. Just stick with it and the weight will give way.

I'm sorry -- how awful. Ouch! Sometimes well meaning friends are the worst! Even though these are painful experiences, it only helps to reinforce for us that we did the right thing by getting the band and continue to motivate us so that we can throw these "kind" gestures and not so kind comments away and never have to hear them again!

Ceradad, consider me chastised but I already posted that earlier... maybe you should have read the whole thread? Anyway, I don't disrespect all cops nor do I put them on a pedestal. Putting on a uniform does not turn one into a better human being, it just makes one a human being in a uniform. I admire and respect people who do their jobs. I don't believe traffic cops enjoy being traffic cops any more than people enjoy being pulled over. It's just something that has to happen in an ordered society and we all play our part.

Before this last fill (Tuesday) I could eat just about anything EXCEPT: granny smith apples, donuts and thick cut potato chips. Breads, pasta and rice were no problems at all (I only ate the crusty parts of the bread or toasted).

Not surprising since there are less than 300,000 Icelanders (yes, I'm married to a rare species). :whatchutalkingabout Iceland is simply GORGEOUS. It's the most unspoiled developed nation on earth. The views are breathtaking. We try to go every couple of years. We're tenatively planning on going this June but right now the tickets for travel to Iceland this June starts at $1488 if flying out of Sanford FL (the closest to Houston). If the prices don't drop, I don't see us purchasing 4 tickets to go this summer. In previous years it was just under $500 after taxes and fees.

Costco brand (Kirkland) 100% Columbian is the best deal on the market. Cheaper than any other brand anywhere and tastes better than most. My husband is Icelandic so our coffee is brewed strong.
