Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Jullee, I had the same problem with painful drinking. I tried to sip on water every 15 minutes. This pain lasted until the 5th day post-op. Then one morning I woke up and was able to swollow with no pain! It will happen, every person's experience is SO different. You may still be having gas pains and are swollen. If you are not better by Monday, I would call the dr. for suggestions. Hang in there!

Terry, did you have the flaming golf ball before you were filled for the first time? My dr. already allows bow-tie pasta for the 2nd week post-op, but I'm afraid of eating pasta. I feel very restricted even though have not had a fill yet, was banded April 11.

Dave, my dr. gives 1st fill 3 weeks post-surgery. Isn't it strange how the doctors orders are different from each other?

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Oh, can I ever relate! I had my surgery Wednesday (4/11) and the gas is still so VERY painful! I called my doctor and they told me to walk and take Gas-X, nothing else they could do. I have found out that the pain meds. do help with the pains being so bad that you could cry. I'm so sorry that you are having these pains! I go back to the dr. tomorrow, and if he tells me anything new, I'll let you know. Hang in there, I know it will get better!

Jennifur, I too was sooooo worried about getting sick. I came very close on day 2, but dr. gave me enough meds and I took them every hour. Make sure that dr. gives you meds to take home!

Jennifur, I know exactly how you feel! I was banded on Wednesday, and was so worried that something would go terribly wrong, even though this was the least invasive surgery for me to date! Just try to think about how you will feel in 4 weeks (that's what my surgeon said) and the weight will not come back (of course, you have to follow the rules). Just expect that you will be sore and have gas pains. But you will NOT be hungry! 2 ounces is filling me up right now, so try to think about how happy you will be loosing weight for good! If you can, make some homemade chicken broth, it was like drinking a piece of heaven and it will keep you busy. Hang in there, you CAN do it!!!!!!

I want a burp that feels like heaven!!!!!!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
I was banded on Wednesday, and boy I am glad to have that behind me! I had an allergic reaction to the codeine, so it has been a very rough 3 days! However, I did just finish 2 oz. of tomato soup and it was wonderful (never thought 2 oz. of soup would EVER fill me up!). Does anyone else have pain when they burp? It really hurts to burp, even though I know this is what I need. Good luck to everyone being banded on Monday. The surgery really isn't as bad as I thought, but the gas pains are pretty bad.

Tommow is the big day and I'm nervous! I don't post often, but read everything that you guys post, I love it! You all have been so encouraging and so helpful. Don't know what I would have done without this forum! Thank you all again for your concern for everyone! Just wish that it was Saturday and all this would be over with....

Teachlady, my doctor allows hot tubs and pools after 4 weeks (if it is your personal pool) and 6 weeks for public pools. Sounds like a wonderful evening!

Kristen, I have been singing your quote to myself since the day I was scheduled for surgery (which has been moved to April 11, but was originally set for tomorrow also).! I really think this quote is so very appropriate! Good luck tomorrow, you'll do great! :clap2:

Oh NOOOOOOOOOO! I've been rescheduled from March 29 to April 11, what a disappointment! I was so mentally ready (well as much as I could have been) for the March 29th surgery. I have really appreciated all of the comments from everyone. It has helped me so much to hear other people's stories, struggles and victories. I'm so glad that I found out about this site.

March 2007 Bandsters
This is my 1st attempt to post, I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly! I've only been on the site for about 2 weeks. It is great! I am scheduled for surgery March 29 and am very nervous (and excited at the same time). I've started asking myself "what the heck are you about to do?" Does anyone else feel the same way?:paranoid
