  1. They showed it and explained it on tv. If you go to Night Line's site I am sure you can see how gross it is. I have never did the fingers down the throat. That to me is too gross.

While most of you were sleeping I turned on Night Line around 12:30am and they talked about a new WLS, something Aspire. They hook up a device onto your stomach and 20 minutes after you eat your meal you hook up a vacuum type device to your stomach thing and it empties your stomach contents into the toilet. How gross is this? My husband said it is like throwing up. It is being used in Europe and tested in the US. They did mention the Band, Bypass and the Sleeve and said the Aspire is less invasive. Never would I ever think of something that gross. I had an appointment with the doctor tomorrow for a fill but Boston is getting a blizzard so it is now next week. I am happy about that because my oldest son is turning 38 Sunday and we are going out for dinner. Now I can eat and not just have a hot tea. Have a super day everyone. Time for food shopping and the gym. Arlene
  3. That is so super!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Reading about people, like yourself makes it all seem doable. Thank you.
  4. Yes, soft. Each time I get a fill my doctor gives me another piece of paper with the different stage foods.
  5. My doctor said never. But each doctor has their own ideas about everything. Check with the doctor for the best answer.
  6. That does sound great if you eat that. Sorry, but I am one of the worse eaters ever. I do take iron chewables every day.
  7. I love sweet and sour meatballs. I made some last night because next week I will need them, having a fill Friday. Also, grilled salmon and lump crab are great. Good luck.
  8. I eat all of them. But in much smaller quantity than I ever did. I would go out for dinner and eat a basket of bread and ask for more. I now only have a small portion and it makes me happy. For lunch I had mashed potatoes but since there was skin on them I had maybe 2-3 forkfuls. I was satisfied with that small amount. I see my doctor for fill and dietitian on Friday. A new dietitian for me.
  9. I had one repaired with the band. I was being treated for years for COPD and after many tests showed the hernia. I took 6 pills a day to eat and take zero now. My stomach was also in the wrong place and was moved down.
  10. Great news! When I had my band I couldn't go in a pool for 6 weeks. You are lucky. I was banded 7/29 and have a pool at my condo and couldn't go in.(:.
  11. My dietitian told me what brands to buy and I saw this one and liked it. I am a chocolate only person. My protein shakes are only chocolate, too. When you find something you like, stick with it. Good luck. We don't have Sam's Club in the Boston area.
  12. I got the band because I suck at dieting or at least following through for a long time. My lung doctor signed me up and told me you're going to the meeting and having the surgery. Best advice. I am off all prescription medications from before the surgery, so that is a wonderful thing. I now go to a gym and didn't before and really enjoy it. I can move better and walk longer, more than 5 minutes was a chore for me now I can walk about 1 mile. I want to live to see my grandsons all get married and out live my almost 95 year old mother! great question.
  13. Time to call a doctor. This doesn't sound normal if you have been banded for so long.
  14. i love Zone. Chocolate almond and all chocolate. I get them at BJ's they come with a large box of each of those. My husband eats them too. I keep them in the car for safety.

I saw my PCP today and went over my meds etc. She said that about 6 months ago a study said that there is no evidence that fish oil helps against heart health. I see my WLS doctor Friday and I am also going to ask him. Has anyone heard of this? I have been taking fish oil gummies since the Band in July. Have great Tuesday everyone.
  16. I have trouble with pork, too. Try the filet. I have eaten filets about 4-6 times with no trouble. I find it easier than chicken. I do very well with meatballs/burgers. I get a fill Friday so I will be eating meatballs the beginning of the week. I usually make sweet and sour ones.
  17. After having many different steaks, a filet is the most tender and easiest to chew. I had one last night. Last night I cut it into small pieces and stir fried it with Chinese veggies and Chinese sauce over rice and it was super.
  18. i had an aunt who always made comments to my husband about his weight. Finally he said to her, I can change, you never will. She never again made a comment about his big belly. Sometimes you need to answer people.
  19. Everyone is right, people are just mean. I am very proud of you for eating those cookies. See your day was not all hell.Your friends should have turned off the chat and /or stuck up for you but being that you are 21 they still need to grow up a bit. At 21 I don't know what I would have done about sticking up for someone. Smile, one day you will be that thinner you and maybe help some over weight person in need.
  20. I have a great ebay story for you. My son's friend use to work in Boston and would go to Filene's Basement, it was a famous mark down department store every day during lunch. He would buy 100 pairs of designer jeans, fur coats etc. and almost never lost money. He would make about $5000. a month from this. My son would go clothes shopping in his closet and spend 1-2 hours in there it was so big. I need to use ebay for a lot of stuff. Thanks for the idea.
  21. I looked like that too. I was banded the end of July and the stomach still makes noises every day and at bed time. I was told by some it is normal. Hiccups are normal also. Have you tried sugar Popsicle? They are great to have. Good luck.
  22. Congratulations! The gas feels better when you apply heat, like a heating pad. The hiccups I still get and others have said it goes with the band. Any other questions, just ask, everyone is very helpful.
  23. tonight I made Trader Joe's chicken teriyarki (spelled so wrong). First I stir fried pea pods, water chestnuts and almonds cooked in an Asian sauce, then added the cooked chicken and poured it all onto brown rice. It was super!!
  24. You are going into this with a great open mind and being positive is the best way to start. Good for you and good luck.
  25. I have Chinese food about once a week. I have brown rice and shrimp or chicken with veggies and I like to add hoison sauce to it. Sometimes I have spareribs on the bone, too. I used be in love with chicken wings and find them hard to chew and digest. Also, I enjoy moi shi. My dietitian said I have no restrictions on any foods but eat smart.
