simply.torri got a reaction from PantxaPetita in Saggy Skin
    Hi,
I am really scared of saggy skin too, especially since i have love handles and a kangaroo pouch under my belly! I am 27 and HOPING that youth is on my side however.. i read on another discussion board, posted by a personal trainer, that if you start weight training before surgery and continue weight training afterward (just doing free weights, not necessarily cardio) that your skill will bounce back nicely. Also of course Water Water water and i also read that exfoliating your skin helps with that too. Here is a website with some tutorials for strengh training and pin-pointing certain areas! I am starting on this TODAY! www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/

I have been here too. My reply to my friend was something similar to this:
It is not up to you to determine how and when God will present me with an option that will be long lasting and beneficial to my health. God promised "life and life more abundantly" and "health and prosperity". It is up to you as an individual to pursue those things and I have made bad decisions. I have tried to exercise and get my temple right, but this is a weak area. I KNOW that God opened the door for me to have this operation, and the result will be that his temple will finally be healthy -- the way he planned and his child (me) will be happy.
God gives you tools to use to enhance your life. If you lose your job and need money... it does not fall from a tree, he will lead somebody to give you the money or lead somebody to offer you a part time position, or whatever. Theres no difference here -- I am over weight, I am headed down the road for diseases and God has given me this last opportunity to make a permanent change.
Why do you think he gave the doctors the capacity to learn, understand and be innovative enough to come up with this procedure? If this is not a subject you can handle talking about or supporting me on, then we will avoid it all together.

WOW, I just came from my 1st follow up visit since I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 11-19-12. I can proudly say that im not considered morbidly obese" anymore. Im down "36lbs". I feel great and just got had my post op diet adjusted. This is the best decision I made. I actually decided to have the surgery after my wife had it in April 2012. I told her that she wasnt going to go thru this alone. Shes over 60lbs down now. I know this is a lifestyle change, but to do this with the one I love is just making us grow closer together and making the change eaiser for both of us. Im looking forward to the time that we go out to dinner and find out that 1 appetizer fills us both up lol. I wish everyone that has this proceedure all the best. Pictures to follow soon.

Also, I believe that you will get through this! You were strong enough to head to Mexicali, get active, and drop the weight. You are strong enough to get back on track and pull yourself over this hurdle!
    Hugs!

    OMG - FINALLY!!!!
    Hey Nikki,
I am pre-op and asked about this type of situation in the forum twice and no one answered. I am guessing its the "elephant in the room" situation. So I have to thank you - with all of my heart for this posting.
I am an emotional eater and am getting sleeved in February. I know I can lose the weight but also know my emotions are stronger than my will power (hence me being 314lbs). I was hoping that the surgery would help me get down to my goal weight and my emotions become controllable with help from a therapist.
Now the reality of how hard it will be to maintain is out there, I will work from now to seek professional help.
    Thanks again Nikki!

Just imagine urself on the other side of it and plan for what you will do after the surgery. Most people think of their mortality when going under the knife but you will be just fine.

It's tough to comment if we don't know what you are eating, how much you have to lose, if you are counting your fats and carbs....you could be losing slowly because you're breaking all of the smart rules, or you could be losing slowly because you never had a huge amount to lose, or your body might just lose slowly. That said...you are LOSING not gaining right?????

I think it is pretty much standard - my gastro said they just want to make sure there aren't any surprises/issues before they do the surgery. I even came home with two pages of pictures. Pretty cool.

I got this response from my mother. I told her that i guess God didn't intend stents in arteries, artificial valves, appendectomies or a host of other medical interventions. I just had a friend die of sleep apnea, so this IS a medical necessity.
I'm Catholic. I cannot find where medical procedures come under the heading of SIN. The definition of sin is something that drives you from God.
I suppose riding on a roller coaster is not natural either, but I think God would like roller coasters.

I've done a few pole and chair classes. Let me tell you it is a workout and you will sweat! I went at my heaviest 288 lbs. one of the instructors was over 300 lbs when she started and she's down to 180. She is the reason I joined. She can do all the pole tricks and can hang upside down. You definitely have to stick with it to build your upper body strength. I haven't been in a while but it's definitely a fun workout. And definitely buy the platform shoes. Better leg and calf shaping.

Malabsorbtion was one deciding factor why I chose sleeve. And didn't like the idea of reconnecting my plumbing. More chance of complication, in my opinion. And I have to say I think about the options I had now that I am postop and 100% glad I made this choice practically every day.
Good you guys are doing research and glad posters are adding links for you. Have faith you will make the best choice for you, and all will fall into plave. You'll see. Best wishes!

I have tried them "Miracle Noodle" brand. It didnt smell or taste weird. It was a bit chewier than regular noodles, but they basically suck up the flavor of what you cook them in. I had the best result when I let them cook in the crock pot for a while. I did chicken Soup and it was pretty good! Very filling, feels like your cheating lol. (I am still pre-op)

I don't go to the support meeting although they are offered by my doctor. Its a distance thing. Traffic in Northern Virginia is bad and I have kids in grade school to tend to. I use this website as my support group.
