  1. Generally, when you can go 4-5 hours without feeling hungry after a meal you are in the so-called "zone". I was there and not feeling hungry between meals, etc. Then I had a period of not getting any food down and a lot of stuck moments so I recently had an unfill and will be starting over. So far, so good though and I still feel satiated and not hungry.
  2. The port site will hurt for a while. It is the largest, most invasive cut with the stitching, etc. Mine was sore for the first 4-6 weeks. It gets better though. Hang in there.
  3. don't give up! Keep us posted.
  4. We are all eager to lose the weight, but fact of the matter is the typical weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. You are doing well!
  5. I'm so proud of you my banded sister!! You have done an amazing job and are such an inspiration to us still reaching for our goals. Happy bandiversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Churros for everyone! LOL Seriously, great job!!
  6. Sorry you are struggling. Are you also ensuring you are eating tiny bites, pausing till fully swallowed and then on to next bite? I know you are a veteran bander but sometimes a "refresher" is in order. If you are following those guidelines, perhaps you do need a slight unfill or perhaps there is something going on w/ the band. I hope you are back to "normal" soon. If it doesn't improve, I would suggest calling your dr.
  7. congratulations and welcome to the "other side".. we have lots of room on the wagon for you!
  8. I agree. You could be putting your health and your band at risk. By not paying the $125 now, it could end up w/ hundreds/thousands later if there is something more serious going on. My surgeon's office bills me so I pay it over time. Not sure if yours would do the same. At the very least, I would suggest calling your dr's office and explaining your symptoms and financial dillema and see what they have to say. We are not medical professionals, nor do we know your medical history. I don't mean to be harsh and mean this out of concern for you.
  9. I, too, am very sorry you had to endure that. I hope one day you will also find the confidence to speak up for yourself with your friends and others to not allow anyone to speak to you that way either. It is very hard to find that voice and courage for many of us that have wanted to be "hidden" for so many years. You did great yesterday w/ not eating or drinking the junk and for that you should be very proud. Food doesn't have to control your life anymore, YOU do and you being strong like that is proving you can and ARE doing this!! Just try not to internalize the rudeness of others and insensitivity of others. Bottling those feelings of hurt are often what led us to such poor self images and turning to food for comfort. Have a great day!
  10. Usually some hot tea or coffee helps me. I also found that taking sips (like when I freshly had surgery) helped me rather than drinking as normal. If it continues and you cannot get sips down, then you may want to call your dr. for a slight unfill until this passes. Going forward, perhaps you could look into whether you can cut your pill to avoid this going forward.
  11. How are you feeling today msrhonda?
  12. Rest up! Glad you got some meds to help you.
  13. Just dropped my daughter at school and a girl was walking with a hoodie and capris. Come on now... LOL. Its brutal today.
  14. Your hubby knows we're right! Good luck at your appt.
  15. Relax... (I mean that nicely). I know you are frustrated; however, I think sticking w/ your surgeon's plan of seeing your primary doctor is key. I think if your surgeon felt that would help you or was necessary he/she would have suggested that. Please go see your pcp. Maybe you have strep or something and need some antibiotics.
  16. Your overall health is far more important than a fill right now. I hope your primary doc offers you some relief from your ailments.
  17. well, hmmm... let us know what dr. says
  18. This is so true and a great reminder. Sometimes rather than focusing on what we can't do or our limitations, we need to focus on what we can do. I cannot run marathons, but I can walk. I cannot eat most breads, but I can eat many other delicious and more nutritious foods, etc... There are always alternatives and even the worst experiences are opportunities for us to grow and learn from!
  19. MsRhonda, you were recently banded and it takes many weeks for the port site to feel comfortable. You may need to find other positions to sleep in for a few more weeks until that is healed more. I had to put a thin pillow under the side of my tummy and sleep on my side for a while. However, if you are unsure or it's more than discomfort, you may want to consult your doctor's office.
  20. That's awesome AJ!!! You look great in your profile pic too. I am so proud of you and hope I am that successful too.
  21. Perhaps if you cannot meet with the surgeon now $ you can meet with a nutrionist who works with banded patients. I think you would get a lot out of it or find a local support group.
  22. I think your food choices may be it too. You are mentioning sandwiches and burritos, etc... tortillas and bread do not work for many of us. I will get stuck with both. So now if I want a burrito I have it without the tortilla. If I want a sandwich I can sometimes do it with a thin piece of a heavier bread like multigrain or if I toast it. Also you should try to focus on getting 3-4 ounces of protein first, such as moist meat, lean ground meat, etc then veggies. Cut out the breads as it gives little to no nutrition and has more likelihood of getting stuck. You will get this figured out. Lastly, Jean McMillan who posted here earlier and Alex the founder of LBT each have books on the band. They may be helpful. Hang in there.
  23. Thanks for the reminder Sojo. This is great advise.
  24. Glad it wasn't too horrific! Funny, how we learn. I had that happen. I ate then promptly left in the car to pick up my friend 2 miles away. Ate too fast and we were heading to the gym. All of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks and I didn't think I would get to her house fast enough. Embarrassing to get there and go flying in the door up the stairs to her bathroom. It's now a joke between us that I go to her house to throw up. Ah, the life of a bandster.
