Anything you do has complications that can occur. Doesn't mean that they are going to. You need to sit down and figure out the pros vs the cons! Don't let anyone one else, not even your mother, make a decision about YOUR body for you. You need to make decisions that you think are best for you. Have you gone to support meetings for WLS in your area? They really do help and then you can meet people in person and share their experiences with you! Most people will tell you that WLS was the best thing that they have done. pills only work if you are taking them or using them as a tool. A lot of this process is mental and you have to change how you think about food and how you use food. Just do what is best for you and only you can make that decision!

Deep breaths.... Yes there is a risk to having this surgery but when the obesity gets to the point of being deadly in itself.. they are risks worth taking.

Warning TMI alert! OMG! I'm not sure if its because of the weight loss but tonight for the first time in over 2 years my husband came onto me! He initiated sex all on his own and he had no trouble getting "prepared". I'm literally in tears over the shock and excitement. He never initiates sex nor does he show any desire to be with me. Maybe it was the weight loss or maybe the new dress but he NOTICED me and actually liked it. I can't believe it. I'm still in shock. We had hot sweaty sex before I almost had a heart attack. Lmbo. I didn't want to freak him out and start crying.

I don't think I have ever been so tired and so sore in my ENTIRE life. I am a week out from meeting with my surgeon and hopefully receiving a surgery date within the next 30 days. So I decided to jump into a workout regimen....A BOOTCAMP! Part of me feels like I need this workout and part of me feels like it's too much.
I believe I'm the biggest person in the class and I am truly struggling. Bouncing around with 300 on my back/knees is KILLER!! I hurt
    1,
If I ever mention that I'm considering not having the surgery.....PLEASE...just say the work BOOTCAMP!!!!

Groovinchikin got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Did anyone need to lose 200+ lbs?
Yes! I started out at 400lbs and to make it to goal I need to loose about 220lbs. On Wednesday I will be 4 months out and I am already down 100lbs and still going. My surgeon expects me to make it to goal within the year. This is an amazing procedure, and if you follow the guidelines your surgeon lays out for you, you WILL loose the weight. I wish you and your husband the best of luck on this journey!

Groovinchikin reacted to Susie1226 in NSV- hadn't realized it
So I have been losing weight, have good restriction, and doing good overall. But I kept wondering where was all this energy that's supposed to come with losing weight. Well I hadn't realized that I have been doing more things. This weekend was a prime example. I went to a pet event with my Yorkie so there was a lot of walking, went to the mall, and started cleanings the house. Today I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in months bc I never felt like doing anything, took my dog to training, then went shopping at costco. I just realized that my energy level is better bc I have been doing things on the weekends when usually I would stay home or if I went out and did one thing I would come right away exhausted. I have gone to several events around San Antonio that have involved physical activity like walking. It's only gonna get better from all here on end.

I just got back from a couple of weeks of beach camping. I had a cool NSV that I wanted to share.
The beach we were on was 3k long. So perfect for a 6km jog in the mornings. I find it easier to run on soft sand in my trainers, rather than bare feet. One morning I got caught by a wave coming in, I tried to dodge it, but got some Water in my shoe. This caused some wet sand to gather up in my sock. I could feel it rubbing against my foot, but I didn't think it was a big deal so kept running.
I took my shoe off back at camp and I had a massive blister, under the arch of my foot. It got a little infected so I went to the local Dr to get some antibiotics.
Pre surgery I had no co morbidities, but my blood pressure had started to creep up. It wasn't at a level that I needed medication, but that was only around the corner.
The doctor, who I'd never met before took my blood pressure, while I told him about my blister.
My blood pressure was 105/60. The Dr said "Your blood pressure is nice and low, but I'd expect that from someone fit and who exercises regularly".
I sat there while the nurse bandaged my foot feeling like I was going to explode with pride. I've had heaps of compliments from people that I know, including staff at my Dr's and my surgeon's office. This was different though. I didn't tell the Dr about my weight loss or surgery. It wasn't even a compliment really. It was just a comment from a Dr I didn't know.
It made my day, so I thought I'd share.
    I hope you're all well,
    Deano

Have you ever been afraid of what happens after? I mean once everything is said and done and you're "skinny".I keeping thinking that people paying attention to me once i lose weight, and people noticing me.I kind of feel like I don't want to be one of them... because won't it all be fake then?I feel like being as big as I am weeds out people with certain intentions from speaking to me... i mean yeah i don't want to be obese anymore... but at the same time i don't want to be surrounded by fake people.. has anyone ever felt this way? How do you deal with it?

I had my surgery 3/18. I am still refusing to weigh myself until my PCP appointment on Monday 4/1.
But I'm happy to report that when I put my jeans on this morning, the same jeans that a few days b4 surgery were uncomfortably tight, fit me just right. Not tight. Not baggy. Just right.

I guess I just don't see the big deal. I personally am staying away from sugar etc but I've only been sleeved for 9 weeks. Depending on how far post op you are, I agree with johnlatte in that if you account for one I think it's fine. My dr wants her patients to be able to eat like a skinny person. Umm, skinny ppl like marshmallows too so one once in a while I would think would be fine. However, if it's a slippery slope for you I would've very cautious.
Then again, you might try one and not like it or it might make you feel sick!

This is a bit of a silly question, but I adore marshmallows. The big fluffy kind. Since surgery I have had this weird fear of eating them. I've never heard anyone say that we can't have them but for some reason I have it in my head that my stomach may not be able to digest them. I would love to have one as a treat on occasion so my question is are they ok to have?

Its not an ideal choice for a treat. Nutritionally speaking it is about 25 very empty calories, mostly sugar (97% carbohydrates). That said if you can work it into your diet, and can account for it in your daily intake of calories, carbs, Proteins and fats, then feel free to indulge. Note that the sugar may cause some queasiness (it may not) and if you have been following a mostly low carb diet, you may feel a little shakey and jittery due to the blood sugar spike. Let us know how you do!
