  1. I was approved for surgery end of April, things were going along kinda bumpy and now I am at the end only to recieve a call from my surgeon's office stating effective May 1st a new document has to prove at failed attempts at weight loss. I was just informed that my surgery is no longer covered by my insurance unless my doctor (PCP) writes a letter informing them of my failures at weight loss. I am now stressing again, angry, confused and annoyed. Has this happened to anyone else out there? Or am I just one of the lucky ones! Any support would be fantastic right about now! Thanks for listening as usual! Baileym ______________ Lord knows now! I am praying for 6/21/04 Surg. date!
  2. Hi Athykay, (I like that) How many times did you have to do the sleep test? One with/out the mask and one with?? I feel like I am totally stranded with this! I am frustrated and well just confused about it all! Any help would be great! Thanks! Baileym:(
  3. I like your answering layout! Thanks! Did YOU decide you didn't need it? Please are there anymore out there? Would love more experiences!!! Thanks! Baileym
  4. Hi there, Anyone on the board here have been diagnosed with sleep apnea? I am trying to learn more and more about it! More of expeirences then facts, I have read a lot about it, but would like to hear the experience of someone who has it. I have questions like: How many times total did you stop breathing during the test? How many times in 1 hour? How far did your blood ox level drop? What device are you using?? Any experiences like that would be really helpful! Thank you! Baileym
  5. Thank you all so much for your insights! When I first talked with a dr. about this... Band corrosion was mentioned and that there was a chance that it my grow "into" the stomache wall and therefore might have to be replaced! Kinda freeked me out! I have been caught up in all the pre-tests and never thought of it again until I got a surg. date... It all kinda sunk in! LoL Thanks again! Baileym ______________ 6/21/04 Surg date
  6. Hi, Something just accured to me. Is this permanant? What is the average life span of a band before it has to be replaced or removed?? I haven't heard anything and was trying to keep reminding myself to ask the Dr. Figured all I had to do was ask here. Anyone?? Thanks! Baileym ________________ Surg. Date!!!!! 6/21/04
  7. Hi Laura, I didn't have either of those tests but when I went in for my Upper GI there was a girl there that was having the lower one done. She said she had to drink this stuff and wait for it to get into her lower body, Intestines n stuff so they can take pictures of that too! Hope this helps! Baileym ________________ Surgery Date 6/21/04
  8. Hi Msknow, I so know how you are going through. I felt the same way at the beginning. I have been through sooo many tests and will hopefully be banded in mid June. So the total process for me is 3 mos. That is if I have no more problems, or bumps in the road. Good luck! Baileym ________________ Hoping for June 21 date!!!
  9. Thank you very much! As much as I am anxious, I am just as scared. Such a big step to take! But I find myself sooo looking forward to it! Thanks to this board!!!! Baileym _____________ Tentative date June 21st!

  12. Hi Gretat, My thoughts are with you today during your "change" to your new life! May it go smoothly, looking forward to hearing from you! Michelle
  13. Hi Darcy, I am sorry to say that I know I had to have one and most people I have spoken with had to also! I did not have any problem with it at all, I guess it depends on the person who is doing it to you! I had heard horrors stories and by the time I finished telling the man (who took mine) all the horror stories, he was done! So good luck! Don't fret, it is usually a quick procedure! Baileym
  14. Feels REAL good knowing that there is the 3 of us going through this together with the same doctor! I would like to go to the meeting, but I am not sure if I can this time. Dr. Greening said that I couldn't this time, can't remember why.. But if you t two go to the next one, most likely I will try real hard to get there! All I know is that I am feeling better about being ALMOST done with my tests, and that soon I will be on my way to a healthier, thinner life! Talk to you soon! Baileym
  15. Hi Debra, I think I just need a new set of lungs, they have been giving me such a problem since I was pregnant 7 yrs ago. My asthma is so bad, my blood Ox level was 93-95% in Dr. Deol's office. It should be 100%, but I can't remember the last time I saw that on my reading! Ahhh yes, I can see the light at the end of this appointment tunnel! Totally looking forward to the middle of May! TB test?? Stress test?? What kind of test was it? I had a stress test at the relaxing level... Don't know whay they called it a stress test! O well! Good luck and keep in touch! Baileym;)
  16. Yes, I now know how just about EVERY part of my body is doing! I have seen just about everything either by an x-ray, graph, blood level, monitors, chart and yes scales.... I am now at the tail end of my appointment list with just 2 more appointments to make. I have at least 7 more to go to, but at least they will all be made. Adding up all my benefit time at work so far and it has tallied 40 hours off to go to these appointments. I sure hope it is worth it! I am hoping to be banded my mid May at the latest. And it look likes a foreseeable date! CAN'T WAIT!! Baileym
  17. At the rate I am going, I will NEVER get a surgery date! I have a ton of stuff still to do, feels like I am walking in circles! I am hoping by middle of April I will have everything dotted and t's crossed so I can tell Dr. Deol that I am all done. I am hoping for a surg. date in May! Please keep your fingers crossed! Baileym Still running through the mill of tests!!
  18. All went well at beaumont, they were really nice there! The ABG was a peice of cake, people at work had me really worried about it! The UGI was soo cool, the stuff I had to drink was weird, but the tech showed me the tv so I can see it moving around in me! TOOO weird! LoL It was when I got back to work when things went crazy, with Dr. Little office calling me and saying I need to re-do a blood test showing the cortisol, and that it was low. The lady on the phone couldn't even tell me if it was really serious, she also had no idea what it was....except for some kind of steroid around my heart... My next app is the psych on Monday, by then I will be completely nuts!!! LoL Thanks for inquiring Greta, Keep in touch!! Baileym;)
  19. I was just told that I have low cortisol level and need to do a follow up blood test. Anyone know about this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks! Baileym:(
  20. Hi there, the wait of the first ap. is finally over!! Dr. Deol was so nice and so was Rebecca. I have at least 6 appointments to make, have one already set up for Monday... I hope the rest come quickly! Thanks for you thoughts and encouragement...will keep you posted!! Baileym
  21. Well, Today's the day of my very first appointment. I have been reading on this site for about 2 months now and have heard so many nice things about my doctor, Dr Deol. I am sooo nervous, scared, happy and excited.... I am hoping things go qiuckly, smooth and as painless as possible (doubt it though) none the less, today is the first step to my happier life! Will write later on tonight (hopefully) Thanks for everything, this board has been like a best friend, always there when you need them! Baileym;)
  22. Those words are Music to my... Eyes?? LoL Anyway, thanks for you first hand experience about Dr. Deol, I have heard so many nice things about her.. 1 week from today I will find out myself.... The wait is killing me! Thank you sooo much! Baileym:)
  23. OMG!!! My mother would be freaking out too! Thanks for your story! EVERY little bit helps! Baileym
  24. Hmmm, For some REALLY silly reason I thought it only took 50 minutes to do the procedure.. Wonder how my little mind came up wtih that one! LoL 8 days till first appointment, marked off at work and can't wait! Called Dr. Deol wondering where my 14 page packet is and Rebecca said it will be mailed today or tomorrow! What kind of stuff is in the packet?? It is NOT STOP in my head 24/7 and I am having trouble concentrating, sleep, and just relaxing! OH HOW I WISH IT COULD GO FASTER!!!!! Keep in touch! Baileym
  25. Hmmm.... can anyone who had Dr. Deol answer that last bit of info from Sassaay? Thanks! Baileym
