I think you look amazing! I am just beginning my journey but i have already realized that you can't make progress and feel good about yourself or anything you do if you are surrounded by negativity. I have a friend that is worried that if i become skinnier that i will treat her differently or become to good to hang out with her. My thoughts are if you are supportive then I don't care what I look like I don't turn my back on you. If you are negative, envious or jealous then I probably will be different. What's good for me may not be for you but if you truly care about me then your only concern should be at the end of the day if it makes me happy then you are happy. Too bad other people don't feel the same!

I should add that quite poignantly, that fortune was from my "last meal" at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant right before I started my liquid diet. It was like a little extra nudge that I made the right decision.

This has been true with me too! Nothing or little weight loss, and then boom! 3-5 pounds fall away....
I just keep going forward. As my fortune cookie I got (presurgery) told me, "Always remember where you are going and never forget where you've been."

Sorry for you loss... sometimes family can be great and other times they are worst. I have some minor issues with my mom too, so I can somewhat relate. But you seem focused on YOU and what's best for YOU and I think that's a great space to be in. Good luck with all of the extra stuff that surrounds you, it will all fall in to place sooner or later. Funny story... guess who started texting me this morning?! That's right! A day late and dollar short! I told him how I was so excited for this weekend because I've got so many wonderful plans and I hope he has a great weekend planned too. He hasn't responded back yet. lol. >
I would have never had this confidence before surgery. In fact, I allowed a lot of nonesense in my life out of weakness and self doubt. I'm okay being alone, and I'm really happy where I am. I'm in no rush to do anything stupid, so if he (or some other guy) is Mr. Right, he will get his act together and act like prince charming and plan a date and actually go all out for it including the time and location planning.

A guy will only respect you as much as you respect yourself. Dont go for that crap! & Dont let them get away with that bs. Great information. Thanks for sharing. I am 1 1/2 weeks out from surgery and have lost 17.1 pounds. I am a movie person and have never went to the movie without having popcorn. When I regain eating, I will definitely remember your blog and I know it will help me to make the right decision. You are awesome. Keep sharing.

I just wanted to add that I had a low BMI of 33 at surgery and I was not required to do the pre-op liquid diet, but voluntarily did so the day before surgery. When I asked my doc he said the higher your BMI the fattier your liver is, so the higher the BMI the longer the pre-op diet because they want to strip your liver of the fatty acids that A.) do shrink your liver and B.) don't make it as slippery and slimey to work wtih before surgery. IF you are a low BMI of 35 or under they normally do NOT require a 1 to 2 week preop diet. However all surgical procedures are the same for the most part and you cannot have liquids or foods after midnight the evening before your surgery (they want your stomach extra empty). And it never hurts to check in with your doc either if you're concerned.

Movie theatre popcorn is THE WORST!!! If you can sneak in a bag of your own airpopped stuff, that would help! Also, if your movie theatre has a yogen fruz, a small fro yo with some fruit topping would still satisfy your snack urge maybe?

thanks for sharing the stats on movie theater popcorn - yikes! I will be sharing those lil tidbits of info with my mom, who cannot resist the alluring scent of popcorn that they pump through the lobby of the movie theater! Not so alluring when yoou think of how bad it is for you....
