  1. I am 11 1/2 weeks out and I am down 48lbs which seems kind of slow to me, but I have the rest of my life....I not making lifestyle changes just to lose the weight...it's my new forever!
  2. Hey guys! I have lost 42lbs a little over 2 months out...about 11 weeks including pre-op. I was wondering if that is normal or am I just losing really slowly. I mean I feel fabulous...and I am working out 4 days a week. I am loving my new life! Just wondering how you guys did?
  3. Hey Friend! I had my surgery on 9/4, and I have lost very little weight since my surgery. I have been the exact same number on the scale for the past 6 days...it is furstrating, but my husband keeps reminding me that my body has to catch up with what I am doing and is probably in shock! Let's keep our chin up, and keep on keep on! We will get there!
  4. Hey there! I had my surgery on Sept. 4th. I went to the hospital at 5 in the morning, and had my IV and relaxation meds by 6:45. I remember laughing as the meds took effect. That is about all I remember until much later that day. When I woke back up I was back in my room surrounded by friends and family. I was in and out for a couple of hours. I don't remember being in any serious pain...but was sore and it was uncomfortable to take a super deep breath. I was getting ice chips that afternoon, and they had me up walking in the hall around 2pm. They even brought me my clear liquid meal that night for dinner. After they took our my catherter I had trouble peeing on my own so they had to do a small cath again. It was not bad....by that night around 7 I was peeing on my own. I had a "I peed in the potty party"!!!! I took my last pain meds in my IV around 8:30 that night and did not take any again until about 6 the next morning. Pain was not bad for me....just really sore. I was up walking every 3-4 hours and each time I walked a little farther. The morning of the 5th they had me drinking 2.5 ozs every hour or so. They came and took out my IV and my drain. The drain removal was a little painful, but not passing out kind of pain. I was discharged by 10:45 that morning. The first couple days at home I was having some uncomfortable gas pains, but was making sure to take a little gas-x and walk often. I was sore, but not in pain. I stopped taking my Liquid Lortab on Thursday... (surgery was Tuesday). I would recommend sleeping proped up with pillows...laying falt was not comfortable! I went out everyday and walked around walmart a little bit...and Sunday I went to church and shopping. Not having any trouble with liquids...or keeping things down. I honestly have felt worse after having the flu! I got my staples out yesterday and have felt great. I started driving again yesterday and have so much energy! I also went back to work on Monday 9/10. I promise you might be in a little pain and discomfort, but in just the short time since my surgery I feel so much better with each pound that comes off. I feel like I am getting my life back! Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any questions!
  5. I am 8 days post-op, and I go to start eating my light Yoplait Yogurt again. Before surgery I always thought that it was sort of tart, but now after surgery it taste like eat full fat icecream it is so sweet. So I can totally relate!
  6. I was sleeved Tuesday... I promise it gets easier!!!! Promise! Chin up and keep sipping! big hugs your way!
  7. Hey All! I just had my surgery on the 4th. It went well, and my doctor said that everything looks great. I have had some soreness and lots of gas pain, but nothing unbearable. I have been getting about 40ozs in since surgery. I feel a little bit stronger everyday. What are some good things to start eating now that I am about to phase back to full liquids and soft mushy foods. I have finally started dropping a little weight post surgery too. Good luck to all those waiting to have surgery and speedy recovery and gentle hugs to those post-op!
  8. I am having surgery tomorrow as well! I am nervous, but looking forward to a healthier and more active life! Yesterday I deep cleaned, and told I have worked and napped to keep my mind of things! Drinking my "stuff" now! It sure is gross! Good luck to everybody tomorrow! See you on the post-op side!
  9. I too am having surgery tomorrow! I am nervous, excited, hopeful, and a bit scared. I am actually working today just to keep my mind off things! Hope all goes great for you!
  10. My insurance company requested more paperwork because they the way my doctor's office submitted my 6 month diet was not the exact way they wanted it. They have a to have a particular sheet filled out of each month. They would not take any other form of paperwork. Maybe that is all your insurance will need...once they got that paperwork they approved me within a couple of hours! So fingers crossed for you!!!! Good Luck!
  11. I am on day 4 of a 14 day pre-op liquid diet that my doctor requires! Good luck to you! The pounds have fallen off me during my first 3 days...down 8lbs. You'll do great!
  12. I was wondering if anyone else had to do the Lovenox Injections after surgery. My doctor said that I would take shots of Lovenox in the tummy for 14 days after surgery. Of course that scares me to death...the thought of giving myself a shot! Has anyone else had to do this post-op? What was it like for you...did it hurt? Any info would be great!
  13. I think I am worried about the pain of surgery because I have never had any kind of surgery. Then I am worried about what life will be like after surgery....all of it is the fear of the unknown, but it just makes me nervous!
  14. Wow! That is awesome. Everything I have read says that you will have mild hair loss. What are you doing? Just being honest...I have really thick hair (that I LOVE), and I am very nervous about lossing it! So any suggestions would be awesome!
  15. Yes ma'am! I am day 4 of my pre-op diet. It is not horrible, but I miss actually sitting down to eat a meal. I feel like drinking everything is not reallly eating....I know that must sound crazy. I am getting a little nervous. I just had my final nutrition class....praying that it is not as bad as they made it out to be in class.
  16. I am scheduled for Sept 4th. From what I understand it usually requires a pre-op diet because the doctor wants to shrink your liver before he/she operates...but only your doctor could tell you if it is REQUIRED for their practice. However, be encouraged. I just got approved by my insurance on Friday, and they scheduled me for surgery on the 4th. It took less than a week for my insurance to approve, and I got my surgery date just a couple hours after the approval. I have just enough time between my approval and surgery for the 14 day diet. So I will keep my fingers crossed that everything works out for you!
  17. Currently my plan is to have surgery on Tuesday and go back to work the following Monday if at all possible. I am an office manager so I really just do desk work all day. I am hoping I will be able to handle that. I am a busy body so hanging at home alone will be super hard for me. Good luck to you guys!!!
  18. Lauren- that is awesome! Praying that I have a great experience!
  19. Wow! You guys are doing awesome! I am two weeks away from my surgery. Did you guys get nervous before surgery? It is good to know not everyone has a lot of issues with recovery!
  20. I am sure that you mother will come around once she sees how great you feel, and how much it improves your quality of life!
  21. Hey guys! I start my liquid diet today, and I had a couple questions. My diet plan says I can have fat free cream soups? Does that mean Fat Free cream of chicken soup? What are some other FF cream soups are there? I am very nervous about the 14 days of liquids....any tips on how to make it thru would be awesome!
  22. Thank you so much for the info! I have never had any kind of surgery so I am really nervous!
