I'm from Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Kim performed my surgery on September 18, 2012 and I've been doing GREAT ever since. Couldn't be happier! Dr. Kim has a very strict plan for his patients and if you stick to the plan and do as you are instructed you shouldn't have any probelms. In my opinion the most difficult time is immediately following surgery when you're trying to recooperate in the hospital. It will take a few days to feel normal; however, you'll do fine. Take care!

Sleever963 got a reaction from mommyradd in Kids meals!
I find that most 'kids meals' are usually two meals for me. Anytime we eat out I know automatically what my lunch will be the following day. Makes meal planning easy. dinner one night is usually my lunch the following day too. My surgery was on Sept 18, 2012 and to date I am down 82 lbs. from my initial consultation visit with my surgeon. YEAH DR. KIM in Colleyville, TX. I thank him daily for the opportunity to take control of my life and FEEL BETTER!

Sleever963 got a reaction from OceanSong in Whey Protein
Just finished off a bottle of Grape Frost Isopure. Each bottle is 160 calories. The label reads... 100% PURE 0% CARBS. A carb free drink that's packed with 100% whey Protein isolate and 100% awesome taste. All with 0% lactose, fat, preservatives or impurities. Drink up.
(Personal opinion... These taste the best of everything else I've tried. So far Grape Frost and Orange, pineapple and Banana are the best tasting for me.) Strongly recommend them due to the nutritional information. Only takes a while to finish one and they count toward Fluid intake plus help out on Protein. Can't beat that! Enjoy!

Sleever963 got a reaction from Kat Crowder in Diabetic Sleevers
Sounds to me like it's time for you to start looking for a new doctor. The ultimate choice should YOURS as to the procedure performed. It's you body and you will be the one going through everything. My doctor advised there was about 10% difference in the number of people (95% vs 85%) who overcome diabetes with the sleeve vs the RNY/gastric by-pass. The nutritional deficincies experienced with the RNY/gastric by-pass are too much of a risk than I personally would be willing to take. I would search for another doctor if I were in your shoes. Good luck!

Sleever963 got a reaction from CG75 in Has Anyone Gone Into Ketosis With Diet Instead Of Shakes?
I am still preop and also dreading my two week preop diet. With my doctor we are allowed 4 Bari-Essentials shakes a day if mixed with skim milk or 5 Bari-Essential shakes if mixed with Water and sugarfree Jello or sugarfree popscicles. Of course we are also to drink plenty of water but can add crystal light if we choose. Oh yea, unsweet coffee and tea are also an option. One more thing, we can have a cup of Swanson's low sodium chicken broth each day to break up the sweetness of everything else we can eat. Looking forward to the procedure but still dreading it too!
